  1. Aye we need to decide on an area. I keep hearing the back of the Gallowgate has plenty of spare seats, not many Season Ticket Holders there. An advantage would be the roof keeping the noise enclosed, and also being next to the strawberry corner. On the downside a slightly limited view and no crack with the away fans. Im not sure how many season ticket holders leazes corner level 4 holds, anyone? Good part of there is the away fans being in view and possibility of banter with them. Where ever we go, if theres good numbers, then standing should be a problem, if 2,000 - 3,000 are together on it.
  2. Playing devils advocate isnt the 'double your wages' bit is surley irrelevant if you dont want to go (I say that in the context of simply adding a few extra digits to an already gigantic bank balance) and if your pissed off at the owner. What better way to stick two fingers at Ashley by saying 'I'm not going, cheers'? and just continuing where he was, scoring goals and loving his time at Newcastle. No doubt Ashley has been a bastard yet again, and the david craig stuff is bollocks, but I'd have loved Carroll to dismiss the move.
  3. Some might say he should have stayed. Mike Ashley wanted him to go; Pardew didnt, the fans didnt, the players didnt. Why not honour the contract? I just hope the truth comes out.
  4. They've been fucked over too. Forget about money, they were united behind the manager, a manager who was doing well especially under the circumstances, the manager and players had worked hard to gain momentum, to form togetherness, something which dosent just come along easily in football, and in turn momentum for the man at the top, MA. He thanked them by deciding to wipe that all away all in the reason of getting a mate in charge.
  5. Bugger the cold mate, I think the idea that should be pushed for everyone is a susatained boycott! Whether your outside the ground venting your anger at the same time or just at home is up to you, but an empty seat staring him in the face is the biggest fuck you we can give him. There is the drip-drip effect, once people commit to it and word of mouth spreads then others can follow, with the mentality of 'screw this, Im not going either'. We failed to do this after he stitched Keegan up, and we should have. We believed he was going to sell up but it was bollocks with him asking for a stupid price. We should have layed our cards down then and not went back till he went, and we must take this chance and do that now imo. Why would season ticket holders not go? That's like saying Ashley would be forced to sell Sports Direct if everyone stopped shopping there....but still ordered online. Because its a visual message to Ashley of whats to come, a very powerful visual message. But if ST holders want to go then that is understandable, if everyone without a season ticket boycotted I'd like to think the drop would be sizeable.

