6. Newcastle misfit Albert Luque believes moving to England cost him the chance of playing in this summer's World Cup. And the Spaniard, while admitting he is happy to stay at United next season, has taken a swipe at Glenn Roeder by claiming he has had "problems" with the Newcastle boss. "I don't know 100 per cent where my future lies," said Luque, who made just six Premiership starts and scored one goal in his first season in the Premiership following a £9.5 million move from Deportivo La Coruna. "Things haven't gone as well as I wanted, but if I have to return to England, I'll happily do it. "I've had problems with injuries and with the coach. But I am going to start next season at full fitness." Luque's misery was compounded by his exclusion from Spain's squad for Germany 2006. And he added: "The national coach has always favoured others more than me, but perhaps if I had stayed at Deportivo I would still be in the squad."

8. Fucking HUMONGOUS yawn tbh. 142170 I thought, or rather hoped, he was taking the piss.
9. Aye, I would much rather have Nicky Butt and Amady Faye too..
10. ALAN SHEARER takes his first big step towards becoming a top manager this week - in a secluded part of Scotland. The former England skipper and Newcastle legend is taking his UEFA A licence at Largs on the Ayrshire coast in a major boost for the SFA. Shearer will go through his paces under the watchful eye of Newcastle coach Tommy Craig, one of the course supervisors, and a reason behind the Geordie's choice. The FA run a similar course at Lilleshall but Shearer has opted for the rated Scottish coaching school where bosses including Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho have graduated. An SFA insider said: "It's great to have someone of Alan's calibre. Largs has been the breeding ground for a generation of top Scottish managers and Jose Mourinho came here. "To have a top Englishman like Shearer is a coup."
11. So who else thought that said Catmags pussy??
12. I had read it on NO and another site but thought it was bullshit so didn't even bother posting it on here. I really couldn't see him going for 3 million tbh
13. Michael Chopra is poised to call time on his career at St James's Park after admitting that he is unlikely to sign a new contract with Newcastle. The 22-year-old has been offered a new 12-month deal for the second successive summer, but, with Glenn Roeder determined to land a high-profile striker to partner Michael Owen next season, Chopra knows his first-team opportunities will again be limited on Tyneside. Barnsley and Watford, both of whom have benefited from Chopra's loan services in recent times, have been linked with a player who will be a free agent when his present deal expires next month. Given his determination to find regular action, both clubs will be confident of securing his signature. "I have been offered a new deal by Newcastle but it's only for one year," said Chopra, who last night admitted that a move to Oakwell would be attractive should the Tykes overcome Swansea in tomorrow's League One play-off final. "I need to be playing first-team football and I think that I will find myself down the pecking order again. "I really enjoyed my time at Barnsley and coming back to Oakwell will always be an attractive option for me. But there are other teams interested so we will have to wait and see."
14. Wigan were supposed to have bids accepted for two decent players this week. One bing AJ and most assumed the other was Huth, I wonder if it was Milner?
15. WIGAN and Bolton are both ready to hijack Aston Villa’s bid to sign James Milner. Villa manager David O’Leary is desperate to land the Newcastle winger on a permanent basis after he impressed during a loan spell last season. But O’Leary will be stunned to learn he has competition for the 20-year-old’s signature from two Premiership rivals. And Toon boss Glenn Roeder could yet opt to hang on to the £3million-rated youngster for next season. Roeder is due for talks with chairman Freddy Shepherd this weekend to discuss the current squad and how much money he has available. If he is forced to do some wheeling and dealing, then Milner could be sacrificed. But, ideally, Roeder would like to give the former Leeds starlet a chance to impress. He said: “We know James did very well at Villa last season and we don’t have to rush into making a decision. “I will be sitting down with the chairman to discuss the squad — and that will include discussing James’ future.” Both Bolton and Wigan have money to spend this summer and could be ready to outbid Villa, whose funds are again limited. Newcastle midfielder Lee Bowyer is likely to be granted his wish of a return to London this summer. The ex-England international is wanted by West Ham. And the Geordies would be willing to let him go for around £1.5m. Bowyer, 29, played for the Hammers under Roeder and also impressed the new Toon boss when he took charge at St James’ Park in February. But a hamstring injury ended Bowyer’s season early and, as he is unlikely to sign another contract, the club are likely to let him go. Meanwhile, Villa are spending £700,000 to lay a new pitch. Boss O’Leary blamed the old surface for causing some of the injuries his players suffered last season. He said: “The old pitch was put down 10 years ago. “It was very hard and dry and there was a lot of pounding on the joints.”
16. So you think my "comment" was daft fair dos. Personally I do not think West Brom, Birmingham and Sunderland are decent sides as their respective league places showed. I also think we played against a depleted Chelsea side whose results since winning the league were that of a team not caring. I`ll give you Boro and maybe Spurs, however I do think we got Spurs on a good day as they were absolutely shocking against us and it was a right good win for us on the day against a team who were a shadow of the side they had been all season.
17. Though I do think we need him, we did pretty well without him at the end of the season, don't you think? 141225 We weren't exactly playing against great teams to be fair.
