  1. Obama wasn't exactly leaning on any democrats to vote along party lines....lines that he dictates. Why do you think he needs to lean on his fellow democrats at all? On such a clear cut issue that the majority want, why would he need to jivvy-up the troops? Not sure how to interpret the idea that he chose a deliberately risky path through the law for the Guantanamo proposals. Its as though the suggestion is he is evil and not to be trusted. Which is funnily enough pretty much on GOP's messaging. Which has been my point all along.
  2. Our ability to emulate Arsenal's style of play this year has also been disappointing. However, i agree it is too simplistic to say that about Guantanamo, he tried he failed etc. BUT.. i am not sure that quoting someone who comes out with... "the fact that they got off the farm from where the administration, his first promise, a very symbolic promise with enormous due process implications. But frankly when the party in power under the president doesn't happen readily or easily, or should of, the fact is people got off the farm they were allowed to get off the farm" .. helps your cause in any way. Does this man model himself on John Prescott?

If by 'it tasted like cow' you meant 'it tasted like beef' then i reckon you are alright. If on the other hand by 'it tasted like cow' you meant 'what cows smell like when you go near farms and that' then not ok.
  5. 3.5m I head the popping sound when that came out of your ass.
  6. Couldn't disagree more, I think this is a really really good buy, he was tremendous when he first burst on to the scene at Palace, was quickly snapped up by the yids but Lennon's progress and a serious injury set him back and he was loaned out. Here this season I'm not just saying this but he is a player that stuck out for me of nearly anyone in this division, kept on running wide kept the ball well, was quick, this is a good signing. I think this buy has been made purely cos he thinks Pancrate is shite but we'll see. A positive signing for Newcastle without a doubt at this stage in our development, genuinely pleased. I remember him at Palace. Very exciting prospect. Aside from spurs he's been at Pompey, villa and fulham and done f-all at any of them. Hope I'm wrong about him, however as we're crying out for pace. He's the best player I've seen at St James' this season and honestly I am not just saying that. Enrique shirley?
  7. Well Guthrie back in the middle is good enough at the moment I think. Aye, i was going to say hopefully it would mean Guthrie in the middle then i stopped myself. Best mid range passer we have. FACT. Nah, thats Barton imo but anyway, its not me that needs convincing.

  9. I hope its not a solution to the lack of creativity in the team and just good business for a right winger.
  10. It should have a wooded nose with notes of prunes apparently.
  11. I see. I do get the impression that some people just dont want to be nervous about us going up so they want us to be so convincing that not only will we be 6+ points clear at the top but also our performances add to our confidence each week. Would be great, yeah. Another thing i see (not on here) which is related, is the desire (expectation) to dominate teams in terms of performance and goals and then 'butter wouldnt melt' posts when confronted with accusations of arrogance from other teams. Well that desire and ultimate frustration when it doesnt arrive can look like inflated expectations anyway. I wouldnt blame opposition fans for thinking we are arrogant when we are top of the table and complaining about the performances, as though fighting to get past teams like Preston and Sheff Utd is beneath us. Its going to be a tough few months, i'd say the performances arent going to be so convincing that you'll feel comfortable about promotion until the day it arrives, if it arrives. I can see us in the play-offs just as easily as being champions.
  12. It wasnt meant harshly (soz) but i'd extend the same sort of sentiments to all our fans. We cant spend countless hours post-match bemoaning the immobility of our central midfield, the erratic and inconsistent wing play and the inability of our strikers to hit a barn door and then expect them to go out and play like Arsenal. The general consensus of the season seems to be we are just enough less shit than most other teams to do alright. Thats because the ability in the squad is not that amazing. Of course it would be great for the reasons you state, it might get them playing with more confidence and bringing our their ability more. However, i'm not that convinced of their ability in relation to other teams, especially after our last two matches. I'd rather see us play to our strengths and deliver 3 points. well what else are we supposed to do? we've not got anything else to talk about Eh? Just saying one isnt consistent with the other.
  13. You seem to be saying the left shouldn't complain, because America is a predominantly right wing country with a right wing media who will spin the facts that justify those complaints to portray the left negatively. How do you see supporting Obama's corporatist, war mongering, civil liberties eroding agenda as having a positive effect for liberals? Would Fox suddenly start championing the black man? He was refused funding by the Senate for Guantanamo, they voted against him, yet the far left feel the need to villify him for this. Its illogical in some cases. As for the progress of change, its like a set of football fans of a newly promoted club clamouring for the manager to go because they arent top of the premiership. I think some of the younger democrats havent really got a clue about what it means to hold and retain power. Some things just take time. Its the excess of criticism that worries and bemuses me. I'm not comfortable with your association of Obama with corporatism, war-mongering or the erosion of civil liberties. The world is corporatist now, it used to just be the west but not anymore, thats a fact of life. Bush was a war mongerer, think that harsh on Obama and isnt the erosion of civil liberties characteristic of most societies in the 21st century?
  14. i couldn't stick it the whole way through, i just found it soooo slow going Well it was interesting way to examine how absurd religions are when it comes to practical advice about life. I did wonder whether the inability of the rabbis to shed light on the main characters problems was played out overall in the film in that it didnt offer any answers either, hence the ending.
  15. Football related? Depends I'm open to offers.

  17. A Serious Man, the new Coen brothers. Was good if not brilliant and had another confusing ending that came out of the blue.
  18. This. We need a convincing win. Grow up the pair of you, we dont need convincing of anything, we know the ability of the players and the problems in the squad. We need some new players but short of that, we need 3 points.
  19. Two points. Firstly, whilst posting a story into a forum that is read by hundreds of people not even engaged in the US political process, it is a little incredulous to use arguments on unique page impressions of those websites as evidence that their reach is limited. Secondly, politics is about PR and messages, so to understand the impact of the far-left you need to examine how the far left has been reported, not what they have reported.
  20. My christmas present wine arrived today but am not drinking it, its going down till 2011. Premier Cru, Santenay, 2007.
