Robson should've been firmer with him, by most accounts the players were allowed to get away with far too much. -

He lives in Holywood doesn't he? I'd stick a few quid in to see him walking round there with a green white and orange beard. -

I'd say we're not interested in at least 50% of the players we've been linked with, especially given that the leaks at SJP have stopped. But Allardyce isn't stupid and has spoken repeatedly about wanting to get players in and missing out on targets, I just fail to believe that we're missing out on all of them because we're an unattractive prospect. So how does that neccessarily mean there are no funds? It could just as easily mean we approach a club, agree a fee and the player decides against the move. The delegation the club sent to Barcelona doesn't suggest we aren't willing to spend. The delegation sent to Barca were there to sign Edmilson on a free / low fee as far as I'm aware. I don't think either of us really know what's going on at the minute so it's all really conjecture and speculation. -

Well we certainly don't appear to have a big one, I just think no significant funds will be released until the completion of this strategic review which makes absolutely no sense in the footballing world. -

His excuses for not being able to attract top players? Even at Bolton Allardyce never seemed to have a problem attracting decent names, even when we had no European football in 05/06 we were still able to attract Owen, Parker, Luque and Emre and seeing as West Ham and Man City have been able to sign a few decent players without European football this season I doubt attracting players is our problem, the only obvious reason I can think of is that we aren't able to offer the transfer fees that the selling clubs want. -

How about the fact that Allardyce has already alluded to the fact that we'll not be spending big money during this transfer window and the fact that most of the players we seem to have been linked to are fairly cheap options? It seems to me that we've lost out to other clubs because they've been more willing to meet the selling clubs valuations whereas we seem to be taking too long in being able to complete deals. All this talk of a strategic review also leads me to believe that the club wants to get our house in order before we embark on any substantial spending which will have a direct impact on the sort of player we will be looking to sign and therefore on the team performance. Allardyce has also said that Mort and Ashley aren't football men which suggests he is frustrated with the level of help he is getting during this transfer window. I'm worried that Mort is looking at the club purely as a business without realising that we can't afford to be sitting around on our hands while the clock is ticking down and our targets are joining other clubs. With the start of the season only a couple of weeks away what club is going to want to sell any of their decent players without the time to buy suitable replacements? It's getting to a similar situation as last year where we're obviously short of numbers and clubs know that we're desperate to get players in. -

You on about the fella we were looking for £1m from PSG? It's hardly huge money now. I knew you'd have posted that. Not like you to completely miss the point though. I have absolutely no idea what you are on about. Were you trying to be sarcastic with your post about attracting players and money? -

And there in lies the difference. A fully fit Dyer will be in the first team, the same can't be said for Smith IMO, I just think we're getting a lesser player for the same money. I don't think a fully fit Dyer would neccessarily make the first team actually. More like Milner - Barton - Butt - N'Zogbia imo. Dependent on form obviously I'd possibly have him in there in front of Milner and Butt (provided we're up against weaker opposition) and it remains to be seen how Barton will settle. It's not really his leaving that bothers me, I think things have just come to their natural conclusion, but the fact that we've worked so long to get him fit and are now looking at a fee of around £5.5m which seems to be equivalent to an Alan Smith or a Kieron Richardson. I'd let him go for £8m+ but anything else and I think we're undervaluing him in light of the money which has been spent by other clubs this summer. -

Why exactly? -
No quotes so it could all be bollocks but it is looking increasingly likely that Sam is going to have to sell to buy which is very worrying given we have such a thin squad as it is. The optimism I had for this season is starting to fade.

So we'd be paying the same money for Smith as we're getting for Dyer? No thanks, Dyer is a much better player and on the basis of last season he could've hopefully put his injury problems behind him. It's funny how these 'family problems' have only come to light at the end of July, surely he would've been better coming out with this before the wondow opened. -
Napoleon Dynamite - I really wanted to dislike this film due to the amount of wankers who go on as if it was the greatest film ever made and whilst it was a very gay film it was the good sort of gay so thumbs up from me.

Fuck off. Carroll bottled it, played the ball too far in front of him, and Buffon taught him an embarassing and worthwhile lesson. Aye, Carroll should've went in to batter Buffon in a meaningless pre-season friendly.
-
More keen on West Ham than us? That's strange, unless he's been told by Barca that he's not wanted since the time we were linked with him.
-
You can get a DAB car radio for around £150 I think.
-
Aye but it was only a friendly, I'm unsure as to whether he could cut it in there in league games.
-
He said he couldn't leave in a year's time, he never denied the existence of a clause that would allow him to leave at some stage.
-
The opinion of Liverpool fans on Riise seems to be that he's not good enough defensively to play LB and doesn't offer enough going forward to be considered a winger which leaves him really as a wing back which is something that Allardyce has made it clear he doesn't want.
-
Whether he can even fill in is debatable, he has certainly suffered from his attempted conversion to a midfielder but tbh never scored enough goals to be considered a decent striker, it's his attitude and work rate which fools a lot of people IMO. Given that we seemingly won't be spending big money this transfer window I'd be gutted if we spunked £6m on a very average player for a position we don't particularly need filling.
-
I'd think so, I can't see us making a move for him while he's injured. What's wrong with Babyaro at the minute? Is he injured or is Sam just showing him that there's no way he's going to be near the team next season?
-
Surprised? I'd be fucking gob smacked if he was the next face in the door.
