It is hilarious that this goes to the heart of the very parochial arguments between the fans and their ridiculous ideas of being more 'moral' and 'classy' and at the same time is playing out in the national press as an affront to decency and british values You couldnt have scripted it. Not in the slightest bit offended personally but who cares, stoke the fires of outrage i say.

A fabulous first press conference

There is a very real issue at hand but she believes that Sunderland football club should be put ahead of concerns over fascism, intolerance and the very short jump to race issues. If Di Canio was appointed here i'm not so sure there would be the same acceptance and maybe that would be because it would be another embarrassment from Ashley but that lot down road realise their position is so tenuous and are lucky to be supported by Short's finance that they will timidly accept this. 'As long as he doesnt slag of Sess's mam' obviously.

Now we've solved the 4 page mystery thriller of whether it was 4 or 5 regular first-teamers playing yesterday, would you like to suggest what we should do were we not in the mood to excuse him?

Statistically, 50% of football fans are below average intelligence. Disturbingly high could mean more than 1%. Don't try and outwit me fatty.

QPR, Reading, Southampton and Sunderland have sacked their managers this season and there is a disturbingly high proportion of Newcastle fans who want us to be part of that group. For CT to cast this as the 'sensible' constituency of our supporters should be him crafting wummery out of a polarised discussion but its not. It's just self-delusion unfortunately.

I am enjoying the level of discomfort on NO with their realisation that CT is firmly in their camp I sacked the game off yesterday, didn't plan to watch it which took our lass by surprise. I said at the time you've got to admire the fans who traveled down yesterday and in a way you could argue that the club owes it to them to try to win every game. Except it doesn't. I was not exactly happy with the side we put out, I'd have fielded weaker and saved Cabaye but then again he might need games. There are 3 massive objectives still left for us this season, that's a lot going on and I do not want us pissing about trying to scrape a draw (and I'd say with little chance of success) against the champions at their place at full strength when we have survival in the premiership, the mackems and Benfica coming up. Slogging our guts out to possibly but not likely get a point at City is about as stupid a preparation for our upcoming games as you could possibly make. The effort required to get a point is too risky in the current situation with the games coming up and would still have been a long shot. Without doubt Pardew would have looked at it in exactly this way. Which is why I admire those who traveled down, was never going to be any different. Great time to play us basically (or conversely a great time to have a game that you can write off).

Just a point of clarification, is this Ryder quoting Llambias? As in the Llambias interview i read 'the biggest commercial deal in our history' was referencing the Wonga deal, details of which will be available for scrutiny next year. Or thats what i thought anyway.

I'm surprised you find the time to work full-time, be a parent, have a social life and obsess over your body. Thats a serious point btw.

I've put some half-decent recent electronic in the last couple of pages. New Bonobo album came out which sounds alright, the new DJ Koze album Amygdala (featuring Caribou, Apparat and Matthew Dear) is causing quite a massive fuss everywhere, Sketches by Theo Parrish, the Apparat album, Mano Le Tough, Applescal etc. Daft Punk coming out in a few weeks too. One album which me and the lass got massively into last week on holiday was Rhye's Woman which is sort of this year's Jessie Ware, lovely laidback feel with loads of top pop songs on it. The Blue Hawaii album Untogether has some amazing electronic tracks on it; In Two, In Two II and Sweet Tooth are all great. One of the tracks sounds like what The Orb would have done had they had the technology, they may even be referencing the orb a wee bit as there are a couple of synth sounds that remind you of the classic Korg M1 that was all over 'Adventures'.

Yet you are 0.0007% body fat with sculpted abs, where is the fat falling off? Your head?

You want to stop being boring and have some fun on your device I don't doubt that tablets will develop to be work devices. I'm on my Ipad now, have been all day. Been working abroad and currently on a plane waiting to take off. The iPad is ubiquitous in our meetings now.

That's not even an analysis. What you're basically saying is the tech world would have a whole new market and product segment that no one has thought of yet if Jobs was still alive. Shite.

I holding out for the wi-fi enabled underpants and belt, batman style.

Jobs was an arsehole who created a snidey corportate culture. Like all successful business, Apple had well designed products, great pricing strategies and excellent marketing. These are the cornerstones of business success in every sector. As Rayvin points out, they released the same phone 5 times and it was a copy, so what was so innovative about the Jobs era? I'd argue loads but people who dislike Apple say the iPhone and the iPad were not real innovations. I scoff at their utter lack of business understanding. The share price on the other hand is a personal embarrassment.

Samsung have just made statement about their new watch. Everyone knows Apple have been developing one for a while. When i posted the first thread on here about the iPad, people scoffed at the idea i presented that laptops were dead. Wearing your device sounds a bit odd right now but with Apple's amazing design teams, who knows. These Google glasses sound like a step too far for now, Larry's idea about everyone one day having the google chip is just plain fucking creepy but what do i know?
-
I laughed when the head of mobile phones at Samsung (ex-head of air conditioning, long career in their life insurance division, then finished his training in their Machine tools business) saying, yes, Samsung had a watch in development. Definitely. They couldnt tell us any details but they definitely had one. No one in the supply chain knows anything about this but they definitely have plans for one. As soon as the first prototype iWatches with their ergonomic glass wrists come out, they will tell us all about it. Honestly Renton, you talk through your ring-piece when it comes to tech.

http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/19942-privatise-the-nhs/page__hl__%2Bprivatise+%2Bnhs Whilst I share concerns with current policy, that BMJ interview is a load of polemic with little of no substance. These reforms are just another go at tweaking the purchaser-provider split, the NHS will still purchase your care, providers may be private. However, the commissioning groups retain the power and if providers sacrifice patient care for their own profit then the commissioning groups are still free to purchase services from providers who do not extract value from the system. This is not really about patient choice, it's about resource allocation mechanisms that respond to efficiency incentives. There are huge risks on the proposed set up but with the right regulation there should be a way of ensuring patient outcomes are not sacrificed. The devil is in the detail which is just emerging. Plenty of profit is made by private 'suppliers' to the NHS so the principle of a wholly public system is a myth anyway.

Just had a week at the Roca Nivaria, there were some other places I would have preferred but the baby/mini-club swung it. Weather was awesome for time of year. Nice Spa, few games of tennis, round of golf. Got a couple of good restaurant recommends if your're interested. We did half board as we wanted to get out an about, the interior of the island is really amazing. We got a suite at the hotel and they upgraded us to a superior suite which apparently they do if the hotel is not full. Was excellent if not a little bit expensive for a week. Not exactly perfect but to be expected given the size. I complained about an incident on the last night at one of the restaurants, 30 minutes later a bottle of champagne and a load of strawberries were delivered to the room which was cool.
