  1. Look up "Bikers for Trump" and Harley Davison to see the level of stupidity you're dealing with.
  2. We're fucked. He doesn't think there will be a no deal as the pressure is too much but even a quasi-eu membership combined with "great" deals with other countries will still mean reduced growth for a decade at least. He's extremely sceptical that good trade deals are possible.
  3. The fluctuation in tory support after chequers suggests to me that the 35-39 percent are determinedly driven by a non-soft brexit.
  4. I'm going to a Brexit briefing by our chief economist at 10 - I'll report back after but Renton should probably get his defibrillator ready.
  5. There's some shit where Melania channelled 26m for the "inauguration" via a friend's company to this Burnett bloke who's the producer of the apprentice and supposedly has the tapes. The amount of effort and money that goes into covering up his shite is phenomenal.
  6. Of course going around killing their enemies ex judice no matter how bad things they've done are is another thing they get away with far too easily.
  7. I've only read him speaking about the 1985 bombing victims. If not then fair enough.
  8. The most senior plo member in the cemetery and being honoured was supposedly the first one who talked about recognising Israel and moving away from all out violence. Him going there to honour the Munich killers is a downright lie. As I said at the start it's one of the naive/stupid things he did when he didn't matter.
  9. Fair point on the idealism. Possibly but a new party will guarantee it and I'm not convinced any of the Blairites would stop it either.
  10. I should add that plenty of so called respectable people have laid wreaths (which Corbyn didn't even do) on the graves of terrorists turned statesmen including Israeli PMs.
  11. The thing is Blair didn't undo any of Thatcher's crimes. He may have funded things well (though too much pfi) but overall he continued where major left off. I worry that a new generation centrist will do the same. Nothing ambitious, just pissing around the edges with a more human face. I hope for better and there's enough untapped wealth and sense of community in this country to at least try. Possibly.
  12. Well replying to Renton as well, Blair never went within a million miles of any of those and in fact continued privatising.
  13. Nationalisation, social housing, investment in research and manufacturing. A proper clampdown on tax avoidance and evasion.
  14. No different in hurting the poor than Thatcher, just as divided and weak as Cameron. The increase in the youth vote in 2017 wasn't due to tory cuntishness, it was due to a manifesto a bit different Centrist governments favour the elites and the rich, see the rest of Europe and the US pre-trump. Or indeed Blair.
  15. I agree and I've said I'd be happy to have a proper bruiser but I'm just worried there aren't any obvious ones who'd be as leftist. Maybe Thornberry but I'm not sure where she really stands.
  16. All of the Torry governments in my lifetime have either been cunts or divided. The whole brexit thing is because of divisions that have been there since heath yet they still always get their 30 to 40 percent. The only time that didn't happen was when the alternative was tory lite. That's just how Britain is. The generational trends suggest this may be changing but as I said, lose the moderately left wing manifesto and you'll lose the youth.
  17. What's a "proper opposition" then? They don't have the numbers to vote down any whipped vote and Im still not convinced going remain would make any difference. On polls you have to accept that about 40% of this country are either proper tories or brexit enough that they'll vote for them no matter what. A more competent leader might make a marginal difference but if they go Blairite they'll lose most of the motivated youth who've joined. We'd then be back to relying on the mood of centrists with nothing even vaguely left wing considered. By the way do you think Milliband or Kinnock were effective oppositions? If so how?
  18. Cynical but plausible tweet from Frankie Boyle suggesting the wreath thing is one of a pile they have which are being kept for the election which they've dipped into because Johnson is in trouble. Being a naive/principled former non-entity unfortunately means there's more shit like this to come.
  19. Karma for trying to use him to skive off work. Edit: I realised that read horribly - I meant it pisstakingly
  20. I've tried to put the coverage on three times now but keep having to switch off because of the shite Shola's coming out with.
  21. I remember people using coloured in the 70s quite nastily in general and the association with apartheid classification certainly makes it bad from a historical perspective - it's the rehabilitation by simply using "of" that confuses me.
  22. Still never seen an explanation of why "women of colour" is right on but "coloured women" is heinous beyond the "N" word.
  23. Anyone doing that in 2018 is what's fucking appalling.
  24. Unless a takeover is imminent (yeah, right), I can't help feeling we'd be better off in the medium term if Rafa left now and we had a shitshow zombie disaster of a season under Lambert or some cunt like that - at least bring things to a proper head instead of a death march.
