  1. The club have been aware of this since last month I'd assume (when he pleaded guilty) and must've known that a custodial sentence was certain.
  2. Chelsea are still suing Mutu for that money as far as I know.
  3. How does every black joke start? With a look over your shoulder.
  4. The people who tell racist jokes in here, do you genuinely think they are racist people? I can only look at myself for that one. I don't like racist jokes because what makes them work is some underlying assumption that black/asian/foreign people collectively are stupid/greedy/have bad BO/whatever, I don't tell them because I don't like, believe or want to perpetuate that assumption. I'm not saying Brock is a racist, he probably doesn't believe such assumptions either. I just don't see why you would want to tell those jokes if you didn't. You say 'racist people'...of course I don't think they're BNP voters or wannabe KKK members or anything like that. That kind of racism is easy to see, easy to decry and indefensible, that kind of racism isn't so much of a problem any more. The real problem with casual racism is that it can be laughed off as just a joke, but as long as the jokes are still told, the assumptions are still told and still remain. Oh and I've already seen one reference to me on this matter in another thread on here today, I think it's quite sad that in 2008 someone who has a problem with racism, no matter how serious or how casual it may be is laughed off as oversensitive. Make fun of me all you want, I just think it's pathetic. That underlying assumption is generally the setting for the joke, quite often what makes them work is the taboo or the pushing of boundaries. I don't think the jokes in this thread are really perpetuating any stereotypes that people aren't already aware of and therefore aren't causing any harm to anyone. I can understand why you might take issue with some of them but as Alex said, the real issue is whether their is any malice intended behind the joke or comment and I really don't think that there is in this thread.

  6. If there's one thing guaranteed to annoy a Luke even more, it's calling them Lukey Boy. Btw, didn't Jonny ban that RICO for racism? But racism is okay if it's in this thread, is that how it works? I'm not suggesting anyone should be banned, of course. No I never. Don't worry, T-Keith will be along in a minute to grass up whoever it was.
  7. He's a Scouser, what did you expect?
  8. This is up there with the loss of Diatta in earth-shatteringly terrible news.

    Mort To Go?

I feel the complete opposite. I reckon the job requires an inside knowledge of how the football world works tbh. I had hoped that the initial rumours of David Dein coming on board were true - however, they proved not. I agree there. By his own admission he knows very little about the game and even less about being a club chairman. What knowledge of the game is actually required for a chairman? I think a knowledge of the industry would obviously be an advantage but it's not that much different from any other sporting club. One area in which a 'football' person would be a bonus is regarding contacts in the game, however, with Wise, Jiminez and the other fella on the board I don't think that that is as much of an issue with us.
  10. Aye but it's Ronaldo. His free kick against Pompey was good but to call it goal of the season was a bit much imo. Had it been anyone from the less fashionable clubs it wouldn't have got a mention. Oh, and I full expect him to remain anonymous tonight.
  11. Wind your neck in man, he looks to me as if he's come with good intentions. Not sure about this, his first thread was a definite attempt of wummery to get some reactions he then can use at some Spurs board. I am not too sure about this one either... Well it that is the case then certain members are giving him plenty to bring back to his own board by acting like cocks and turning their nose up at Spurs 'rejects'.
  12. Fuck me there seem to be a few people who are very sensitive when it comes to Spurs. T-Keith and LM, catch yourselves on.

    Mort To Go?

I was under the impression that Mort's appointment was only temporary anyway, The Daily Mail however, will of course use any opportunity to write a headline about 'Boardroom War' or 'Mort Storms Out!'. Fucking shitbags.
  14. Isn't that what Chelsea tried to do with Mutu? I don't think that has been decided either way yet but would be an important test case.
  15. Is it a laptop? If so then you've more than likely got the num lock on. Just press Fn + Num lock to get it off.
  16. I'm over that weekend anyway so the Valencia game is a bonus.
  17. 10 pints, 5 bottles and a McDonalds is hardly the ideal diet for a footballer either. As much as I've thought he was scum from well before we signed him I do hope that he can do his time, put this behind him (until his next case) and start to show a bit of form as he was doing towards the end of the season.
  18. gutted to be honest, not having a pre-season fucked him up last year =/ let's hope KK gives some one touch drills to the five-a-side team in there Fuck right off... Our player or not, he deserves to go down for what he did - just hope it actually changes his mentality off the football pitch. As for us not having the summer without him well the club had the chance to ditch him when he was arrested - surely bringing the club into disrepute but we chose to stand by him.... Makers of our own desitny tbh. Writing off a £6m player would have been madness though.
  19. That's not exactly how it works, you can't offer £13m for this guy simply because we offered £16m for Modric, obviously the club will value each player differently. No shit, sherlock. The point is that he appears to be who we've targeted after losing out on Modric, and seems to have similar quality, is even younger, etc. Therefore, what with the two being much of a muchness, and having already proven the money is there, it's not unreasonable to pay a similar amount. (now who's being patronising, btw? Hypocrite.) I'm not being patronising, it just seems that you didn't understand the obvious. I see what you're saying but you can't make offers on that basis, clearly the club will have their own valuation of him and given Galatasary's reported financial difficulties it would seem foolish to immediately meet their asking price (provided that there isn't another club also in for him).

  21. Plus he'll get a few days off for the time he has already spent in custody over the new year.
  22. Has the Dabo incident been sorted out yet or has he still got that hanging over him?
  23. Well if he is going down for at it then at least it's starting during the summer break.
  24. Hopefully we'll offer them Emre to bridge the gap between the two valuations.
