I got tippped Cousin Vinny last night as a dead cert from an Irish Horse Owner/trainer.

Some interesting points been raised in this thread, however, a couple of observations. Jonny saying he 'dabbles' Righto. Also, the attitude of the non-drinkers seems to be "i dont want to blow 60 quid on a night out' or 'I dont want to get mashed up". Very bizarre for me, i know a lot of people who drink one or two 'glasses' when they go out and no more. The idea of eating great food without a decent bottle of wine is fucking sacrilege to me too. Why do the non-drinkers equate drinking to getting drunk? When i smoke blow, i dont smoke it until i cant speak or move (except round at alex's on the odd occasion), so why when discussing alcohol does it have to be avoided otherwise you end up bladdered? What happened to moderation?

I wonder where all this interference was that we've heard so much about then? If KK signed Bassong and either signed and was happy with eveyone else (on the record) then does this mean that Keegan left because of a disagreement over James fucking Milner, Xisco and Nacho? Is that it? What a waste of time if thats what it boiled down to.

Not read that, just checked it out on Amazon, looks good. Am also re-reading Popper's All Life Is Problem Solving, which i'd recommend to anyone looking for an interesting collection of philosophical essays.

We Are Now Beginning Our Descent - James Meek Also wrote The People's Act Of Love, which i'd recommend highly. His latest is about a journalist covering the war in Afghanistan. Great writer.

Keynes will be turning in his grave.

Lord Miners (or whatever he's called) reviewed this and as an expert in these matters should have seen the discretionary clause. Either incompetence or complicity.

Speaking of Thatcher why are the BBC running programme after programme about her at the minute? Did she kick the bucket and I missed the party? Revising her revised legacy. New Labour embraced Market economics and had a decade of proof that it worked. The credit crunch has again revised the received wisdom of her ideology.

Englishmen live in large houses with gardens, Italians live in sweaty cramped rat-infested streets with plumbing systems installed by some bloke called Julius. Etc.

Parky nearly died, he told me the story. Happened in Paris iirc.

Did you ever frequent the Heavenly Social ? Not the one at the Albany but went to a couple of the Heavenly nights at Turnmills and been into the bar a couple of times. I used to drink in The Steeles all the time (featured in Goal the movie bizzarely) and there were loads of famous people used to drink in there including Michael Barrymore Chris Evans and Helena Bonham-Carter who was famous for standing up to all the hard cunts who drank in there over the noise from the pub. Got stoned with Liam Gallagher once too.

Why else do we get so pissed?

Met and went backstage with Kurt Cobain at his first ever gig in the UK at the Riverside in Newcastle. They were the support for Tad but me and mate went to see Nirvana off hearing Spank Thru, their second (?) single. Met Puff Daddy and Jamiroquai in the VVVIP of Manumission in Ibiza. Hung out with Bassment Jaxx a few times, had the whole crew and backing group into my local to watch an England game. No one knew who the fuck they were. Spent 20 minutes with Habib Beye in January, we flew to France together and i sat next to him on the bus to the terminal (he said 2 months at the time). Loads of DJs and producer, i once kicked Ed Chemical up the arse in Home in London, then bought him a drink to apologise, for no apparent reason other than intoxication with MDMA and booze.

You mean fop fuming now that there is concrete evidence that pharma companies are part of the solution (as i've maintained) rather than part of the problem (as you've maintained). Basically, this is the final nail in the coffin or your naive arguments. They've come around to Fop's way of thinking, everyone does in the end, even if they hate themselves for it (and they also know where the money is long-term). Its not about money, its about partnership and solving the reputational issue to clear the way for more useful discussions on global access. No, you're way of thinking would have meant no pharma company to invest even this small amount, as your philosophy was to use public money to fund drug research, not private - remember that. To even claim you've even touched this debate in a meaningful manner just shows your age, whether that be mental or actual. Nice try. Fortunately Fop knows best, as this clearly shows. Less than 1% of the company's income with no commercial upside? I'm not sure if you're just very good, or you actually believe that. Both.

I was at the House of Blues in Chicago last year (at a BB King gig) and they were id'ing everyone at the bar. One old gentlemen (who i later found out had worked on the construction of the building) was asked for ID and for ID for 'the person taking the other accompanying beverage' he had ordered. He yelled "she's 62 for gawds sake!' and got in a right strop. Officious ID'ing is quite offensive imo.

The biggest shock for me is finding out Dominos used real bacon.

I like him. I noticed the sharing knowledge bit. What does it mean? Put any chemicals or processes over which GSK has intellectual property rights that are relevant to finding drugs for neglected diseases into a "patent pool", so they can be explored by other researchers. This may help innovation in diseases which tend to be only found in the poorest countries.

Andrew is that cool we nicknamed him 'witty cent'.

Prevention is always better than cure. I smoke a lot but i think getting information to kids in a balanced way is the right thing to do as if they want to do it, they will do it anyway with or without the right information.
