  1. I reckon if we brought in a manager who tried to use tactics to suit the players and began to play them in the correct position we'd see an immediate improvement. If you talk to a lot of Liverpool fans they'll say that Benitez is often tactically a disaster... But none of them call for his head - quite the opposite. How about we give the manager we've got in a bit more time to start to get it tactically right rather than bring in someone else who may also get it wrong (Souness, Roeder, Gullit and Dalglish were guilty of it and Robson was questioned from time to time....). Tbf if Allardyce had us in the CL every year I wouldn't be complaining too much either, personally I don't think Liverpool have had a fair return for the amount of backing that Benitez has got but that's their concern. If Fat Sam was using crazy tactics but had us winning convincingly then there would be no one complaining, however we have been struggling and scraping results so far which is the basis of most people's concerns, I know they've spent more money than us but City have went through all the same changes as us and haven't done too badly. It's not really been made public but I think we really were in a financial shit-pit when Ashley took over and to be fair to him, he's emptied a sizable chunk of his 'rainy day' fund to put us in a better position - in other words, he's building us for the long term. Citeh have had fantastic short-term success but if I was one of their fans I'd be scared shitless of Shinawatra being in control. The bloke has public self-confessed as both a Man Utd and Liverpool fan and now he has control of Citeh. He appears to be investing in short-term return and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if in a couple of years time, the cash-cow picks up his udders and trots off to find a new field to graze in. I'm talking more about the job Sven has done in getting the team to gel and play decent football rather than the abortion of a job Allardyce seems to have done since the league kicked off. Though if I was a City fan I'd be slightly more comfortable now following the recent Thai elections.
  2. Have you read this months edition of The Mag, Fish? Allardyce has said Milner isn't a right winger and his best position is down the left. God he's gone even further down in my estimation now. Milner can do an adequate job on the left imo but when we've got N'Zogbia and now Duff fit to play there and absolutely no one to play on the right wing you really have to wonder what the fuck Allardyce thinks he is doing, I just can't understand his thought process at all.

    Appeal For Maddy

I can think of another one this year, when the black child of a British man (from Murton, actually) was abducted in Nigeria. There was far more 'newsworthy' information available at the disposal of the media yet it barely got a mention. I also think that certain areas of the media and their fascination with paedophilia is another reason why this story refuses to go away. EDIT - http://www.sunderlandecho.com/breaking-new...ched.3010167.jp Story in question. Tbf that story had a fair bit of coverage and she was returned after only a few days.
  6. Good. I certainly agree. Don't understand people trying desperately to sqeeze into a national team they only have some distant relation to and no connection just so they can play int. footie. It's even arguable it increases profile that much because club football is where it's at now and if you can't get into your "first choice" country... you're not that great anyway. It's been providing the Republic of Ireland with a sizeable number of it's players over the years.
  7. What sort of style did he have Lyon playing?
  8. He has said he wouldn't rule it out.
  9. And the young fella from Le Harve, but apart from them.
  10. Yup, he's not done badly for a mercenary.
  11. Cheers, only heard good things about it so far. Hoping to get a decent deal on it in the New Year.
  12. That really all depends on the ambition and willingness of Ashley to spend money, I don't think anyone knows yet whether he's prepared to spend big if he gets his own man in. Would people be happy with Jol? BTW at the present time I would only advocate sacking Allardyce if there is a suitable replacement lined up, whilst I'm very unhappy with him I wouldn't say we're in a crisis and there's no need to push the panic button just yet.
  13. 6 points from playing Derby twice ? perhaps venture as far to look even slighlty better than the worst 2 teams in the league ? We are ninth. Arenal lost to Middlesborough. Spurs have lost to innumerable teams beneath their payscale this season Nobody is happy with this result, but christ on a boke changing manager won't fix a God Damn Thing. Didn't do the aforementioned Spurs any harm.
  14. If I was given the option of being 9th at this stage of the season I probably would have taken it and while they say the table doesn't lie it certainly doesn't tell the full story. We've dropped lots of silly points this season and where we have picked up points we've often looked less than convincing in our performance, this coupled with the basic fucking errors that Allardyce keeps making is frustrating and I can't help but think that when our luck runs out we'll stop 'papering over the cracks' and be exposed for the crock of badly organised shit that we are, perhaps then the Allardyce apologists will open their eyes and see him for what he really is. If we're still in the top half of the table at the start of February I'll eat my ball bag.

  16. Gonna take him a while to get up to full fitness and sharpness but looked ok when he came on. Could do with a haircut though.
  17. Please refrain from feeding the WUM. Thank you.
  18. I'd be very happy with 1-0 wins if we could look semi-comfortable/convincing in doing so instead of looking clueless and without a game plan.
  19. You're exactly the sort of person Mr.Bass was saying would be fooled by papering over the cracks. I'm not fooled at all. four games unbeaten is four games unbeaten. Aye, three of which were against teams in the bottom five, forgive me if I'm not overcome with elation. So are you not pleased we're four games unbeaten? As WUMs go you are one of the poorer ones.

  21. I don't think there's anyone saying he's flawless, he can be infuriating at times but at the moment he's the best we've got.
  22. You're exactly the sort of person Mr.Bass was saying would be fooled by papering over the cracks.
  23. What annoys me most is that Fat Sam is making the same basic mistakes time and time again yet keeps persisting with his shite selections and tactics because his head is so far up his own ass he can't believe that he could be wrong.
