Ramage is rotten at left-back, but you can't really blame him for that, it's not his position - it's Babayaro who should get the blame. If he hadn't acted like an idiot on Wednesday, Ramage wouldn't have had to play in his place.

Goals? Shola deserves a lot of credit for the way he's getting on with his injury too. Based on his form since February, I'm optimistic he will look a very good player once he has overcome his injury problems.

I don't think we looked particularly good going forward. We had two or three spells where we did well, but we were badly missing a bit of creativity. Parker had a good game and so did Milner. The thing with Milner is that even when he plays very well, there is still no end product. N'Zogbia was very on and off - there were a few great runs from deep positions, but he didn't know when to make a pass. Martins was a bit unfortunate, but I guess at least he never seems to give up and works hard even when things aren't going well. Played 6, Won 2, Drawn 1, Lost 3 (4 after the trip to Old Trafford) is not good enough though and depressing form. My only consolation is that Spurs are doing even worse.

Roeder is right to fine him and he really must pull out all the stops to sign a couple of full-backs in January. Hopefully Bernard can do a job on the left until then.

I agree with the article, but I remember that there were a lot of people who agreed with Souness when he said that Bellamy was not good enough as a striker, which is ridiculous IMO. Shit person, yes - but a very, very good striker nevertheless. I still think the amount of people who fell for Souness' and the club's propaganda was embarrassing. Having said that, this debate has been going on for way too long already and surely it's time to move on now.

Well, that was poor. I actually thought we did well to still be in it after 75 minutes, and on another day we could have had a penalty. But several players just failed to perform - Duff being the main culprit. And while Babayaro may not have had anything resembling his worst game for us, I just don't rate him at all. Parker and Shola were the best of the bunch and I thought Martins did all right with the limited service he had. He looked dangerous everytime he got the ball. 2 wins, 3 losses is not good enough. We desperately need 3 points on Sunday.

Not sure I quite subscribe to that logic. Agree with the second bit but not the first. Seconded. But I think the difference between defending in Italy and England is that it is here far more physical. In Italy players can run with the ball and deep positioned and use their pace to get past them. In England players normally don't even get time to control the ball without being under pressure. That is why Martins looked horrible in his first to games. He more or less got man-marked by Mellberg and Knight who didn't even give him a iota of space to break free and as soon as he got the ball were pushing him around. Only if Martins is getting used to this and being able to shake off defenders he will be able to become a hit in the Premierleague. He managed to hold of that defender pretty well to set up Duff on Sunday. That was Mascherano though. Another lazy foreigner tbh.

I'll be watching it in the pub, but I'm expecting a very comfortable 2-0 win for Liverpool with Crouch and Bellamy scoring and us not getting anywhere near their goal all game. How great would it be to get a draw though or even beat them and get the three points? Suddenly we'd be looking very healthy again.
