So what's your point re: Cabaye, play him behind the back 4. He's a central midfielder but i would not play him advanced as he cant run with the ball and has no pace. His best position is as a playmaker, i'd just stick him in a diamond. Quite right about Tiote. Sissoko on the right, Snodgrass on the left, Tiote on the bench, Rush goalie.

I'd like to see Cabaye at the base of a midfield diamond with Tiote and Sissoko either side of him, Ben Arfa at the top with Cisse and another striker playing a front 2. Or with Cisse up top by himself, Ben Arfa behind him and a 3 of Tiote, Sissoko and another midfielder. I like the look of Snodgrass at Norwich. I'd play rush goalie too.

I think a draw is quite possible, we have a massive role to play in the battle for 4th. I would prefer Spurs to go through. They are going to beat the mackems so us drawing puts them in the CL. I'd be happy with that.

I think they will be much stronger next year too. They've been decent second half of the season but for them it depends on which manager comes in and what happens to Lampard. Both City and Chelsea have got the players there already to win it next year but it all depends on which managers they bring in and how they settle.

We established that Laudrup had the same relegation problem at Getafe and Pardew's record since Christmas is better.

Another point i think its important to remember is that it is possible to make the right decision at the wrong time. Its not just a case of 'he should go and thats it'. The right thinking at the wrong time is not going to help us out. It wasnt 'paramount' that we finished top 10 this year. Not achieving a decent finish is disappointing but he doesnt need to be fired for not getting us top 8. Its only our 3rd season back after relegation, slotting straight back into 'tier 3'(?) with Liverpool consistently each season is a big ask. For all the talk of 'big clubs' and 'where we should be' amongst football fans, the stark reality of the way finance is structured is that smaller clubs have massive TV deals and massive resources, the playing field is a lot more even nowadays in the middle tiers, where clubs cant access CL and therefore overseas commercial incomes. The margins in football games are therefore smaller, the role of luck, injuries and tiredness greater. I've no doubt Pardew is far from the best manager we could have but the criticism is mis-guided at times and lacks perspective.

If he stays and we are in the same sort of position towards the end of 2013, there's no doubt in my mind that everyone will be calling for him to go. All depends on what happens over the summer.
