    In America

Yanks It's International Burn the Koran day actually. Love the way the American's like to get us all involved in their retarded activities and sports. Re: Canada. If we compare the US to England, then that makes Canada Scotland. Which is pretty accurate imo. ummmm...no, A. canada has never been conquered by the US and is a sovereign state of its own B. while we share geography, cultural differences are far greater than similarities "conquered" in what way Mr Mooseshagger?
  2. Costanza is playing for the Swiss
  3. Stevie may know loads about NUFC but if I were him I'd give up the international predictions....didnt he say England would do great things in South Africa too?
  4. Aye... that Pedro was a fuckin lunatic right enough
  5. If you go back to the days of the 12 o'clock kick offs it was always far scarier going there than going to the village of the damned for me....worst time was an evening game in the league cup around the time Keegan was first here....big lumps of concrete being hoyed over into our bit
  6. Newcastle Online.....if someone farts in the comfort of their own home whilst perusing said forum are they also banned forever, as I've just been for the heinous crime of posting the youtube of Pedro scoring 3 v the mackems in 85? Yeah good one lads....the copyright for a piece of local news footage from the best part of 30 years ago? Do you fear incurring the wrath of the huge corporate behemoth of broadcasting that is TyneTees? Theres a nice little drop down too: All seems a bit of an overreaction to me.....where do they stand on the hanging debate?...for all posters using the forum whilst not dressed in the latest first team strip? (including "premier league badges on shirt") I very seldom post on there anyway, and as a first offence it's hardly up there with pegging the host's missus....are they all a bit touchy or is it a just a bad time for them at the moment?
  7. Is this the one in someones front room in a coronation street terraced house round the corner from Goodison?

    Thems

I've had this with you before...its not They are both (that is the Geordie and the Lowlands Scots dialects, because thats what they are, dialects) from the Anglian root of what is now called called Old English. The oldest existing poem in Old English is by a bard called Aneirin, where he describes a raid form old Northumbria down to Catterick. You can see what remains of it it in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, where it was written 1400 years ago. Yes, indeed you're correct. What I should be saying is that the Scottish dialect is heavily infuenced from Northumbrian Old English 1400 years ago Northumbria strecthed from Edinburgh to North Yorkshire so the people on both sides of the Tweed spoke pretty much the same language. The big change came after the Battle of Carham in 1018 when Malcom II,King of Scots, defeated a Northumbrian army on the banks of the Tweed between Kelso and Coldstream. Its a little known punch up, but it basically created the Tweed as the border between England and Scotland, as it remains to this day. This is the point where the common language split into different dialects, but still using the same words..e.g. bairn, cuddy, lowse etc etc...to the modern ear those north of the Tweed got a dialect with much in common with other parts of Scotland but it is very different from the dialect in Glasgow or Inverness etc. The Gaelic speeaking kings of Scotland, who had been seeking to expand into the Lothians and Borders for around 100 years before the battle, were completely alien to the natives of the Tweed valley, who had been under the influence of the prince bishops at Durham Cathedral (the real power in Nothumbria, despite the Dukes at Bamburgh) for 400 years at that point. And it took a long time for that influence to truly fade; up until the mid 1800s the middle arch on the old bridge at Berwick marked the border between Berwick town council and land owned and goverened by the Church of England at Durham
  11. The present crop of players love their wages more than they love the game, that is why they need fuckin motivating to play for their country. Rooney and co can have as many photo shoots with them draped or painted with the St George's cross as they want, its all just fuckin lip service. Not fit to lace Terry Butcher's boots, any of them. As was said after the world cup, we've tried every type of manager since 1990 and none of them have come anywhere near what that group of players acheived. Its largley the players who should take the blame, spoiled by being millionaires at 21 if you ask me.
  12. Sniffs mate, take it from me there is no comparison. Bafra is simply the most gifted of the three musketeers at Clairfontayne: Benzema, Nasri and Bafra. It is like a dream to me that he will wear our shirt. I think it will only take 5 games for you to see what I mean. Use the force Luke. P. Ok obi wan, in view of that little gem of wisdom (source?) why didnt Wenger make a bid for him at any point in the last 4 years or so? and is it Bafra to his friends or is that just what he's been christened on't'internet? I don't propose to know the mind of Wenger, sorry. But I'd hazzard a guess that he thinks Nasri is a more composed hard working player, with nearly the same skills. Wenger has said good things about a whole bunch of French players, but that doesn't mean he has to go out and buy every one of them or there is something wrong. Psychologically, Nasri is ahead of the three and really gets on with it although allegedly is a pain in the arse as well, but hasn't the forte for histrionics a la Bafra. Wenger has also failed to buy a proper keeper for how long is it now? And another thing, VP isn't the answer to tight games like Drogba, Berb or Tevez are. The thing is, regardless of how talented he is (and its plain that'll be "very") you seem to be overlooking what we do know about him.....he's broke his contract at two clubs by just walking out and he's so pleased to be playing in front of us at SJP he' signed for the whole of this season......sorry to piss on your parade but I'm with sniffer on this....he's trouble and is using us as a stepping stone...probably to fuckin Arsenal Prozac? Denial isn't a river in Africa old son I hope he's better than Cruyff, plays for us until he's 40 and lives in a flat above a shop in fuckin Benwell but its all highly unlikely

