  1. Depends on allocation I'd imagine mate, and obviously being easy to get to will have a bearing. PM me nearer the time...got a few irons in the fire if the need arises.
  2. Toure scores for citeh v QPR.....Fabio appears to be playing left back for QPR....is it just me or were we in the market for a fullback or two this season?....
  3. Went for a couple in Brewdog on Wedsnesday early evening.....wasn't best impressed with any of it, including the beer tbh. The manager stood behind the bar was wearing what I call a "Lester Piggott" cap, the sort youngsters of a certain type seem to think makes them look....well, I dunno, a fuckin fashion victim perhaps? Anyway, thinking of others as per usual, I asked "what cider do you do mate?"...."errr....we don't, err, I mean we havent had a delivery this week..." NO FUCKIN CIDER???!! is what I wanted to say when seeing the effect this news had on Mrs PLs facial expression, but I refrained....she doesnt drink wine either, and definetly not beer of any description. So she was a bit stuck really, which is piss poor on their part iyam. "Try this" he said, pouring a thimble full of whisky with bubbles in it into a glass. Not wanting to cause a scene, she said "yeah, its ok" and I ordered the weakest beer they had on that day, a pint of 5 am saint which is, at 5.4% abv, is stronger than Stela Artois. So a session in there was seemingly out of the question, due to them thinking its ok to serve industrial strength superbrews instead of something you can happily guzzle a half dozen or so of in pint form. The place itself stank of damp. Fair enough its near the river but ffs, it was awful. The clientele was a mix.....the ultra trendy, folk in from work for a jar, and a couple with "professional real ale connisseurs" written all over their earnest expressions, no doubt in to see what the new kid in town had to offer. They looked puzzled by the whole thing from the word go, eyeing their pints shiftily, looking around self conciously as if theyd just arrived naked on earth from the future. They drank up sharpish a did one, can't blame them tbh. Decor was trendy, sort of "minimalist-industrial"; in other words trying too hard to appear "edgy". J69 might enjoy it though, theyve got a fuckin pinball machine too So we strolled out, the missus not impressed as, surpise surprise, she couldnt finsish her "dram". So to placate her we went to Revolution for a cocktail. It was still light and it has to be said inside its an amazing bar, very good conversion job.She was well happy afer that, we then went to the Forth, where she saw what a proper bar offering a good selection of ales and ciders is like. They had SEVEN ciders on offer, take that Brewdog! She loved the place, its a great boozer it has to be said. Went to Bodega too, and some scran down Stowell Street too. Good night all in all, but although I'd gove Brewdog a go elsewhere, cant see me calling into the Dean Street gaff again. So, as antidote to all that is new and trendy, this is a bar called The Cambridge Blue we were in on Thursday night, in err..Cambridge Utterly, utterly fabulous place. Hope CT doesnt see this in the taxi on his phone, he's likely to make a mess of the upholstery hows this for a beer fridge CT? The bar....a fair choice on draft, as you can see...fuckin 25 draft beers! Its an amazing place. In a terraced street, off Mill Road in Cambridge for anyone in the area.
  4. Mrs PL was wondering what I was laughing at on here, so I showed her. She recommends this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Premier-Housewares-Cookbook-Stand-Black/dp/B002J9T3FS/ref=sr_1_12?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1346513282&sr=1-12
  5. Not having that. The same policy was proclaimed widely on here as brilllant when it worked a treat last season, but now its shite? Cant have it both ways. The policy is the policy.
  6. Thats a fuckin ban for you like CT Cant say am too impressed myself and I think my fears about squad depth around the time we qualified for Europe (for which I was fuckin annihilated) have been proved fairly accuarate. The Europa league is only a big deal financially if we reach the semi's, and with a domestic campaign far harder physically than in any other European country I think thats unlikely. But you never know, we'll see how we cope with Thursday/Sunday and see who comes in January. Going to Bruges and Bordeaux so really looking forward to that. Bottom line is we've kept last seasons top players which was my big fear. That has to make this a 5/10 window, regardless of what the FM brigade say. Some of us are old enough to remember when we were truly shit so appreciate what we have at the moment, and also with enough memory to remember the unbridled joy of May this year on here and the scorn those who said "wait a minute" had poured on them

  8. Does he bathe in asses milk or something? I'm much the same as him, doing well at the moment, but its in a traditional working class business which now pays very well. My old man was a joiner and my mum was a home help. Our house was and is a shrine to literature, theres books everywhere. Is that middle class? It seems like it might be to some on here, but trying to educate and improve yourself or just simply taking an interest in the world around you isnt the preserve of doctors or lawyers, its for everyone if they choose to do it.
