  1. Overkill for a wedding I am older than you thought G. My mate had 2 decks back then, both belt drives and only 1 had a pitch control. Great way to learn as you had to control the speed with pinching and use drops to mix which were tricky because of the belt. First direct drives a couple of years later and we all could beatmatch with ease. 3 of my friends from Newcastle from that time have become famous in the electronic music scene, one was voted in the top 100 DJs in DJ Magazine, another is head of A&R for one of the longest running club/labels in the country and another was headlining a gig in Minsk last weekend (amongst loads of other things). Newcastle has a strong position in global dance music culture through Global Underground records.
  2. https://twitter.com/robbiewilliams/status/339096799220465665/photo/1 My mates the fat idiot with the t-shirt. From Bishop Auckland. I might pop along to one of the gigs for a laugh.
  3. Do you have a 'comprehension spazz' one for Jon?
  4. 60m for next season in TV revenue 60m over the next 4 seasons if immediately relegated (parachute payments based on existing distribution) = 120m
  5. You need FLAC mp3s to play at the same quality as vinyl, file compression means they are not comparable sounds. If you stick to mp3s, then people wont notice but its inferior to CD or vinyl if compressed. Hardware is better because you can actually physically manipulate the tracks like with vinyl or CD decks (doing this with a mouse or your fingers is basically rubbish). Definitely more fun but its the difference between an app and a piece of expensive hardware. I've done a bit of dj'ing over the years, started around 1989.

  8. Mixing between vinyl and mp3 wont really work unless all your mp3s are FLAC. You dont need ableton for weddings, anything basic will do but if you want to invest then get some hardware, not just the software. Numark etc do stuff which comes with software for pc, tablets etc.
  9. I've started playing the triangle in my local reggae band.
  10. Its clear but it is very expensive. It costs £530 to borrow £400. I don't think the apr is that helpful but its over 30% of the initial total borrowed. I think that's too much but the problem is for their model, much lower and then everyone wants to borrow and lots of people don't repay. I think legislation could be introduced to limit the number of times people use the service and when people have used service e.g. 10 times they get the right to an interest free loan but which then precludes them from using the service again for 12 months. There are plenty of things which could be introduced to protect the vulnerable.
  11. I didn't think we would buy Cissé but we did so us buying a striker to replace Ba is not beyond the realms of possibility. It's the Coloccini replacement that will be problematic since we won't buy anyone with the same level of experience for a start. Of the same ability is unlikely too but he's probably the most talented defender to have ever played for the club so its a tall order. Being optimistic after last season is actually easier than you think, it can't get much worse.
  12. I've struggled with this one but I think I am now firmly of the view that this tragic death is unfortunately just another form of collateral damage. Awful thing to happen but awful things do happen. The drone strikes and Guantanamo debates in the US were poignantly timed.
  13. That makes no sense HF, once the debt is paid off you move up a level in disposable income and, within the same model, become stronger. On an optimistic note, if by some miracle we don't lose Coloccini and we replace Ba, we will be stronger than when we finished 5th. In this case, I don't see why Ben Arfa or Cabaye will force a move. Ben Arfa will let his contract run down anyway.
  14. I'm doin the same this weekend, going to fabric on Saturday night. My mate, who emigrated to NZ is in South Africa and has decided to fly to his next destination via London so we can all meet up and go clubbing. Sasha is headlining but I will be heading to room 3 for Boo Williams, a legend of 90s Chicago house. I think this will probably be the last ever time I do this considering I'm 40 in 2 months.
  15. My point wasn't entirely serious I'd have him back anyway, its better than nowt.
  16. We have become adept at the pointless floated ball to the back post which he is quite suited to tbf.
  17. What's the matter Pablo? Gotta no respect? What are you trying to do? Why you look so sad? It's a Sunderland, it a shit a place. Ahhh shaddup a your face.
  18. It possibly is far too ingrained, especially as you say if that's all they've known since being kids. I'm just glad that the possibly doomed-from-the-outset experiment is going on down the road
  19. More faux outrage from the twitter generation tbh.
  20. Good luck to Di Canio, someone needs to do this sort of thing to at least spark the debate. It's to be expected from him so he may as well kick things off, even if he doesn't get the players 100% in line, at least they will stop an think a bit more. I'd ban the cunts from drinking during the season.
  21. I don't think the brand image of the club outside the region is that far away from brand identities of those two tbf. Not the same certainly but closer to that end of the scale than Louis Vuitton etc. I think Wonga denigrates the club but its not as if we are an aspirational lifestyle brand.
  22. I think his key strength is being best mates with Coloccini.
