Totally agree. I think they know they need to start making some signings else season tickets are going to gather dust. 25K people at £600 a pop is likely half of the transfer "wor" chest

That's the key for me. Some confused why I'm not over the moon at the prospect of McClaren. It's not a choice that suggests change or excites. It's not one that's suggests breaking the mold. However, I would think him one of the best, if not the best, coaches we've had under MA. Based on what ive heard over the years from people who know him, worked with him or played under him. I've said now, will I back him? Aye, If the club does. At the very least, I think he could get more from the current squad than pardew. Still need to invest else it's a waste of time and Id hope JC wouldn't be his no 2 either, but concede due to stupid contracts he'll be around the club. Maybe SMc can find something he is good at.

Thing is with McClaren, if he loses his first 3-4 games we'd be right back to where we ended the season and the media giving the fans stick for not giving him time. I could be wrong, but I cant see him coming in and inspiring the players. Hope I am wrong.

Unknowns starting out: Houghton, Keegan Bags of experience: JFK, Pardew, Tbf, neither means much when strings pulled from above. I guarantee McClaren getting appointed with the same backroom staff we have now and coach set up, isnt going to get the fans rushing to buy tickets. (hence why the club didnt distance itself from other more interesting manager links or talks of 6 signings, plus MA making a scripted Sky appearance).

Vieira was never in the running. A convenient link from his agent that was good for him and NUFC as it made it look like we were thinking outside of the box. We aren't. While my stance of "its Carver" has softened, I cant see past it being McClaren. The easy / convenient / uninspired / same mould option. The only plus is people now know how to spell Vieira. Oh and four man shortlist? Nah. I think its Carver or McClaren.
