1. We used to do this when players left, but there has been a lot of hard feelings eminating from SJP these days. Wullie is exempted from posting here. JJ had a lot of emotional issues as we say here in California. I wish him the best down in Cockneyland. My fav memory... 2003 Spurs away (January?) Tottenham 0 Newcastle United 1 Jenas '90
2. Regardless whether he comes now or not, Nobby will either leave Brummie land in January for less than 1m or leave on a in June when his contract expires. Nobby has planty of opportunity to return if he wants to and the managment of that time wants him.
3. Didn't think of that. You're right the second Moyes made that phone call Owen was as good as ours.
4. I should add that my opinion means nowt in that Freddie has already made up his mind and is giving him more time. A mistake in my opinion, but he has traditionally backed his managers.
5. I voted no. Souness will still not be able to give us the goods. Bells -> Owen Robert -> Luque Speed -> Parker Plus Boom for Woodgate (who was a better player but spent as much time on the treatment table as Carl Cort) and Emre to possibly replace JJ and Nobby to possibly replace Nobby. Theoretically if SBR had this squad at the start of the 03-04 season we would have been in the top two. Souness will get us no where near that. I would love to be wrong mind.
6. DUDE!~ I had no idea. May I have your autograph Mr. Tyson?
7. AF: You write a bunch of half truths, you have a stupid avatar and an even more stupid alias... not surprisingly I find it difficult to take you seriously.
8. Despite not being able to get us to actually win games or score goals Souness is defo winning the PR battle. He talks a good game and says the right things... now about coaching the team...
9. You have no choice. A promise was made. After the first half of the first book it really picks up. I would say book four is my fav. FYI - You can pick them up really cheap at Costco in Gateshead.
10. Thank you very much for bringing this up. I am sooooo going to hold Gemmil to this. Oh and Gemmil there will be a quiz afterwords. Think of this as a growing experience.
11. Spurs are not going to give us a striker right now... they are having their own problems in that department. Mido is even suspended. I can't think of any player we would want that they would be willing to part with. We are too similar in the weaknesses/strengths department.
12. The glory eveyone thougt was to come Keegan Era 22147 That was a decade ago, surely they've seen seen the light by now. 22209 Its true. Many on here were in there nappies when Keegan was appointed. We're all cursed. If we had a choice wouldn't we have all supported one of those evil red shirted teams by now?
13. Thanks Renton. I am not sure about this supposed support that Souness has. I live in California but I was in Newcastle visiting family until last week and watched the Arse game in Newcastle (Gosforth) and the WHam game at the Leazes End. Maybe it is just my family and friends, but everyone I spoke to - even random strangers in pubs - did NOT support Souness. I admit that some of them felt helpless to the point of apathy, but none supported him to the degree I occassionally read about on here and N-O... totally bizarre. Everyday I get into work and check the headlines to see if he is sacked yet. I see it as inevitable.
14. Wow, I am not sure what game I was watching but some of these marks are waaaaay off of what I would give. I must comment on the fullbacks: Both are terrible. Carr and Babayaro have been given instructions to get forward... well that's all fine and good but neither of them get back like their lives depend on it. As a mateer of fact I would say that both of them are loath to get back since they would inevitably garner some of the blame. That is not good enough. Carr cheats to gain an advantage over his opponents who always beat him to the ball and skin him if they run on. He is a red card waiting to happen. He is too slow and has poor control. He defo gets nowt more than a 3 for that performance. He and Baba look on Taylor and Boom like most goals are totally their fault - not entirely true. They enable the opposition to counter so quickly by not back tracking fast enough and cutting out crosses. Baba thinks he is fast and he isn't. He is really slow like Carr but tries to sprint his way out of trouble which only gives the ball away. He also does weak man marking rather than commit to a tackle. He gets a 3 as well.
15. I was very tempted to give you an Ugly Makems response here. I will just say that you are mad for suggesting such a thing and leave it at that.
