None of all that "Buy a new squad" malarky. We are capable with the squad we have now to possess a good starting 11. Thing is what aspects do you think we need to improve in? Id say... Composer on the ball Positioning Anticipation and movement (Essenstially our strikers though owens movement is good) Passing

This is what I'd play... ................Gibbon....... Beye...Colo...bassong....Zoggy .......Butt............Barton...... ................Guti................. ...............Owen............... ......Fungshwela.....Martins... **I've given up on Duff (get the ball run sideways). Ricky (get the ball give it away 10 times). Parky mate i respect you and all that but NO Zoggy needs to be in a more advanced position to maximise his impact, i to have gave up on duff so charlie takes his place. Id stick with the 442 with zog and jonas on the flanks just try and encourage jonas to thread through the passes. In his defence martins and strola's movement today was poor until zog came on when he found martins, in fairness that was one of few good runs by oba.

don't be fucking daft man comparing him to shola martins since he joined first season: 46apps 17goals second season 33apps 10goals this season 8apps 5goals the lads has been doing alright for being in a new league new country to begin with then adding in rotating managers and players around him since he arrived. now he's scored 5 in 8 and is getting stick for his passing and touch his jobs to put the fucking thing in the net and he's doing it and if it wasn't for our lack of midfield and giving away stupid goals they'd have mattered a lot more... like today (shola's been at the club since 2000 btw and martins has already scored more goals than him ffs) Ant i agree with your defence of martins but he hasnt scored more than shola mate...just saying
-
Yes? if we didn't give away stupid fucking goals Martins scoring would get us points he's a striker who is scoring... what more do you want... and he apparently put a great ball through for owen to miss from point blank range Ant the lad's touch is a fucking disgrace and he has a brain the size of a pea. It was a cross that he put in for owen when he finally came to life. Prior to that he was as bad was against fulham. He is very clearly not good enough. Shola is another striker who's scoring if we're using that line of thinking. Its martins turn now is it? Fuck off man there was worse out there today... Martins is unreliable yes, wasteful at times yes but whats his record this season? hmmmm I understand he is frustrating but he is also brilliant, we need a manager who instead of putting his arm around a guy with no ability at all (JFK and Strola) to put his arm round a guy who has talent in abunance. I just dont know what some of you expect?
-
Iv thought of this but then who do we play on the right? Do we then have Zog and duffers on the wings? Nice thought but i doubt it would ever materialise... But i see your point with guti, he is lively, tracks back, good with ball at his feet (most of the time) but he does seem to lack that vision, that guile and craft to pick a pass? Its actually starting to become a worry! I would not have brought him off today though.

Well its there for all to see... We have a clueless manager in JFK and We are shit I was pleased with bassong who looked decent, but can the enrique brigade now officially admit that they were wrong? The boy is shit shit shit absolute fuckin gash. When charlie came on he made a huge impact, more so than owen who missed a complete sitter and was unlucky with his header and still got a goal. I think its time for a real sit down and back to basics. How to pass a ball, how to make good runs, first touch, composer, anticipation and so on. Week in week out i see lesser sides passing the ball round really well yet we just cant seem to pass it round simply? Given didnt have to do much Beye played well but shouldnt of given corner away Enrique...WANK (N'zogbia) Was a real threat and certainly staked a claim to be in the side Colo done alright but was murdered for pace against camara at times Bassong looked composed and solid Duff was busy but poor Jonas was wasteful but looked like he could of made something happen, defended far too much (Owen) Dissapointing even though he scored, he should of buried his 1st chance, unlucky with head, poached his goal but overall was quiet when came on Butt was typically poor slow and wasteful Barton injured early and missed his passing and drive (Guthrie) Busy but wasteful a times, seems slow on the ball too Martins up until his goal was poor, terrible 1st touch and quiet...great goal though Shola slow inaffective but got a good shot in which provided owen his goal JFK now reall has to look at what shola and duff are going to bring to the team because i think it was evident that charlie should be bombing down our left, and we should always have owen the poacher in the side. Chelsea game the team HAS to look like... Given Beye Coloccini Taylor Bassong Jonas Barton Guthrie N'zogbia Owen Martins Bench: Harper, Enrique, Cacapa, Duff, Strola, Geremi, Butt Dont think JFK will go with that team tho, he'l stick with enrique and duff down left and butt in middle! Agree or disagree?
-
What a complete crock of shit! Charlie made a real difference, should of been on at half time Dont know why JFK took jonas off instead of shola? I know that it it worked in the sence that shola hit the shot for owen to follow up but still... Beye shouldnt of put it out for a corner but given should of called for it! Im really fucked off now... A totally frustrating day at the office
-
Probably the worst performance of the season! Shite all over the pitch Given not had much to do, flat footed for the goal Beye got forward and few good crosses Coloccini done ok Bassong done ok Enrique absolutely shite, when are people gonna realise he is wank? about 15 clues long punts, 10 missplaced short passes and turned inside out over and over again Duff lively no end product Jonas plenty of running but no quality, shite shot Butt sloppy and slow Guthrie aimless Shola not effective at all Oba off the pace, poor first touch and should of scored N'zogbia on for duff, owen on for shola Not looking good lads...nothing really to be positive about
-
I can totally see why some would have enrique in the team! NOT he's wank man
-
This is fucking shit

2001's top 100 youngsters in the world

Wow, just wow. If coloccini lives up to his billing he'd be better than o'brien and dabizas, fair enough. Apart from that, if you're honestly comparing the players at their 2002 performance with how the current crop have performed at newcastle, I'm not sure there's anyone else I'd have in. Close calls would be beye vs hughes, but hughes was a really solid player at that time of his career and even popped up with some key assists, so I'd probs just stick with him. I'd have 2002 bellamy over current Martins and Owen without hesitation. The midfield is just a huge no contest. Jenas, Speed, Dyer, and even Viana when he tucked in, all played really well that season. Viana had a great run in the second half of the season, and jenas was in his pre-goldfish days when he really contributed going forward. And nicky butt has just made speed look about 10x the player i thought he was when he was still here - i thought speed was damn good, but thought that butt would be even better, how wrong I was. Not even sure that the current team could beat the 2002 team in their current condition......... On collective performance yes the 2002 was better, my point being if the current crop of players were under SBR guidance or a manager of similar calibre, twinned with off the pitch stability, i think our current starting 11 would be a better side. Maybe, maybe not
-
I think you're underestimating the quality of the 2002 first 11 a bit. The front six were all quality (OK I'd replace Viana with Robert) and the Back 4 were a solid premeirship standard at least. Of course having a capable midfield to take the pressure off helped, as did the confidence factor of knowing that we had goals/chances in every one of our front six, along with two centre backs who were good in the opposition box (yes I know O'Brien was hardly prolific but he was a great nuscience) Your right in what your saying but your missing my point, i agree our side was of a good standard, and although individually they werent fantastic, together they we pretty good...this is why i said its amazing what stability and a good manager can do for a decent side. Now i think we have a starting 11 of players miles more gifted than those of 2002 we just need a good manager to pull them all together and some stability. When you compare the two its an interesting thought that just how good could our side be now under a good manager? hmmm
-
My favourite football moment! Just a thought though... Given Hughes Griffin Dabizas O'Brien Jenas Dyer Speed Shearer Bellamy Viana That was the standard then...i honestly dont think we are anyworse than that starting 11, - stability and a decent manager like Given Beye Coloccini Taylor Bassong or Enrique Duff or N'zogbia Butt or Guthrie Barton Gutierrez Owen Martins Id say we have arguably a better starting 11 that the one of 2002, i guess it just shows how much stability means and just how much sides have improved over 6 years.