  9. I'm surprised we didnt go for Clyne tbh, the Debuchy deal has been dead for weeks. If we wanted a cut price half decent right back he was the best out there. Palace want 4mill, Southampton are offering 1.5, so the compromise will be 3ish. Good price, he's looks a good player.
  10. oh sorry old son, it wouldnt let me quote you a few minutes ago. I was a member of the eetpu, now Unite as you say. Are you the ghost of Len Chapple?
  11. And it looks like Gene's blocked me, for saying he's a prole like the rest of us Howman why are you literally posting (about) shit on here instead of enjoying your holiday? LTB I think the bloke with the sellotape may be on secondment at BAE Portsmouth...
  12. The point remains. None of that means you're middle class. Wanting to better yourself is natural and millions succeed in doing it. Quoting a few poncey words doesnt mean theyll accept you into something like the Reform Club, where class means a huge amount. Are you associated with anything that gives a fuck who you're old man was?...if you are, thats to do with class. If not, thats to do with how youve turned out yourself.
  13. Just because you want to educate yourself doesnt mean youre middle class.....unless you despise those who brought you into the enviroment you were brought up in, which is a whole other can of psycological worms...
  14. theres some real wummers on here nowadays...Gene's one of them, or he was the worlds dullest teenager
  15. Lack of other options? see also Michael Owen 2005.
  16. There you go. Income has changed, but class desnt change with it iyam. Good on your old dear.
  17. How come they were big mates then?....Sir Bob and Fergie both disliked Clough as it goes, and he did have a reputation for pissing his peers off badly. No one says things like that about Fergie. Fergie has huge power in the gme, hes the "go to" man for directors for references before they appoint managers, and for his fellow managers before they buy players, second opinion sort of thing. I imagine that pisses a lot of people off. The way hes come across via the media since hes been manager at manu doesnt bother me in the slightest. He likes to be in control, and makes sure he is. Nowt wrong with that, the image that portrays is irrelevent.
  18. Yeah but that would depend on what Rent's and HF's folks did for a living...if theyre doctors or lawyers then you're pretty much right. If theyre dads worked at Swan Hunters in the light plate shop probably not, more like the opposite tbh.
  19. Fuck all to do with "class", its about income. They wouldnt let any of us lot on here within a million miles of the Carlton Club in London, thats to do with class. But some of us may be able to afford the fees to join. Thats to do with income. Huge difference.
  20. Joe Harvey nearly signed Fergie from Dumfermline around 1966...he went to Rangers instead, understandable as he was brought up 100 yards away from Ibrox. A mate of mine went to a non-league managers seminar in the 90s, he's an ex semi pro player and was looking to move into the management side. The FA set it up and the list of speakers was imressive; Hoddle was the England manager at the time and he spoke, think he said Graham Taylor was there as well, cant remember who else. Anyway Fergie was booked for an hour in the afternoon but spoke for 3 and my mate said he learned more about football that afternoon than he had in his previous 30 odd years on the planet All his ex teamates from his playing days say he's the one who organises reunions, wip rounds when one of his ex team mates' wives has died, that sort of thing. Him and a journo called Patrick Barclay had a mutual friend who Barclay knew hadn't been well and mentioned the bloke to Fergie one day. Fergie went on to tell him what the exact nature of the problem was, what the prognosis was, the treatment he was getting etc etc...it was obvious that hed visited the mutual friend quite a lot during his illness, all this and still finding time to run arguably the worlds biggest football club. Like him or loath him, not many people he's worked with slate him. Only the bell ends in the media who he's treated with a fair bit of contempt over the years. But as somebody mentioned he's only done that to protect his players and club. He's a fuckin genius really. Wish we'd had the board with the foresight and gumption to try to get him in the mid 80s, he spoke to Wolves and Arsenal at the time so may have been open to it eventualyl joining us....our modern history wouldve been a lot different if he had.
  21. Rodger's inexperience shining through. Joke of an appointment. It has to be said that the outstanding candidate for that job was Alan Pardew
  22. We've had huge success in bringing in someone better in as well, so thats good
  23. This is Mike Ashley we're talking about, he only does a deal if it meets all his criteria. If we keep everyone we've got then under those circumstances its a good window iyam.
