Robert Huth's family? 129840[/snapback]

It's an absolute travesty that a player of Rooney's class won't go to the World Cup. I would have loved to see him play, he would have been one of the stars of the tournament. Having said that, some of the pessimism is a bit over the top. England have more than a few world class players - a midfield of Lampard, Beckham, Cole and Gerrard is, on paper at least, one of the best midfields around. Also, Rooney's injury could actually take some of the pressure off the players. No-one is going to expect them to win the thing now. A lot depends on Owen's fitness though. Him and Rooney are the only proven strikers England have.

Oh well, at least Brum are relegated. We should have picked up three points today though, getting into Europe will be very hard now.
-
Sounds like it, yes. Hopefully we'll see a Mackem-like second half revival.

Emre still injured as well... I'm not too confident.

I'm gutted for England, it's a big blow. Heskey for England?
-
I'm not sure about Cantona, he's French... Scholes would be captain though and Butt would be guaranteed a place in the starting XI because they were both born in Manc-land.

Speaking of Shola, I listened to Embrace's World Cup song for the first time yesterday and it reminded me of one of their tracks on the This New Day album, called "You Will Hit The Target Every Time". Written for Shola perhaps?

You weren't talking about the players or the fans, you were talking about investors and businessmen who could get involved in the club. The thing is, no-one will even want go near the club as long as Shepherd and Hall are still around. There were a number of capable people on the board in 1998 and there was a takeover bid, but those people shied away or resigned as a result of Shepherd's and Hall's unprofessionalism. As for your comment that the fans didn't give a toss: according a BBC Online article... Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/68249.stm How Shepherd and Hall got away with it, I'll never know. It may have been an isolated incident, but it showed them up for what they are: unprofessional.
-
There would definitely be people willing to get involved in the club. The problem is the Halls and Shepherd - a lot of people won't go near the club as long as they're around, because of what they've done in the past and what they're still doing today. Remember 1998? Shepherd and Hall pissed off a lot of people and damaged the club by returning to the board after the NOTW scandal.

He should lay off the pies and start doing his job - that means leaving all footballing decisions to someone who's actually got a clue and who isn't as small-minded and parochial as he is.
-
Absolutely shocking if it's true - and seeing as it was Shepherd's mouthpiece who wrote the article, it will contain at least a grain of truth. How much more unprofessional can the fat excuse of a chairman get?

Scolari would be a good move for England. Some of the reactions have been ridiculous. Monkey's Heed comments were particularly sad: Yes, because obviously that's a lot of money to a Premiership manager.
-
I hope he will still be here next season. His game will benefit hugely from having two quick and mobile strikers playing in front of him next season. I really think it will be next to impossible to replace him with someone better when you consider that any replacement will probably cost more than we would get for him. His injuries are a concern though.
-
Didn't people say that when Souness was appointed?
-
How many full games has he played since then? Fantastic player and a terrific defender, but we should never go near him again. He makes Dyer's injury record look good.

I want Arsenal to win because they are great to watch and because I would absolutely love to see fucking Spurs get 4th place and not be able to play in the CL.
-
If Roeder gets the job, I hope we will at least get a high-profile name acting as a director of football.

Shola from the spot, get in!

Solano! 1-0

Nobby just hit the bar, great strike apparently
