Doesn’t Jackson have history for this sort of petulance? I swear I recall similar from him in the past. He’s a very thick, very average striker. Typical of his entire club really.

The whole idea of not jumping is such bullshit as Botman was about to spring/jump to actually head the ball when he was elbowed in the face. Jackson, not knowing where the ball was, was never competing for it, so trying to twist it to the point where they're blaming Botman for not jumping well before the ball has even arrived is some next level victim blaming.

 

They've also been comparing it to Mings, who didn't even get a yellow. Apparently VAR thought it was worthy of a yellow but they can only act if it's potentially a red. He broke the poor Bournemouth player's jaw, but he was always looking at the ball and just aggressively shielding. Jackson's was a much more serious infringement but thankfully caused less damage.

I had a debate with someone in the pub last night about the Botman/Jackson incident and they're also adamant it's not a red and only connected because Botman failed to jump (WTF?!)

I think we're going to have to get used to this nonsense if we want to remain where we are in the league - we're bothering them in and around us ... and it's fucking tremendous.

I’ll say this though - i think the refereeing has been abysmal for both teams in our last few games. It’s like they have lost the ability to control a game.

 

They are trying to galaxy brain when to hand out yellow cards rather than hand them out for yellow card offences. 
 

Then you get stupid stuff like Chelsea thinking they can kick the fuck out of us unpunished & our lads getting annoyed & taking a pop back. 
 

It always has the opposite effect.

It’s such a stupid argument. Botman didn’t jump because he didn’t need to jump to head the ball. If he jumped, he’d have had to dip his head forward and down to head the ball and Jackson still would’ve elbowed him in the face.
 

As far as I’m concerned Jackson saw the ball long enough to judge the flight of it, peaked at Botman to size him up, then looked away and aimed his elbow where he expected Botman’s head to be based on his judgment of the flight of the ball.

 

Warnock and co. seem to think that Botman’s “natural” behaviour would’ve been to jump and wear the ball in the throat followed by getting elbowed in the sternum by that fuckin stupid cunt of a striker. WTF is right.
