  1. I really like the version of Blaydon Races that's played at SJP at halftime. Who is it?
  2. Fair points, but what options do we have? You mention Coppell, but he's a small club manager. He lasted a month at Man City. He won't be able to handle the pressure in Newcastle and to be fair I don't think he'd want the job. The position as manager of Newcastle United is a special one, very demanding. Shearer understands the club, he understands the city and he understands the fans. I don't see any other (realistic) option, really.
  3. If he scores enough goals yes. He would have to hit like 50 odd though. Nothing's impossible for Super Shola
  4. Can you win the Golden Boot even if you don't play in the premier division?
  5. TEAMS NUFC: Steve Harper, Danny Simpson, Jose Enrique, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini, Ryan Taylor, Jonas Gutierrez, Alan Smith ©, Kevin Nolan, Shola Ameobi, Andy Carroll Subs: Tim Krul, Geremi, Xisco, Danny Guthrie, Nile Ranger, Kazenga LuaLua, Tamas Kadar SWFC: Lee Grant, Lewis Buxton, Tommy Spurr, Darren Purse, Richard Wood, Sean McAllister, Darren Potter, Michael Gray, James O'Connor, Marcus Tudgay, Jermaine Johnson Subs: Richard Hinds, Tommy Miller, Francis Jeffers, Etienne Esajas, Mark Beevers, Frank Simek, Richard O'Donnell Referee: Phil Dowd
  6. Lovenkrands could come back as a replacement for Duff, we've talked to him according to Chronicle Live. Also, they report that Liverpool have joined the battle to sign S.Taylor.
  7. Hull are supposed to be after him too. Thinking about it though he's not going to be playing to get back in to an international team, the money would likely be around the same - where would you rather go? In a shit team in the Prem where you might struggle or a bigger team in the Championship and look awesome? The dude's at the back end of his career, I know which I'd choose. I agree actually and with regards to HSs post, its foolish to wish players we have away because of potential signings, even if we bring in campbell we'll still be short on cover I agree, I would like to keep both S.Taylor and Colo. But I suspect we'll lose one of them and in that case I think it's self-evident who we should keep...
  8. Means that S. Taylor is on his way??? Or Colo, hopefully...
  9. John Beresford: "Des is a smashing bloke but I think he felt a bit intimidated by coming to a club the size of Newcastle. I can't remember who started it but he got nicknamed Bubba - the dopey character out of that Tom Hanks film, Forrest Gump."
  10. Ha ha, who's next in line, Andreas Andersson? Des Hamilton? Stephane Guivarc'h? What's scary is I'd take Ginola in a heartbeat.
  11. Will the kids get a chance? Ranger, Vucic...? I think we'll lose this one 2-1.
  12. What the fuck are these Spuds doing here in the first place anyway? And when they leave it's like they expect us to beg them to stay
  13. Sven-Göran Eriksson with a wonderful tribute to SBR in yesterdays Aftonbladet (Sweden's largest newspaper). "A fantastic man, one of the kindest I've met. He was the special one for me."
  14. He was such a great inspiration, a great manager and a great man. Give him a statue outside SJP I say. RIP Sir Bobby
  15. Exactly. I think Shearer could be a great manager in the making and more importantly; if you listen to the players there's no doubt about who they want as their manager. The last thing i care about is what those sackless bunch of wankers (the players) want. I would love keegan. I would also be happy for Al to have a go but definately unsure whether he has the x factor. Keegan oooooooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzed the x factor. I agree, Keegan has the EX factor
  16. Exactly. I think Shearer could be a great manager in the making and more importantly; if you listen to the players there's no doubt about who they want as their manager.
  17. I say Alan Shearer, without a doubt.
  18. Steven Taylor EDIT: Harper would be my 2nd choice
  19. But is Bergkamp really a striker? Isn't he more of a forward? Personally I wouldn't call him a striker. A striker, in my book, is a player whose job is to score goals. Shearer. Batistuta. Inzaghi. Owen. Attackers like Bergkamp and del Piero have other qualities and should not be described as strikers. Sure, they're great goal scorers but their main objective has not been to score goals, Bergkamp usually had Ian Wright, Anelka or Henry by his side who had the striker role.
