Example? Cabaye is better and younger than Nolan Both BA and Cisse were cheaper and are better than Carroll Tiote is better than any cdm in recent history and cost relative peanuts. Colo cost a lot less than the previous lot spunked on Boumsong Some people love to get hung up on negatives, which I agree there have been plenty but this is the best side in ages I think quoting Birmingham as an example rather than Liverpool is as big a negative as its possible to be. -

Who knows? At the same time who could have predicted we would improve so much this time last year if we had got rid of Barton, Nolan and Enrique? I don't see the point in people worrying about players leaving, especially after some thought Tiote would go in January. so what happened to the DOF system you championed at Spurs under Ramos and Comolli, and the same system at Newcastle under Wise and Keegan - including your claim that Keegan was irrelevant so long as the club stuck to Wise and retained the DOF system ? This is about the 4th or 5th request now. -

unfortunately, your sour grapes response is not worthy of anything else. We are not attempting to challenge Liverpool anymore, this is why Enrique has also found it a more attractive club. I've explained the situation, accept it and grow up. -

he's just won a winners medal in a Wembley final, and who do you think is more likely to break into the top 4 between us and Liverpool ? End of story So that means Liverpool wouldn't sell him for £30m? What a moron keep to the subject, and answer the question. Carrolls career is going fine, it may stick in your throat, especially as we haven't seen the cash from the sale, but he has just won a cup winners medal and is playing for a club that will attempt to build on that success. Hardly a step backwards, but I suppose some will try and convince themselves that this is the case. Sour grapes. Grow up, and accept the situation. -

this thread is supposed to be about Andy Carroll There appears to be a number of people who can't accept that his career is so far doing just fine, because he went somewhere else for career reasons and/or was kicked out of the club and/or decided to go somewhere else for more money [would they turn down an offer of a higher paid job?]. -

So what was different between Enrique refusing to sign a new deal and Bernard doing the same? Although the irony of you complaining about a DOF while in a thread praising the transfer policy of a club that employs a DOF does tickle me. I was chuckling at the contradiction there too. didn't you also want rid of the old regime "for anybody" ? This makes me chuckle too. -

the success of the overall policy, is determined by league positions over time. Mike Ashley has a long, long way to go before you can even start to compare, but who is talking about the old regime here ? I'm talking about the lack of ambition of the current regime, something you won't accept, and you have also forgot about yourself proclaiming non-stop a few years ago how this DOF system would bring automatic success, before it was binned by Redknapp at the Spurs you held up as the perfect example under Ramos and Comolli, and also used it as some sort of proof that the NUFC regime headed by Wise was superior to that managed by Keegan, at the time. So what was different between Enrique refusing to sign a new deal and Bernard doing the same? Although the irony of you complaining about a DOF while in a thread praising the transfer policy of a club that employs a DOF does tickle me. my point is the same as I always said, which is that the system is nothing, its the people who matter. You said that a DOF system was guaranteed to bring success, and the club you harp on about all the time binned that system and is now doing much better, and they are doing better because they have started keeping their best players, backing their manager, and bringing quality players to the club and paying the price and competing. It's nothing to do with the "system", its because they are buying quality players and backing the manager who is making good judgements. I really don't know why I bother, how many years is it going to take for some people to grasp this. -

You can't sell all the players, or you won't have any players left to sell. he should prepare to get bitten on the arse after such a ludicrous post. -

Not sure about that. We're led to believe he'd gone upstairs on deadline day and said he'd like to stay if we'd pay him what Liverpool were offering. We said we wouldn't do that and if he didn't like it he'd have to put in a transfer request cos we wouldn't sell him otherwise. The transfer request came from the player, not the club. You honestly believe that the club had any intention of keeping him after Liverpool offered silly money? and they have a trophy, and will continue to build on it, so you can spout finance as much as you like, but in the footballing world, they have shown their intentions and that makes them a very attractive club to play for again, miles superior than the one who has just sold them 2 of their best players and show every indication of continuing that path. So who are the fools, and who is the more attractive club ? -

I don't think either us or Liverpool will get top 4 but they have spent over 100mil not doing it and they are still below us in the table. God you must be fucking praying we don't finish above them this season so you would prefer us to be like Birmingham than Liverpool ? -

I've always been fairly safe when I said that replacing the old board with better would be extremely difficult, despite the idiots on NO who disagreed so much with me. Not that it ought to have taken rocket science to see that, chum, but apparently it did. Sometimes the obvious just doesn't sink in with some people. You are not wrong there. indeed. We are still waiting for Mike Ashley to get anywhere near the hopeless fools who he bought the club from. -

oh. what is important is that on the odd occasion when they sell their best players ie local lads Gerrard and Carragher who wanted to leave, they back their manager completely to improve the team with all of the cash, in addition to the usual amount befitting an ambitious club that attempts to win things. And hey presto, they won a trophy on Sunday, and they won't sell their best players rather than build on it by continuing to back their manager. So Andy Carroll is doing just fine, as is Jose Enrique. -

as per the thread, Andy Carroll's career [despite the daft sniggering] at Liverpool, is going just fine. In fact he picked up a Wembley winners medal 2 days ago, along with Jose Enrique. The odds are also on them also consolidating their position, rather than selling them on at a profit and replacing with cheaper. Still, Liverpool buying our trophy players is an inferior transfer policy to ours, according to some. Some people will never learn.
