I'm hoping for a better striker coming in so I can change it... 188963 Pah, mine is more sophisticated anyway.
-
It's so ridiculous, it's not even funny anymore. It's probably just that the club can be pretend that they were busy today.
-
Ah, the Dead Line Day Clowns are coming...

Not adequate cover? A falling chinese rice sack would cover Luques work rate.
-
Didn't know where to post it and I couldn't be arsed to dig out an old apropriate thread. Boulahrouz apparently said in a newspaper interview after his move to Chelsea that there had been enquieries from Villa and Newcastle in the past, but he didn't even think about considering them. Chelsea was a totally different thing though. Together with the latest shambles it tells a story how low this club has dropped in player's estimations.

Lalalala I hear nothing Lalalala

Nugent is a greater talent than Milner though. 188359 A greater talent than Luque, obviously and more reliable and adaptable in different positions which is why I'm not happy we'd be one good player down and......still left with Luque! 188370 But teams actually want Milner. Have we found someone who wants Luque yet? 188371 Based on what I saw from him last Sunday I wouldn't spend a pint for letting him play in my pub team.

The problem is that we need bodies in as the squad is too thin. We can't afford to lose more players. And with Solano probably past his best it would be stupid to let someone go can fill in his position.

It's April 1st, isn't it.

Well, I could have thought of better alternatives, but considering the circumstances it probably was a sensible thing to do. At least we got some cover in as it was clear that we aren't looking for someone who is considered first choice and to replace Shola. Of course the circumstances are frustrating, but it just shows Newcastle's positon in todays top flight football and where Souness has left after his disastrous spell.
-
No I won't. You're totally wrong. I always felt that we needed two new strikers. I do think that we need to strengthen the defence as well though.
-
Sorry, but I do find your stance a bit absurd. We have a far too thin squad with major positions having absolutely no cover (and forgetting for a moment that even the first choice players lack quality). We also have some players who still have to adapt to the league (Luque and Martins). If they ever will, remains to be seen. I don't think Luque will and from the look on Sunday Martins need some time. Of course everything hangs on the success in the course of the season. Unfortunately I can't see us to be too successful with the current squad, especially as I think a couple of teams have leapfrogged us and have the potential to do very well. Roeder himself set the standard in aiming to finish better than last season, i.e. top 6. If we only sign two people and don't achieve it I doubt anyone will look back and say that we did well in the transfer market.

I don't see your point. A lot of people are moaning because of the apparent lack of planning in the transfer market. It is not just about the amount of money that is spent. A lot of people were hoping the right problems would be adressed. And there were players available for decent prices (and I am not speaking of Duff, who was a nice steal, but unfortunately a player we didn't really need). Some of them even were freebies. The aim was to improve a squad that was lacking depth. The managment has spectacularly failed in this so far IMHO. 187929 well my point wasnt about the players weve bought or missed out on nor was it about the positions that we have and havnt filled. it was simply that we believed the club had little to spend and now that weve found £15m weve spent it on just 2 players (while allowing 9 to leave). i realise that in an ideal world the money wouldve been spent on other opsitions but the duff deal was too good to turn down if our summer budget was only 15m then i'd still have bought duff and spunked the rest on a striker. a player of duffs quality does not become available very often. yes i realise that the left side of midfield wasnt a priority but what about next season? or the season after?? what about duffs resale value? how long will it take us to recoup the £5m through sales of merchandise? duffs versatility, his ability and future value means that he's a huge asset to our club. Huge. the deal was too good to turn down in every sense. 187950 Of course the Duff deal was too good to turn down. I don't think too many will disagree about that. I still don't see what the moaning about the lack of planning in the transfers has to do with probably more money being spent than most of us thought was available. Your point rather justifies Newcastle transfer policy of appeasing fans with big name signings so that they forget about the utter dosh they get to see on the pitch - and the managment produces off the pitch. Duffs signing is hardly significant when his team mates are mediocre at their best.

Reality TV at its best tbh

That's what our defending does to you. 187753 Our fullbacks need changing, not our centrebacks. 187756 Yes, Bramble obviously fancies Babayaro, that's why he can't concentrate when latter is on the pitch...
-
I think it's only proper that we stand aside and let Spurs buy him. 187598 it would be rude not to, us being the true gents of the premiership 187602 Roeder is apparently busy on his mobile urging other people to make a bid for Nugent.

Tribalfootball is just a conglomeration of the stories appearing in the British tabloids. It's nothing else than an extended version of the BBC gossip column. I always wonder why people consider tribalfootball as a (dodgy) news source itself.

We also were so gentle to let Liverpool sign Kuijt (who looked not too bad last Saturday).
-
I find them pretty weird. I was listening to those of George Galloway and James Whale on Talksport recently. I don't know what is worse, giving such egomaniacs air time to let them randomly abuse people ("I am not talking to you, you are too stupid", "You are an idiot" etc.) or those people who in fact are daft enough to call in.
-
Well, beforee pre-season I thought that with the right signings we would have a good chance for top six. Now with teams like Villa and Pompey bolstering their squads while we fall behind I don't hold higher hopes than a place somewhere between 8th and 12th.
-
Yep, absolutely fantastic professional on and off the pitch.Shame he went to Monaco...

Zero chance of any of those 4. 187136 We still can get Klose, can't we? Maybe we should raise our offer to 7.01m. Those poor Jormans will bite our hands off... 187140 I'd go for someone like Koller, although he wouldn't score enough goals would he 187142 It was Baros O-Nut lost his money on due to my advice...
