The ref and linesmen are a fucking disgrace in this game. btw, shit tune (red flag, blue flag blah blah blah) so shit song. yeah the ref is havin a nightmare. I think the song carries around grounds quite well, we sing songs that are so fast that by the time there half way around the ground they stop. Anyway its a 'toon' flag not a red one or a blue one (stop shittin on my parade!)

Watching the Bristol City Portsmouth match on Setanta, been to a few City games as i'm living there atm so recognise some of their songs. Always wondered why Newcastle don't have a version of 'flying high...' could be something like Flyin high, up in the sky we'll keep the toon flag flyin high, Geordie boys until we die, we'll keep the toon flag flyin high Been an ok game btw, although crouch's goal should have been a penalty for his basketball skills in the City box!

Just been watching a YouTube compilation of some of his Rangers moments and there is some decent stuff there. I know anyone can be made to look good in these compilations but i think it could be an ok short-term investment that will add creativity to our attacks. hopefully.

amazing! looked like Ronaldo in his Inter days with the speed of the touches

cheers for putting this link up, its awesome!

They were just discussing it on MOTD, showed a couple of replays with Rooneys snidy snidy corner kick! I pray for the day Newcastle work on set pieces in training, although to be honest we need to get past that huuuuge task of gettin the ball beyond the first man!

Just got it sorted cheers, eventually seen that the thread title had it in all along!

Just added my team to the league but it won't appear til the end of the game week after the wigan man u match. Currently on 1099 so hopeully playing with the big boys at the top!

would rather take benjani off their hands for the rest of the season that Jo. Surely we're more appealing that Pompy even in the current situation, i always hate it when players go back to their old clubs so quickly (ala defoe)

watched the man u chelsea game today, and was miffed about the ronaldo's goal that wasn't given. The commentators we're sayin they could see nothing wrong with it apart from the ref not blowing his whistle, yet on the replay you blatently see giggs take the corner to himself! Just had Alan (knob) Green on in the background on 5live summarising the game and he said it was a brilliant move and an undenaible goal, so i went on youtube and watched the replay again, and still all i see is a corner kick been taking by giggs to himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enwDWCkc7YA 1min23 into it, anyone else agree? You see rooney far away, did he take it, then run away for giggs to pick up the ball (some ultra snidy training ground move?)

i would kill to see read her first piece if we signed him!

wasn't at the game to day, but good to hear a couple of renditions of the owen songs sung out in the gods. Thought Jonas showed some spirit and played well for the full game and i so wished his shot in the first half had sailed in, but his final ball at times is woeful. We're playing with two wingers atm who cant get a ball off the ground (bar duffs chip for the header!). Geremi is a poor mans Butt and enrique was passing to the west ham midfield most the second half. I agree with someone's comment earlier today, Owen could learn a thing or two from bellamy in terms of runs and splitting / confusing the centre halfs, but i thought he did well toady at times to come back and act as a fifth man in midfield when it was needed. overall a semi decent attacking performance but again showed how easy we can be picked off at the back at home more so than away at the moment!

his childhood dream, to score a crucial goal at the gallowgate end on his full home debut. I wonder what he will think when he's showing the ol'youtube compilation to the grand kids; "that, son, was a MAN'S haircut!" good goal, but you've fucked up so many kids dreams and ambitions by getting your hair knitted to your heed!

Football supporters perceptions of home advantage
scotty84 replied to chittychitty's topic in Newcastle Forum
I know its probably all that psychology nonesence for the amount of questions in the last bit, but surely that could have been done in 4 questions. Good subject to look into though, would be interesting to get in touch with a football squad - if you do and you can get some findings up on here it would be good to here. I imagine some days players would rather play away esp in bad form and don't want a volitile crowd for 90minutes etc -
Newcastle tell Man City to swap Johnson + cash for Given
scotty84 replied to JaMoUsE's topic in Newcastle Forum
craig gorden - £10million, and City, the richest club in the world now, offer £8million for Given? Surely even Ashley must realise he can start a bidding war off between clubs with City involved if he is indeed willing to sell -
did it at Villa last season when we got beat 4-1, owen scored in the first couple of minutes and i thought it was going to be amazing, ended up getting hammered and all the villa songs singing keegan songs, sucked so i left early for once!

subtly trying to play his get out of jail card there, wise must be having a hard time reaching the shelves for the latest footy manager game

just been looking into getting tickets for the WBA match as its the next away game i'll be able to get to, and its 40 F*****G quid! how the hell can they charge that!?!? Look at the other up and coming prices.... Blackburn £25 Man City £30 WBA £40 !! riduculus! you expect it from the likes of chelski's and ManUre's and they can semi-justify (!) it with the players to get to see and their current league status etc, but West Brom?!
-
how has it been a newcastle nightmare for him exactly? Keegan did nothing but stand by him where most managers would have ran a mile to be associated with such a player / person these days. And the majority of fans have gave him nothing but support when he's been on the pitch, both cluba dn fans taking a shed load of abuse along the way.
-
nice ale, there's better and there's worse but would drink it ahead of most of the stuff you get on tap around newcastle, still got me shearer bottle sat in the house too somewhere!

I was at pompey on Sunday and it was fuckin embarrassing in a funny sort of way....virtually everyone got their name bellowed out by our lot, even fuckin Enrique, which to be fair was warranted as he played as well as I've seen him....but poor Michael got barely a fuckin mention....Oba was having a bit of a mare, was carrying an injury for 15mins before he scored, and because of this he wasnt attempting to get the ball back when he invairiably lost the ball, and still he name was being sung from the rafters.......all after Owen had scored a goal using huge bravery (the meat in a James/Campbell sandwich?..no thanks!) and finishing superbly under immense pressure...if he does leave and turns round and says "I never felt truly accepted by the fans" it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Agree totally point i was making before, no-one sings owens name ever, most probably due to his name been hard to graft into songs. busy watching the villa hamburg match and the hamburg fans are singing the white stripes tune over and over http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYDtenzAmnQ i reckon you can put 'micky owen' at the end of it and it sounds half decent (whooh-ohoah micky ow-en), the example above is really good esp for away fans as its something very repetitive that you can keep going for a while, it reminds me a couple of seasons ago of the uefa cup song about glasgow we sang, that would go on for ages. WE NEED AN OWEN SONG!
-
you would think the obvious thing for him to do would be to, STOP taking stupid throw in's that only have a positive result every 10+ throws, or is it literally the only reason Pulis is putting him in the team? I really don't get this long range throw stuff, a team get virtually anywhere into the oppositions half, instead of building on the possesion in someone's half they time and time again chuck it randomly into the box with the hope that all teams defend as shockingly as Arsenal. Granted it works from time to time and can put a team under pressure at times close to the end, but they proved against us there's a half decent side without it.
-
there's barely ever any vocal support for owen though in terms of chants / songs etc. Against pompy he scores a cracking goal and within a couple of minutes we've all started singing oba's name. Granted his name aint the best to get into a song, but he must get a little pissed at times when crowd never vocally get behind him, something that he more than deserves. the pnly one i've really heard is the "micky owen, micky owen, wheeeeheey, mickey owen" one but it never travels across the stand that well.

The Official Portsmouth Vs Newcastle United Thread
scotty84 replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
I thought Martins struggled towards the end of his game (before he was subbed) Pace wise he couldnt seem to get away from their back line, even when it looked like he was in behind them. I'm still not convinced he is fully fit After he scored he looked like he was hobbling a lot. No wonder he didn't do his customary flips. he still had it in him to do a bit of strictly come dancing with Bassong, they went on for a good while think they we're enjoying it a bit too much
