Aye. I’m hoping it’s just going to take him time to warm up but I am assuming a lot of the other kids are forming friendship groups now so hoping he won’t be left behind.

My little boy (4) started school in September. He is very shy and struggles to communicate with kids of the same age. He seems to be better with older children and adults (although occasionally will go into his shell with new people ). He often comes across as rude (eg will turn away when another kid tries to talk to him). He is okay when he gets to know people and never shuts up in the house. Perversely he just gets stuck into stuff (like football training) and isn't shy all in that respect. He has started saying he doesn't want to go to school as no-one will play with him, which is breaking my heart. When we try to encourage him to talk to other kids he just says he doesn't know what to say. When we try to introduce him to kids out of school he doesn't show much interest in them (although I secretly think he wants to or takes him an age to start building up rapport) Anyone experienced this or have any advice?

I vaguely remember him prefixing every possible word with cunt and claiming he never watched any American TV/movies. Then he found a nice girl and mellowed a little bit. I think he got ill after that that. Maybe something brain related?

I agree with what you’re saying but I’m looking from a bigger picture and this game doesn’t really matter. I’m not arguing certain players shouldn’t be given a chance over players not playing or playing at a county league level. He probably should just be judged on his results. He flies through qualifiers and has done well in the finals. Wasnt Bobby ripped apart with the nation calling for his head? (I think this could have peaked after a 1-1 draw in Malaysia ?)

Of course I’m being facetious. I didn’t even watch the game. I think I lost interest in the England team around the Steve McClaren era. However looking purely on paper, Southgate has done better than most England managers.(maybe the stats guys can back this up! 😀) I totally understand that he prioritises certain players but I’m not sure swapping Longstaff for Phillips and Ward Prowse for Henderson is going to win us a Euros or World Cup. Perhaps I’m being too logical as I’m not emotionally invested.
