Immigration wasn't damaging the country though, was it? Maybe it's about educating the country, maybe it's about disenfranchising the stupid. I prefer the latter.

For a lot of workers / communities it was. A reserve army of cheap labour.

Fighting talk

You had a couple of beers Rents?

No. Does that really sound like a pissed post to you? Genuinely interested. J69 has been playing the racist card for years now, I'm personally sick of it.

Maybe, but I know plenty of people who believe it has, and guess what, they're not racists. Labelling them as such doesn't engender a favourable reaction does it? Ask Gordon Brown.

Surely we can agree that many people who believe immigrants are the problem fundamentally believe that they are and that this doesn't necessarily stem from being racist, even though they're likely technically wrong about it?

Immigration has kept wages down, there's no argument about that. But it's also hard to argue that immigrants themselves are taking jobs away from British people, isn't it?

What the fuck? You really believe that? Incredible.

People that incorrectly believe that immigrants are one of the UK's main problems are racist. I don't see the problem?

Well that's what I think. You'll have to clarify with Ewerk and J69 their position.

They could be misinformed...? Couldn't they?

I'm half cut so I'm no longer certain about anything though.

Honestly? You're equating ignorance of the facts with racism? You're conflating concerns with immigration with racism? I haven't had a drink tonight, have you?

You will have to clarify what he racist card is?

I'm pretty sure the only time I've ever mentioned racism is when Stevie gives it the old 'All krauts/Jews/Muslims/Aussie's are .....'

You've obviously got a chip on your shoulder about immigration. That's your issue, not mine. My post was in response to CT, I didn't even address you.

I don't have a problem with immigration personally.... Although I guess I do think a net immigration of 300,000 a year isn't sustainable indefinitely. Huh, what do you know, I am a racist after all, according to some people's logic.

You haven't answered how I've been playing the racist card for years?

He's got a point. It's ironic that you're nearly in tears cos you've got a seagull stuck in you're chimney but get angry that we let people looking for a better life into the country

Racism is being prejudiced about someone due to the colour of their skin.

Being concerned about a continuos import of cheap labour and the knock on effect on wages / housing / schooling isn't.

There's plenty of foreign taxi drivers. Are they cheap labour? If imagine they get the same wages as you

You accuse people of being racists if they disagree with your narrow point of view. That's what I mean. Like if you criticise a religion, you're racist. If you are concerned about immigration, you're racist.

I've not given an opinion on refugees, at least on this thread, as it's irrelevant to our status in the EU. So what's your last sentence supposed to mean? Where is the irony?
