World Cup 2010 - England's World Cup TV schedule

ITV will show England's first two matches at the 2010 World Cup, with BBC showing the third group game, as well as the last-16 and quarter-final if Fabio Capello's men make it that far.

England's World Cup campaign kicks off against the USA on Saturday, June 12 at 7.30pm UK time, with the second match against Algeria taking place at the same time on Friday, June 18.

The British commercial broadcaster will also show the opening match of the tournament as hosts South Africa take on Mexico on Friday, June 11.

The BBC's half of the England deal begins with their clash with Slovenia at 3pm UK time on Wednesday, June 23.

If England reach the semi-finals then both broadcasters will show the match, and both will screen the final regardless.

BBC and ITV will stream the matches online as well as showing them on television.

It's great to have a World Cup on at a watchable hour. Pain in the arse getting up at 7.00am to watch group games for Japan/Korea.

Pain the arse watching games when you are working also! :icon_lol:

Slightly off topic, but....

Unsold seats returned to FIFA

Football associations across the globe have been returning unsold World Cup tickets for the first time in the modern history of the tournament, according to the Daily Mirror.

Some 650,000 of the 2.95 million available seats are still unsold for the tournament in South Africa, which kicks off in just over 11 weeks time.

And the newspaper reports that for the first time at a modern World Cup even the allocations sent to competing nations are being returned unsold to FIFA.

Of the 570,000 seats made available to the competing nations, an astonishing 330,000 - nearly 60 per cent - are being sent back to organisers.

Even in England, the best-supported nation, 1,000 of the FA's 29,000-ticket allocation is being returned due to lack of interest. The FA previously asked for a three-month extension to sell even those seats.

Worries over rapidly inflating flight and hotel costs, together with safety fears for visitors, are thought to have put fans off making the journey.

At the last World Cup in Germany in 2006, all seats were sold months in advance as 15m applications were made for 3.4m tickets.

this is what happens when you put the WC in a stupid place

venue chosen for political rather than sensible reasons.

Much like the world these days, a politically correct madhouse.

Folks lets not forget that the economy has changed a metric fuckton since 2006. All factors must be considered behind any decline in ticket sales, not just the geography.

At any length, unlike the rest of you soft-cocks I'll be there ;)

Tell you what, if England/USA runs into me seeing Blondie, I won't be happy.

An Al Queda dream.

Still , I expect the likes of toonie and the other left wing loonies will defend their "rights"

You can just see them in their huts, watching their "accomplishments" on video, with OOOOOOOOOOOOH MAKE ME MAGNIFICENT as the backing music.

Unless you have a total twat of a boss, I think most of the country will be allowed to watch that 3pm game, a lot of places will have tellies in for the day even.

I was at England v Tunisia, but that was a 3pm kick off France time, so 2 here, that was the last similar thing, cos at least Argentina was a lunch time kick off in 2002.

Anyway we're going to go far in this World Cup.

When was the last time a World Cup venue wasn't chosen for political reasons? Fifa makes Italian politics look clean.

Germany 2006, for footballing political reasons, everyone knew it was our fucking go. Lots of brown paper bags with Munchen postmarks on that's all I'll say.

Political footballing reasons aren't political reasons? ;)

Tbh, at the time I think most people thought it would go to South Africa but I think it was a good thing since I'm not convinced they are ready to host it now, never mind then. Our bid was fucking shite tbh. Tony Banks ffs. It was a much cleaner process than four years before in any case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_FIFA_Wor...ing_controversy

Also, USA getting it in '94 was a joke imo.

I think the World Cup should be rotated between England, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Italy and France. Everyone would be happy. I dread to think of another World Cup in Asia, or worse America again or even Australia.

The two WC's of my lifetime that haven't felt like WC's are USA 94 and 2002. Say no more.

We all rip the piss out of the "world series" of baseball never leaving the US.

Restricting the world cup to 6 countries would be almost as bad.
