1. Hence the footballing world tripping over themselves to sign him?? At such a paltry fee as well, we are led to believe?? Blackburn Rovers - says your argument doesn't hold true, Papa L 135955 Bellamy will probably move to a bigger club this summer, and fair play to him, he deserves it because he's a very, very good player. The fact that he 'only plays for Blackburn' means fuck all because he's proven this season (again) that he's one of the best strikers in the league. His injury record is more of a concern though.
2. I should have listened to the whole interview before posting this - it actually gets even better when Souness is asked about the similarities between him and Shearer. "Like Alan, I want to take responsibility. If things weren't happening, I'd want to take responsibity, rather than to be looking for excuses or pointing the finger at anybody else." Yeah, right.
3. Absolutely hilarious tbh. A bit rich coming from you, Graeme
4. Maybe he wants them in the CL instead of the Arse. Knowing Spurs they'll implode regardless, it's in their nature, and Arsenal will lose Henry and possibly others without CL football. 134466 More like 'you vote for us and we'll vote for you'. A bit like ' show me yours and I'll show you mine' and lets face it Shepherd hasnt seen his in a long long time. You're right though, Shepherd wants shooting for helping out one of our main rivals. 134507 How come when I said pretty much the same thing about Liverpool winning the CL, I was shot down in flames! Closet Liverpool fans, the lot of you 134509 I agreed with you at the time 134513 Apart from our views of Solano, we usually agree on everything 134515 It took me a while to convince Geordie Fish and David Kelly about Solano, I'm sure you'll agree with me eventually What did you think of his season? Obviously he started very slowly, but from what I saw he did quite well, apart from the odd away game when he went missing. Still one of our best and most important players when we play at home though IMO.

7. It just makes you cringe. Oliver is an embarrassment to himself. The sad thing is that the people who run the club actually agree with his bigotted mindset. And what exactly has Tommy Craig done to get himself a new 'title'?
8. Same here. To be fair to him, a lot of it is probably out of his control. Let's face it, the media would love to see him back at Liverpool and won't miss an opportunity to remind the footballing world that we weren't his first choice.
9. I agree. As for Hargreaves, I see where Isegrim is coming from when he says that he'd do well as a defensive midfielder - the problem is that I don't think Eriksson will play him there. He'll probably use him as a 'game-changer' after 70-odd minutes instead. Which is why he shouldn't be in the squad...
10. My local shop sells Portuguese beer called Superbock - dead cheap and tastes nice.
11. Had a very good second half of the season as well. Where did these rumours come from anyway?
12. I was thinking about this the other day. In the last two seasons, we've probably had more Geordies and Englishmen playing for the first team than in in the previous ten seasons combined. We've also gone from playing in the Champions League to being a mid-table team. Is there a correlation there? I'm not saying there is, but it just goes to show that people who blame everything on 'expensive foreigners' and 'disinterested mercenaries' are wrong. 133062 What about the team that finished 2nd in 1996? Had a fair few Englishmen and Geordies in it. 133139 Yes. I was thinking of Robson's and Souness' reigns. There are always two extremes anyway - some of the teams that Gullit fielded were full of useless foreign players.
13. To be fair, you're right and it probably is a case of hindsight (HINDSIGHT!! OMG11!1). A lot of people had had enough of our 'buy young and English' policy - and Butt was a proven senior international at the time we bought him. Having said that, it still goes to show that Shepherd buys players over his manager's head, just like he did with Kluivert, Viana, Carr and probably many more. 133103 They were all Robsons buys 133105 They were definitely not Robson's buys. 133106 Read his book and all shall be revealed 133113 Robson had wanted to sign Seitaridis, Miguel or Trabelsi for a long time and in the end he had to settle for Carr - it was the same with Beattie and Kluivert IIRC. 133117 He stated in his book they were his purchases 133120 They were his purchases, but they were not the players he had wanted in the first place. Shepherd had vetoed a move for Seitaridis earlier in the year.

But then i'm biassed as i rarely if ever beileve stuff about the chairman buying players without the managers knowledge or consent because i don't think Bobby would put up with it for long, he is his own man and doesn't need it. 133109 Of course the manager has to agree to the transfer eventually, but it should never even come to that - all the chairman should do is say to the manager "look, you've got X amount of money to spend this summer", and nothing more. If I were Robson and Shepherd told me that he wouldn't pay £3m for Carrick, but that he'd give me permission to buy Butt for £2.5, I'd rather want Butt than end up with no-one. But again, it should never even come to that. The chairman's job is to provide the funds for the manager, he simply shouldn't have anything to say about which players he wants to see at the club.