  15. How many players come out with this shit when they move clubs though? Fair play to the lad if it's true but it all comes with a mine full of salt for me.
  16. I can't honestly think of any other reason to turn down Milan and Werder Bremen...was there anyone else?..Liverpool?..hate saying it, but they're all more attractive than us at the moment. And didnt his agent say that they were told to find a new club (i.e. us) and he wasn't allowed to go because Milan wanted to pay cash now rather than a loan? It all points to us offering the most dosh for me. We're paying some players 50k+ a week. No player coming in is reportedly on more than 25k. But Mike Ashley could also say the moon is made of green cheese and it would be about as truthful coming from that fuckers gob. Based on nowt then. Fair enough. That bold bit makes no sense either, L'OM wanted to sell him outright and not loan him to us. It was reported in the french press that firm offers to buy him were on the table. It seems other clubs were in for him but he had his heart set on coming to us. No one knows for sure but nothing i've read since the end of July has suggested we were offering massive wages and thats why he was coming to us. I could equally put forward the view that he has been a life-long fan and has always dreamed of playing for NUFC. In fact that (daft) opinion is actually supported by the fact that he is with us. As you say, we don't know for sure, but for me money motivates some players more than the glory of champions league football. Or as mentioned the likes of Milan and Bremen passed and he came back to us with his tale between his legs last week.

Werder Bremen have too many quality mf's and they couldn't guarantee him a first team place, which is what I belive what CH has. I also believe he single mindedly wanted to come here. He is a bit mad. Us being the last resort when all other more attractive options have been exhausted is very likely too Not keen on his agent doing a lot of his talking in the media either, that always makes me suspicious....why did a deal which was dead a week ago suddenly spring back to life?

  20. Strange as it may seem, I think we just offered him the most money and the deal is flexible enough so now that he'll be playing in the worlds biggest shop window he may be able to go for big money next summer, if he's any good like. I don't buy the bollocks about the atmosphere on Saturday either, it wasnt bad and there were some toon ultra types singing songs about him but anyone who's been to the Velodrome in Marseille will know he's used to big atmospheres most weeks. I think he's trouble, but we haven't paid a fee and hes ours for season. Could be worse but I'm not building my hopes up.
  21. I was there yesterday and we played more actual "football" than in about a dozen away games put together last season...on that evidence CH may be trying to change the way we play away from home. If this is the case, then he may well have learned from watching promoted sides in the recent past go into away games with 10 players behind the ball and trying to shut up shop and coming away with nowt. Fair play to him if this is the case, you need points to stay (and indeed prosper) in this league and going for it away from home in a controlled way like yesterday may well be the way to go.
