Is this right? ;) Me and my mate would only pay £30 a night each?

Sorted the car as well, a Ford Mustang Convertible

Edit Also, the Grand Canyon Helicopter tour is around £180 if I buy it now, anyone done it know if you can get better deals if you chance your arm there and then?

I stayed at the Bellagio in July, unfortunately only for 2 nights. For no apparent reason they upgraded our room to a suite and so for $130 a night (80 pounds) we had an awesome suit with a huge sitting room with 42" plasma with full length windows with automatic blinds overlooking the Bellagio fountains, a table, powder room, then an equally large bedroom also with full length windows overlooking the fountains also with a 42" plasma with a massive luxurious king sized bed, then two separate bathrooms one with a spa-bath the other with a huge shower with a steam/sauna function both with TVs. Twice daily maid service including a turn down service if you're so inclined. Didn't want to leave the room!

Hmm, You reckon it'd be worth getting an average room in a better hotel then?

We're going to be there Tuesday & Wednesday nights.

The location I guess would be key. The strip itself doesn't seem that big but when you need to traverse from one end to the other it's massive and takes quite some time. We were walking for 15 minutes from our room before we were even leaving the Bellagio and going into the adjoining Caesar's Palace. We were almost late to seeing Jersey Boys as a result (they were doing the 1 minute call when we got there) having to walk all the way down the the Palazzo. We didn't even see the Fremont St Experience or do plenty of things worth doing, so maximising your time is key if you're only going to be there a short time. The Bellagio, Caesar's Palace and Paris are three of the most central located Casinos on the Strip.

We arrived in the evening one night and had the full next day and then left the next morning, so had bugger all time. The reason being that we didn't originally plan to go to Vegas but figured whey the hell not when it cost no extra for the flights. It was good to be able to have an ultra relaxing naughty.gif morning in a spacious ultra-comfortable suite... But it would have been good also to have spent more time seeing Vegas. As it was we had a late dinner the night we arrived, went out for a walk then a big lunch the next day and that evening saw two shows finishing at midnight. By the time we walked back to the hotel room I was tired (granted we were on a very whirl wind world trip).

So in closing few people would go to Vegas and see less of it than I did. ;)

Stayed in the Hard Rock before and that price isn't far off what we paid. The only thing is that it's a taxi journey to the strip but not a massive inconvenience.

Also the talent around that pool at the weekends has to be seen to be believed.

Rooms in Vegas are canny cheap during the week. I would stay closer to the heart of the strip tbh cos it is a pain in the arse if you aren't. Paris is a canny hotel which is well situated.

I imagine it's cheaper than the likes of Caesars and it'll definitely be cheaper than the Bellagio.

I stayed at Imperial Palace which was nowt flashy at all but right on the Strip and you could be at a number of really nice hotels in minutes. Barely spent any time in the IP but it was perfect as a base.

Never good at tipping to get stuff... I mean, I can slip the bouncer a tenner to get into a club ahead of the queue, but to get bumped up seems a bit less likely, you know?

How'd you manage it KD (You're not the most charming on here y'see  )?

Right, seems best that I have a look at stuff on the strip and try to get an upgrade on the day then?

Cheers for help by the way

Gemmill,(or anyone else) where are the best places to go in San Francisco?

I'm not going to pre-book, but it's just so that I know where to aim for when I get to SF

Alcatraz - pre book and get on the night tour cos it's better

Haight Ashbury is worth a look, and you can go to Golden Gate Park at the same time. If you're there when theres a match on, the Mad Dog in the Fog is an English owned pub that shows the matches. It's on Haight.

Polk Street is decent for a night out, and is one of the where the locals go type places. I would check out who is playing at the Fillmore while you're there and get tickets if theres anyone you fancy. It's a small venue where everyone has played down the years.

If the baseball season is on, go to a Giants game cos the ground is right down on the edge of the bay. Get tickets high up for better views.

Head across to Sam's Cafe at Sausalito if you're there on a Sunday. It's where everyone goes for brunch. The fanny is outrageous. Have a look round Sausalito too, it's pretty but very exclusive/expensive.

If you fancy a trip out of the city, Stinson Beach is worth a look, and gets you over the GG bridge with an actual destination to go to, rather than just as a sightseer on the bridge.

Other places will occur to me, and I'll stick them in here.

First off; Gemmill, thanks for the Haight Ashbury tip it was exactly my kind of San Francisco. We were only there for a couple of nights but I insisted on paying it a visit. Well worth it and definitely worth a second visit.

1st night in Vegas I discovered I'd forgotten my camera charger. Honestly I'm a fucking idiot. Still, had a wicked time and rather than writing a "blog" without photos I scribbled notes down which I'll fatten out when I get back from Australia.

Waiting at LAX now with a sunburnt head and an empty bank account

You, write 1,000 words where a picture would suffice? Surely not.
