  1. Past hour
  2. Aye, there's a draw to London for footballers that a lot of people don't seem to share, and therefore don't get. It's a factor we've always had to negotiate beyond, and we always will. I've heard a few mumblings that Pedro was considerably pissed off that, in his opinion, he was the backup plan should the deal for Isak not come off. If there's any truth to that then we cannot be surprised if we weren't a consideration for him this time around. Wages, as Alex said, were also a massive factor. The Elanga saga seems to have legs and both Romano & Ornstein are reporting it. More so, Forest fans seem resigned to losing him. I think this one will come off and I expect Trafford to sign next week as well.
  3. London is less than 250 miles south of Newcastle. how much difference do you think that makes in the grand scheme of things?
  4. I had a choice of jobs when leaving Newcastle. Inverness or Brighton. The weather was a big factor in my decision.
  5. it's not a myth at all. london is usually a good 5 degrees or so warmer than newcastle all year round. i've lived in both cities. i love newcastle and i still call it home despite not living there for almost 30 years. i was never arsed about the weather when i lived there but i'm always struck by how much cooler it is whenever i go home now.
  6. It’s not a myth at all. You’ll get better weather in the south.
  7. He was mocked for it because he was a massive fanny rat who loved it then used it as an excuse tbh
  8. Ahh the myth about the weather. You ever spent a November in Genoa (baltic), or an overnight in New York? Bollocks man it’s a few fucking degrees here and there
  9. Aye, they even have a cracking bridge there too.
  10. Massive wages we can’t offer in Pedro’s case
  11. jenas said newcastle was a goldfish bowl. we mocked him for it, but there's something in it. it's a one city club and it must be impossible to go out as a footballer and not be mobbed by fans. some players (bruno etc) buy into it and love it. for others, it's probably off-putting. in london, no one looks up from their phone - forget about people saying hello or making eye contact, so it's probably a lot easier for a well-known footballer to move around like a "normal" person.
  12. I’ve lived half my life in Newcastle and half in South East (about 60-90 mins train into London) if I was a 23 year old with no ties to either area I’d choose London. If I was 31 and settled and liked walking my dog - I may choose Newcastle.
  13. Well coming from Blyth (sorry Seaton Sluice) London must seem like Shambhala to you
  14. the big city is appealing to a lot of people. london gates a lot of hate, sometimes justifiably so, but you will never get bored there. newcastle is a beautiful city but it is small and the weather will put off a lot of players, whether we like to admit that or not.
  15. Aye it's fucking great, but you don't have to live there or play for one of the dull clubs to participate in the place ffs
  16. Orrrr, live in a swanky area of London, and not have to commute, fly or get a chauffeur driven limo (Who the fuck gets limos other than wanky 16yr olds at their Prom anyway?!). London is a global capital, and in the UK it is unrivalled for variety of food, shopping, culture ( I know, I know) and nightlife options for young twatty millionaires. It's also a major transport hub for Europe and the rest of the world. There's over 250 flights to Dubai every week from London, 63 to Paris a day.
  17. London is class if you’re rich. It’s also great for footballers who can just sink into the background and not get recognised everywhere they go.
  18. Heard some ITK info last night. Two maybe three big deals are expected to be completed early next week. The club are just waiting on Andrew beginning the site maintenance
  19. Madam Tussauds. PL footballers can’t fucking get enough of it.
  20. What the fuck is the draw of London? If you are wealthy beyond the dreams of most human beings just fucking commute to London for your social shenanigans ffs. You can fly there, go in a chauffeur driven limo, stay in the most expensive hotel you want rather than playing for some shite club with another 5 of you on the bench
  21. Aye, why can’t they produce a shirt that matches my exact expectation of how it should look? Had anyone mentioned recently about how entitled boomers are?
  22. I know. I just think they’d renege on that promise once they didn’t need PR. A bloke who cosied up to Trump isn’t interested in PR from the point of view of it being more democratic
