I think i've just worked out what Tooj was saying yesterday about the Moyes 'myth'. Basically, the Moyes squad that came 4th the season before finishing nearly relegated 'was nowhere near as good as ours'. I think the main myth i'm hearing at the moment is about the 'relative' strength of our squad. Relative to the other 19 teams in the league, based on their fitness, presentation rates and performances. We have a couple of top class players, thats it.

If Martin Jol had that quality of player, he'd have got Fulham top half this year. You can add a few more to the list of players who are not good enough to sustain the club in the top 7 or 8.

I spent £800 on this macbook in 2007. 6 years and 5 months later, with no memory upgrades, it still purrs along nicely. Battery needs replacing but thats to be expected. My brother said the same thing to me about price but he's on his 3rd laptop in the same period.

Alan Pardew - Poltroon sacked by a forrin team

In what was does that debunk the Moyes 'myth', whatever that means? You say Pardew should do better with the players he has but this whole argument ignores the two most fundamental elements of the statement being in question. Firstly the quantity of times these players are available and secondly the implicit judgement of their quality. The second point is of course relative to the quality of the players on the opposing side. It's this last point that gets glossed over. Cabaye has been shite for ages, Ben Arfa has shown glimpses. Neither of those two have been wank because of the system they are in either. To say the approach to games is different from last year is also nonsense. The formations this year have been a bit more forward thinking with 4-2-3-1 deploye a few times but the cautious nature of the set up was a constant complaint last year. Apart from that, I couldn't pick fault in what you are saying- 10610 replies

Gary Neville said a few weeks ago that playing at Wembley in the cup final was the biggest hurdle to Wigan staying up. I can't say whether he meant because he thought they would lose but he only talked about the fatigue and stress. Arsenal have to win to play in the CL too.

No, I don't.

Without doubt, CT would love it here. Duck heart kebab is a popular option at late night eateries in Bayonne.
-
Duck powered. That's all they eat down here. I'm starting to quack.

Cheers. Been a bit de-connected hanging out in the Pays Basque for the last few days. Weds and thurs were bank holiday, which was nice.

That's not helping my hangover. Pints of Tripel Karmeliet and Troll, amazing on draft, both taste great but not good the morning after. Woke up at 6 feeling a bit queer, went to the bog thinking this is touch and go, had an unusually timed poo, sweated cold for 5 minutes but managed to hold it tight. I can also still taste chorizo but the reasons why are not yet clear to me. Best part is that I'm taking a train for 4 hours later with a 3 year old, missin our game and its the last day of my mini-holiday. So, full of joy

In a random Wednesday in May? Just goes to show how cosmopolitan Liverpool is nowadays. FYI - I was taking the piss, if random people outside the ground midweek are not from Manchester that speaks to the nature of Manchester's population and not the inbound nature of their matchday support. Quite surprised that needed to be clarified.

Do you reckon 4 of them made the trip from London to stand outside the ground on the off chance of an interview?

Barcelona's finance from that period was based on debt, then the per club deal in Spain and thus the subsequent guaranteed access to CL money. Their revenue masks the finance from debts We do quite well on the revenue side apart from the commercial income. The fact that Spurs are in London, gives them access to a far wealthier supporter base who can boost commercial income. Man U can access hundreds of millions of fans around the world. The recession has killed off some of our revenue potential, whichever way you look at it, the North East has suffered more than the ssouth east in terms of incomes and asset values which massively effect disposable incomes. I went through the figures and explained that the impact of Ashley on the club's income can be placed in the 10-20m pound bracket. A comparison to 2007 has to account for 2 things: GDP is still in 2013 2% lower than it was in 2007 and secondly that's a national not a regional figure. I dont have the data to hand but you could estimate the regional GDP loss at around 5-10%. A disproportionate impact of that income reduction will be felt in the commercial income stream of a football club which is based on corporate and high value services. I wont argue against anything else said there but the financial potential of the club is not much different to Spurs. When you freeze ticket prices, the relatively small advantage of having 50k a week over 36k a week is dampened. We can compete with Spurs and with a decent manager / Pardew sort his head out / whatever its not relevant to this point / then we still have the resources to do so. These last few weeks have not been down to Ashley being a tight arse, we should have invested more and earlier but recent events need a bit more focus than that.

Well despite it being a bit rude, I reckon most people thought the same thing. Especially the way Dan goes on on here. If his mates are like him and go on like that on a weekend away, I'd last about 10 minutes. I'm allowed to pass comment on that if I want. For the record I reckon you would fit in well with his mates, you sound made for each other.
-
Just saying your mates 'sound' like dicks, if it concerns you try and portray them differently. Keep cool G, good luck with the speech
-
Nah they sound like cocks. I've been on a few stag do's, dont worry. Once we were 20 Geordies and 10 jocks in Amsterdam for 3 days. Amazing time and utter madness, no one once told me what to drink, eat or snort. We ate at a lush Argentinian steak house every time we ate.

Well that came out wrong.