16. Emre & Dyer are still injured no matter who we buy. I have no hope that Luque will be able to fit in immediately with our team. That said I think Souness will start him regardless to show all and sundry that he was serious when he said he needed more players. Given Carr Taylor Boom Baba Bowyer Parker Faye Luque Ameobi Shearer That starting XI does not look like it will be able to do anything against the Red Manc Scum in my opinion. Telling Parker to try to get up into attack more will only make matters worse as will telling Luque in his first game to try to pick out Shearer whenever possible (which Souness is certain to do). Sorry to rain on everyone's parade lyke.
17. I am going to run out and get one OWNED 4 LIFE Or I could just wait fof Freddie Shepherd to hand them out to supporters at our next match.
18. You'll only encourage him by responding to his posts.
19. Craig: One of your comments is false. Shepherd did not sack Gullit or Dalgleish. As a matter of fact SBR was the first and only manager sacked under him. Shepherd is a money grubbing prick and he talks shite - there is no reason to make things up about him.
20. Glad to hear it.. now about those other signings... Oh and hands up who thinks this will improve the team as a whole?
21. I think it is too easy to hang Shepherd for all of this. Ultimately Shepherd has in the past backed the managers 100% - even letting managers like Gullit and Dalgleish spend frivilously on utter shite. Also a good point has been mentioned earlier. If we got rid of the fat man who would be next in line? Yeah, that's right it suddenly does not look so bad does it? I voted Souness. Success is possible under Shepherd, but impossible under Souness.
22. I do not see it as wishing for anything but trying to look at the bright side of things. Some of these same people who are criticising everyone for being engative had a go at me and otehr who predicted one point from the first four games. Well that si exactly what we are going to get. We will get hammered on Sunday (maybe another 5 goal margin) now it is just an issue of what next? What can we do to stop it from happening again? We have as much chance of soundly beating the red manc scum as we do of Souness suddenly becoming good. I hope either or both of those things happen but I just can't see it. So I hope for a win, but know we are gonna get killed.
23. Given 5 - I felt he could have done better against Diouf's goal. Baba 5 - a huge improvement over his Wham performance when he was a 2. Taylor 6 - a red card waiting to happen, but he does put the effort in. Boooooom 6 - he was ocassionally out of position, but did well Carr 3 - not good enough. Blames everyone but himself. Has same first touch as Ameobi Bowyer 7 - put in the effort and looked like the only one on the pitch that might actually do something (no idea why he was subbed) Faye 5.5 - did what was asked broke things up a bit, seems unable to pass the ball though, kinda important for a professional footballer JJ 5 - has his worst game so far, he will get worse because his confidence is now in free fall. I fully expect a 3 or 2 performance out of him next week. Parker 6 - he can tackle and puts in effort. He is asked to be something he is not at that is be an attacking midfielder... only Souness would try to do that with this player. Shola 3 - He tries and he fails just as badly as Carr. He just can't do a job for us. His first touch, his vision and awareness all piss poor. Shearer 3 - I would bench him , but we seem to have misplaced Kluivert and Bellers... oh right, now I remember. Subs: Clark 5 - he tries really hard and considering he has been given little or no instruction he probably deservs a medal. Was he supposed to do what Faye was doing? Was he supposed to have some kind of attacking plan? Milner 4 - Also given no instruction and for whatever reason has declined and seemd a bit helpless. 1. Bowyer 2. Parker 3. Taylor That would be three triers who are always on the verge of getting sent off then. We're f*cked.
24. Liverpool have a direct interest in Owen staying exactly where he is right now. If he comes here the manager and board (Liverpool's) will be well criticised by the supporters and media. Liverpool want the following 1. Owen stays in Madrid ... or barring that ... 2. Owen returns to Liverpool but only for the same amount or less than what was paid by Madrid Liverpool will do whatever it can to make sure one of the two happens. To be fair to Fat Fred he is playing this game as best as he can. The major problems are that we don't seem to have the other players we need coming in and our team is currently crap.
