Mike Ashley plans to remain Newcastle owner for at least two more years

I can actually see MA staying on for a few years tbh. We go up with a smaller wage bill, less running costs, more TV revenue, higher gates and ticket prices....he'll bit by bit reclaim money he has loaned us and we will be sold in 2014. If he has infact paid off alot of our debts in an interest free loan from himself then it would actually be in the clubs best interest for him to stay and whatever profit we make paid straight to him, thus reducing our debts and slowly becoming a more saleable asset. The danger is if someone did buy us out and should they not completely pay off MA then MA could recall the debts at any time and then we would be in serious shit. -
I am a Tractor Boy, yes. Unfortunately I've never been at a Town game in England (I am German). So St. James' Park will be my 'debut'. Really excited to see the famous Toon Army as well. Btw: is it still possible to purchase such a scarf? Couldn't get one when they sold them last year but however donated for the SBR Foundation via PayPal. Sure you did Just kidding mate! Try ebay?

Swap Smith for Nolan. Nolan is a useless lump but he scores goals and may get more chances playing alongside someone creative. I wouldn't be adverse to playing Guthrie CM in the premiership but we will definitely have to sign someone else to partner him unless one of two equally unlikely things happen before the end of the season: 1, Barton comes back, stays injury free, keeps out of trouble and gets back to the player he was at City. 2, Vuckic breaks into the team and starts looking amazing from the off. As said, neither are very likely. 1. Could happen tbh but like Guthrie for him to do well it means one of Nolan and Smith being dropped. 2. Love to see it happen but sadly it wont...best he can hope for is reserve team football and the odd cameo cup run out next season. I know it will sound totally unrealistic but when we go up id love to see us throw in a £12mil bid for Rodwell.

Maybe it would but 50k to a guy who served us well wouldnt do much harm. Seeing as alot of players are earning near that each week these days.

So does everyone think our best midfield would be... ---Gutierrez---Smith---Guthrie---Routledge--- I honestly think that could be good enough for survival in the PL...nothing more though.

Where do you all sit in St James and whats the atmosphere like?

What was that rather dark classical choon we ran out to before local hero came on? Man i fuckin loved that shit...really got the crowd buzzing and id imagine it got the players geed up too! Cant for the life of me think what it was called...anyone? -

That would be the day i buy a Sunderland shirt! -
Agreed. He does a job on the right, probably the best crosser of the ball on a consistent basis too but the good points aside, more importantly when he is played out there it unbalances the team which in turn puts more focus on our left hand side. This meaning teams doubling up on Gutierrez and cutting him out the game. Wouldnt be so bad if either Smith or Nolan could create but sadly for us they cant. I know what i would do, like most on here but whether CH would do it is another story.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcas...72703-25985647/ Personally i think he has ran our midfield when given a chance in the middle. But with Smith back and Routledge looking like he mite make the Boro game Hughton has a dilema...or does he? Imho he has been our best midfielder this season, yes Nolan has contributed more goals but Guthrie keeps us trying to play football, always wants it, always looking for a pass and this has showed in the number of assists he has got and in some of his performances this season. I've a sneaky feeling though that come the Boro game CH will put Smith back in the middle with Nolan and move Guthrie out on the right again and bench Routledge. Maybe its the correct thing to do but the boy has got to wonder what has to happen for him to get 10 games in his favoured position and a chance to make it his. What has to happen is either Nolan or Smith to be sacrificed more often and id choose Nolan...The battling and leadership qualities of Smith alongside Guthries willingness to want the ball and make something happen would be a good mix to get us through the rest of the season. Give him a run Chris.

Iv always favoured the east stand bang on half way as far back a possible obviously for the view, as for atmosphere i dont think there is anywhere in the ground which is particually great anymore. Its not what it used to be. For great atmosphere and banter you will only find that away from home. Shame...Its not so much the FMA reign thats caused this although its certainly had an impact but the atmosphere at St James has been on the wane since we expanded the ground. Maybe even longer tbh imo. -
If money was the issue id of thought any half decent chairman of our club with an interest and respect for our history would be sending him a check and helping out where possible.
-
Has it? I'd attribute that more to do with the fact he has more space to pick out a team mate. Wel imho yeah it has...albeit not as productive as we would like but he still has made quite an improvement in that area of his game.
-
If that is what he is capable of then in justifies him playing on the left...absolute class!! He is the scorer of the two best goals in our season so far! Is it any coincidence that his final ball has improved too!? How many assists does he have?
-
In fairness i wasnt too fussed with the Forest result...yes it would of ment 10 points gap on them but iv a soft spot for forest as i have family down there so id quite like them to finish 2nd. The point is though...we are 8 points in front with a game in hand, 9 points infront of WBA so them two are now battling it out for 2nd place leaving us top and cruising. Its ours to throw away and i really dont think that will happen. Call it premature but boys we are going up!!! Cant wait for the hightlights now

---Harper--- ---Simpson---Williamson---Coloccini---Enrique--- --Pancrate---Guthrie---Nolan---Gutierrez--- ---Carroll---Lovenkrands--- Subs: Krul, Kadar, Hall, Butt, R.Taylor, Best, Ranger Guthrie in the middle is a plus, Pancrate has pace and will give us a different option on the right and provide width. I would of chose Raylor too but CH must want to give FP a run out...hope he does well. Still going for 3-0

This. I wonder up till now how much of his investment he has actually clawed back...if any. I wouldnt mind him staying if he was to come out and say that we are building for the future and that we were infact NOT going to sell our best young stars. Added to that he would have to invest heavily in the summer, get the correct players in and replace CH with a higher calibre manager. Its not beyond him but i seriously doubt he will do what NEEDS to be done. -
Pud its a cool tool but thats not how i roll Oh and you spelled Gutierrez wrong

On the back of some very solid home form and our 1st away win in six we look to make it 5 straight wins at St James Park. With Forest at home to Swansea who are 4th and will be looking for a massive win in their promotion charge, and WBA away to QPR under the new management of Neil Warnock who will be looking to get his reign off to winning ways, we could widen the gap at the top with a win against Barnsley. The sole aim of course is 3 points and a good performance, with the added bonus that should results go our way, and they quite possibly could, we could effectively go 9 points clear of WBA and further distance ourselves from 3rd with a game in hand. *Jose Enrique, Peter Lovenkrands and Nicky fuckin Butt are back while Routledge looks set to miss another game with a calf injury. * Tamas Kadar could feature at LB if Jose isnt 100%. Shola Ameobi and Steven Taylor are out but Joey Barton is back in full training and is expected to feature in the coming weeks once he has a few reserve games under his belt. Likely starting 11... ---Harper--- ---Simpson--Williamson--Coloccini--Enrique--- ---Guthrie---Nolan---Smith---Gutierrez--- ------Carroll---Lovenkrands------ Subs: Krul, Kadar, Hall, Butt, R.Taylor, Best, Ranger Im going to go for 3-0...Carroll, Lovenkrands and Nolan.

I was fully supportive until the Americanism popped up. What? Americans refer to teams in the singular - Newcastle is a shit team, Man Utd is a bunch of cunts etc etc. The correct ie English grammar is Newcastle are a shit team and in this case Newcastle United are known for taking a strong following. Went straight over my head when i first read it But hey what do i know? Im only semi-literate at best!

LOL Seen this happen quite a few times while i was playing!

Agree with all of that tbf. With someone inside who can help create chances and lay through balls out wide for him would improve his play no end. I must say though, he is probably the hardest grafting winger iv seen in a black and white shirt for a while and also his final ball has improved ALOT of late.