  8. Honeslty think the best protest is a sustained boycott, with protests outside the ground through-out the match. If you already have Liverpool tickets, demonstrate before the game, abuse him relentlessley during, demonstrate again after, and dont go back inside again this season.
  9. Exactly, and I agree witht the princile people have said. I've already got tickets for Man City n Liverpool... But why dosent anyone on here try and organise something? Anyone make a facebook page? Make banners saying "Boycott Ashley FOR REAL" or something, we might aswell do things aswell as talking about them.
  10. They're mates and I suspect Ashley wants a jobs-for-the-boys enviroment.
  11. At what point do we finally say 'the club comes ahead of the team'... what is the meaning of winning games if Ashley is still ultimately in charge? I understand anyone with season tickets etc, but I just think a sustained response to this utter wanker is long over-due.
  12. What would people want from a supporters club?
  13. Can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink and all that... Just shows how ahead of the curve I was with all this. Once it became apparrent that opposition was not going to change anything they should have taken my advice and built on the good will and member base and delivered a really good supporters club. (something that tbf is scandalous a club like ours does not have). Instead, madness descended, ego battles commenced and I dare say without any change in direction, NUST will vanish without a trace very soon. Its probably a shame that they did not hold the elections, prior to membership renewal, as this would have allowed members to stand who offered something different. Now its probably on mates and apathetics who are left and as such there will be no change. Shame when all is said and done. I have to say I totally agree with you. Me too. The idea of a decent supporters club is a good one, but egos seem to have ran away with it now. It goes without saying that I didn't renew. But if people renew and put forward their thoughts the council, and also vote them out, then surley you act upon how you feel?
  14. The thing that makes me a bit suspicious is the fact Hughtons contract hasnt been renewed. It'd be really suprising if Ashley sacked Hughton, would he really be doing it to get someone like Martin Jol in, showing genuine ambition for the club?? The chances of that are very slim! So if he'd do it to get Joe Kinnear in what the hell is going on there, how is that anything like an improvement over Hughton?
  15. Like others have said, the problem isnt Hughton, its Ashley. We've competed well in most games imo, Stoke & Wigan are the 2 games that stick out as really bad performances, we battered Blackpool 2nd half & created loads of chances. We lack some quality in the final third, and after the poor support financially (would an extra 5-10m really have put us in finanical danger mike?) Hughton got in the transfer window it was always going to be a tough battle over the course of the season.
  16. This is on the NUST forum: amuckle wrote: "Feels like a "fan club" now, to be brutally honest i'd forgotten to renew until now (which is sad seeing as i was quick to sign up), and sort of sums up the way things have headed. I signed up before we became the trust, hoping to get some say in the club etc like i'd assume 90% of the members, and as admirable as all the little competitions and charity news pieces are... it's not exactly the things I (and i'm sure a vast majority of other members) were worried about being covered. Basically we've signed up, got a key ring some stickers a membership card and a newsletter once a month that has as much about other clubs as it does our own in it. Least the last time i signed up to something similar i got the same sort of things above but some free sweets and all (The Beano) (Response) The difference here being that if you are unhappy with the direction of the trust over the course of the year then you have the opportunity to change it by voting in somebody that more closely represents your views and desires next time around. For that reason I'm glad that despite your current misgivings about the way the Trust is being run by the current board you chose, as I did, to renew and have your continued say in its future. There's a worrying misrepresentation that the Trust will live or die based on who is in the seat of power but that's a falicy to be honest. The Trust will live or die based on the desire of Newcastle United Supporters to have a Trust. It can be whatever we want it to be really but for that to happen takes people to step forward and be actively involved. People choosing not to renew because they unhappy with the way things are going illustrates a basic failure to understand exactly what a trust is and a failure to understand the principles of a democracy. If, as a group of fans, we can't be bothered to pay a fiver a year to have a recognised supporters body then, frankly, its no wonder we are in the plight we are in and are trampled on time and again by owners. Incidently I used the "Ask The Trust" section of the website to follow up Tom's question about the AGM and have been informed it is going to be held in January. This is within the timeframe of one year from the election of the recently appointed board so despite false allegations to the contrary no constitutional rules are being broken here. the Trust will hold an AGM and we'll all, I'm sure be able to attend and have our say...except those of us who have failed to renew that is... "
  17. I don't really know what the aims are any more which is why I'm not sure about renewing. Perhaps they need to tell us exactly what they are. I know a tenner isn't much in the grand scheme of things but I still want to know where it's going before handing it over. tbh I think people need to be telling them stuff like this because at the moment theres a blinkered view from a section of the board (unfortunately, the section that has the power) who think that everything they do is fantastic and the members love it all. These people have predicted they'll get nigh on full renewals and additional new members of around 300 this year, something which personally I think is absoulte shite. I would strongly urge any member who isnt sure about renewing to let them know their concerns otherwise its just going to continue going downhill which would be a shame. Theres a forum on the site, get on there and post the reasons, use the new "Ask the Board" facility or simply make it clear on places such as this which will get fedback. What should be the main aim of the Trust be in your opinion, how do you view the purpose of a supporters trust? (not implying anything btw, just purley random)
  18. erm...keep protesting? they will be screaming out for investment though. More like screaming for his head more than anything else because they know there isnt much money for players due to the way they have financed things?
  19. Surley its common sense that you want to be somewhere between out of control debt and tightening the purse strings so much so its neglacting the duty to invest & strenghten the team?

  21. I can understand making sure the club dont financially cripple themselves with over-spending this summer, I do think the team spirit/togtherness we have does make some difference compared to 08/09, I do trust Hughton to get the best from the squad and think its good if players like Vuckic get a chance to do well and develop. But to say the 5 year plan is to break even by 2015 is as un-ambitious as it is over-ambitious to spend 50m every window until 2015. Theres a middle ground somewhere, and a moderate, sensible budget given to Hughton (12-15m) would help most of the current players to play to their best next season, not shove them to one side, and at the same time would not put the club at risk of financial meltdown (be that by numbers or the fact our survival chances would be boosted).

  23. Aye I'm sure there will be 2 or 3 new players, they just wont amount to much money (5m? 6m?). I might be wrong here, but if Ashley really had no intention to claim back his loan then it would make sense to convert the loan into shares, like Abramovich & the Man City owner have done?
