CT's "dinner parties" taking on a whole new perspective.
-
Be interesting to count up the number of games these players had in total during the relegation season (is that all of them that left? Including all those that left) and the number of games that the starting 11 for the last 3 games had in the relegation season. I have heard the line 'this is the same Newcastle team that went down' about 20 times this season and each time, thought, is it fuck. Anyway, go stat boy, go.

Strong statement that when even Wenger admits he was wrong about how much progres he would make in the last 12 months. If he continues to progress at the rate he has for the last 12 months (not sure how you would be up on that as a toffee) for the next 2 years, he will be a phenomenal player. He was poor for the first 3 months of last season and then started to get it together, improving rapidly towards the end of the season. He has continued that progress this season. Statements casting doubt on his progress are therefore a load of codswallop. Sorry what I meant was that he wont continue to develop... there are plenty of players who develop to a certain level and then stop due to their mentality not being what it should be.... hence the comment about Scholes etc still learning the game and improving well on in their careers. He has obviously developed from last year else he'd not have the goals or some of the performances he as done this season... my point was that will he continue to develop at the rate he has been, or just stop, as he will believe he has already made it? Its a good question and one which i'm sure everyone of us lot would love to be answered with a resounding yes. It does seem that his recent troubles have not in any way affected his form with goals coming literally the same day as appearing in on the front pages and superb performances following court appearances, a frequent occurence this term. John Terry was probably worse than Carroll at his age and he continued to progress to the highest level, as Meenz says, there is very little evidence to suggest that these things affect a players development. Its a natural fear for most coaches and fans as focus and dedication are the secret to improved performance. Personally i buy into none of the shit written about Rooney, Barton, Carroll or any of the rest of them. The gap between public perception and the reality of people's lives can not be transcended through the media. Its all a fiction that follows the same 'titillation narrative' which deliberately or not, stupefies the masses. Dont be part of the problem andy

5ft 10 and about 12 stone i think, not weighed myself for ages and lost a bit of weight recently. I was overweight a year or so back from the drink but now hardly go out, dont drink beer in the house and my diet is good. Mainly fresh fish, quite a bit of red meat but try to mix up veal, beef and lamb and not too often, loads of veg and salads, lots of different pasta and mainly fruits for snacks at home. We also eat quite of lot of lentils (with a bit of onion and lardons) when we have things like confit of duck. Given how much i smoke, my lack of regular exercise (apart from long walks on a sunday and the odd run) and the damage from years of drug abuse, my diet is the only thing keeping me alive.

You seriously think that Ashley reads anything more high-brow than the Daily Star? Dont know but i dont reckon Henry Winter wants to destabilise us, he is a good lad.

Probably will start against Accrington I would have thought. On Hughton, the test will come if/when we have a bad run - but so far so good. Yeah, but we're not going to learn anything about Vuckic when (if) he faces Accrington. No disrespect to them, but our second string should be able to beat them. We need to see how the kids stack up against Premier League opposition so if we need to throw someone on, we know who's the best shot. Even though the game was over, the intelligence and experience of the premier league players would make it a less forgiving proposition. seems like a wasted opportunity. I'd argue that you'd learn more about him in the game against Accrington then against Villa. Accrington are going to come out fighting with their fans right behind them against a Premiership side, probably offering us a tough physical game and we'd be able to see whether he's got the mentality to handle that sort of environment. Whereas I don't think you're going to learn anything putting him on when we're 4-0 up in a game which had basically turned into an exhibition with Villa looking an absolute shambles of a team and who had virtually given up. I don't think it's a dig at Hughton or us, he's simply saying that Spurs will want a bigger name manager now that they're in the CL, which they probably will. We know better than most clubs that big name managers can't guarantee success. At first this article irked me then i realised that after Redknapp and CL football, there is not a chance in hell they will go for Hughton, Spurs will bring in a big name manager imo. This article was Winter putting fearful thoughts into Ashley's head to encourage the new contract as thats the effect i can see it having.

'We want curly hair 2' is the best one i've seen.

2:17 is pure comedy genius. Its alright to laugh, they think its funny too.

Dominoes pizza on the bus? Like that scene out of The Hangover with the tuxedoes?

Would Ben Arfa start in our team at the minute?

Jonas was gash yesterday but that understanding he has with Enrique is very valuable. His defensive work rate is very good too. -
I know yesterday was probably a bigger result than last week in the grand scheme of things but i presume Nolan and Carrol weren't out giving it the large one last night.
-
Big if but if we manage to beat Blackburn and Fulham then the phrase 'storming the premiership' would not be inappropriate. Bit early for that yet though.

Macbeth 'Owning a football club is just like owning a house and having a mortgage' Baggio 'We wont get relegated' Pair of tits.

Billy is playing mind-games, dont underestimate this lot. Pederson had a good game on saturday where they managed to beat Wigan at home. We never really looked like beating them the other week. Anyone else think that the late Colocinni equaliser was a turning point for the season by the way? Unlucky away to City, last gasp equaliser at home to Wigan and then 3 wins on the bounce in the league with performances to match. Unlikely we'll play anything like we did against the mackems but lets hope for some Shola or Nolan magic again.
-
When he was talking about the support yesterday sticking with the team through thick and thin, i was really hoping he was going to refer back to some of our away attendances last season against some unfashionable opposition. I reckon it was going through his mind but stopped himself because it would not have been polite. Nice quotes in yesterday's Sunday Sun too about him falling in love with the region and calling us a 'magnificent club'. I was ready to bend over before yesterday's result, obviously now am gagging for it. Absolutely love him.
-
Me too, Simpson was excellent yesterday. He has completely bought into the whole vibe around the club and team spirit, looks delighted to be part of it. Hoyed his shirt into the crowd at the end.
-
Especially when it took Fabergas 3/4 of a game where he was being a right cheating twat to get one also. True but despite that i thought Mike Dean had a decent game yesterday.
-
I'm not quite sure whether Barton is talking about Kevin Nolan getting pictures on his phone, Andy Carroll being ridden in the pool room, or just the team in general. Whatever the case Did you hear Richard Keys afterwards? "What was Joey Barton saying, nobody has been criticising Newcastle have they?"
-
Best away record in the premiership. Fucking hell. Closed the gap on Arsenal
-
Lets hope Mike Dean doesnt give it the usual big club refereeing performance. If we're in the game, there will be niggle with this lot. Hope we keep 11 on the pitch.
-
Flat across the middle and they will pass straight through us but with the sort of diamond shape we have with Tiote sitting and Nolan supporting the front 2, we may stifle them and force them wide. A lot will depend on the front 2 working well to ensure one of them drops deep (usually Carroll) to help out. Doesnt always have to be him though, hope Shola puts in a shift too.

Round-toed shoes on proper trousers or a suit look shit. Obviously depends on how long and pointy they are too, anything where your foot finishes a couple of inches before the end of the shoe is manc-mag territory.
