  1. They are definitely speed cameras, if you take a look when you pass them they have the word truvelo written on them, same as the picture. I went down the coast road this morning and never noticed anything different, the only cameras I saw were the ones Ive already mentioned. If theyre the average speed ones then they need to tell you, wherever these appear theres always signs beforehand telling you that its based on the average speed over the distance. They are also suspended overhead
  2. They're not the average distance ones they're Truvelo's which clock you as you approach rather than passing, theres, one set down at Cradlewell and one at the Coach Road junction.
  3. That doesn't even make sense - we're talking about the media so that implies I think the Government are ignoring certain issues? Anyway, never mind. Was that a "talk to the hand" moment? I was talking about the media but then checked whether thats what you were on about in case Id missed some fundamental shift in the discussion. No that was me pointing out you're argument didn't make sense because you seemed to be attributing something I hadn't said to me for the second time in a row. It was more of a 'what's the point?' moment. I never knowingly wrongly quoted you, if I did so then apologies, the way I saw it Bop or Perky (cant remember which) made a statement that these things were being used to keep more important issues out of the news, when I questioned what issues were more important you replied with Poverty, Education and the war. Thats where I, quite understandably assumed you meant that it was more important to discuss poverty on our front pages than a car bomb in London or apparent suicide bombers in Glasgow.
  4. That's such a pants excuse though, if you want to quit, then quit (the physical withdrawal peaks at 3-4 days and is gone within 3-4 weeks), they rest is psychological (and most people couldn't quit TV for a week). But it is more along the line of the reasoning for the ban. Agreed, but now that problem isnt there it must be easier for people to give up. I found the withdrawal didnt peak at 3-4 days, it becomes its biggest about 10 days in, the first days hard then the next few are a piece of piss and then it hits. Oh and it reappears at times later on, I find that 6 months you get cravings and then (as I found to my cost a few years ago) 7 years in. Now that you cant smoke in pubs then these people will find it that touch easier to stay off them as well.
  5. Just 54 lives, not really worth it is it? For the effect it will have on a sizebale amount of the population for just 0.0009% Hardly seems proportionate does it? The having to stand outside effect? Those poor smokers! I know you mightn't like it but you have to remember that 25% of the population still smoke, that percentage probably rises if you just surveyed regular pub goers. If this law is, as Vic says, to protect workers then it's a disproportinate measure to save just 54 lives a year. 25% of those legally allowed to smoke, ie over 16s not the overall population. Yes it goes up, it becomes 40% of those that regularly visit pubs so you're probably talking (at a guess!!) more like going back to the 25% mark. Also, 70% of smokers say they want to quit therefore this cant do anything but good for their chances as most ex-smokers state that the hardest part was when they were out with friends. Oh and source? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4709394.stm
  6. Why? Apart from my good self (and I suppose the Wall) the Tweed is by far the best thing to come out of the town I would put this fella ahead of Miss Tweedy tbh
  7. Been there done that (you gave me the link last time) it cleared some stuff and everything was fine but now its playing daft coonts again
  8. I've been having a few problems in FF for a week or two now but Ive now realised its only on this site! Basically, sometimes links work sometimes they dont, links in bold have more chance and buttons always work. Strangely though links down the left hand side of the screen have a much higher chance of working while those on the right are a friggin clickfest. So thats the reason Ive put the post in here as many people only view the Help section when they have a problem. Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing any problems with this site in general?

  10. Im not putting words into mouths, the implication made originally was that the media report these things to keep other "more important issues out of the news" issues that you then said were Iraq, education and poverty. Are you saying that education and poverty are being ignored by the government? Because thats not what Im seeing when I look at the money spent on both of those things.
  11. How come both Fop and Parky have bother quoting?
  12. Gemmill has a hefty workload... he just doesnt do it.
  13. You reckon? seriously? I was being completely serious. Each to their own like, personally I think being told whats going on day to day in the news is more important than having a 15 minute segment each day about the quality of the spelling in our skools. As for the war, you'd rather have a segment on a car bomb going off in Baghdad than Glasgow?
  14. Poverty, Education, the War. For a start. You reckon? seriously?
  15. there are times when its becoming classic Viz
  16. Gas engineers usually call because you've rang them dont they? If so, Id have thought not smoking was a good idea anyway.
  17. That bit was probably more important in what Mozza was trying to get across. My main grind with the media and its nothing to do with coverage of some nutters trying to ram buildings with gas cannisters or whatever...Is the way they manage month after month to avoid talking about the real issues that face us as a country. And having studied it in the past how this agenda is unfolded purposefully to keep us distracted and worried. Which is what? little green men? Sorry thought you were actually interested in proper ans... I am very interested to know what is a bigger issue to this country than lunatics driving carbombs round the streets.

  19. Last night proved to me why its a good thing, we were sitting in the Casino having a meal and the bloke at the table behind decided to spark up, thats ok then it was his right to, however the fact he held his tab away from his face and behind him when he wasnt dragging on it meant we got it floating through our space while eating. Inconsiderate twat wont be so happy next week.
  20. I was in that Stratsones on Felling Bypass yesterday, salesman couldnt have been more helpful, talking about what they had, were planning on getting in and then, when I was talking about wanting summit with a bit poke said he'd let me take the Limited Edition Corvette (550 BHP!!) they've got sitting and the AM DB7 out for test drives even though I pointed out the fact I was only looking to spend about half what the cheapest of the two were going for! Looking forward to them like!
  21. I believe that was one of the plots wasnt it? Ministry of Sound? Oh and what was with the "kisses from LA bit?"
  22. Was interesting last night though in the likes of the Tanners, no beer garden, nowhere to put a big gazebo or anything and a monsoon outside, wonder how many people would have taken a wander
  23. WTF? Do you work for a chreche transporting small people around the country or summit?
  24. Hey Rob they printed your letter!
