  2. Not sure if this was Llambias or the infamous "club insider": "Mike Ashley is definitely not interested in employing a Red Adair-type figure. He is 100 per cent confident in the ability of his managerial team to get the club out of trouble." “There have been no conversations with Terry Venables and there won’t be any with him or anyone else. That’s guaranteed. No chance."
  3. Hhmm Rangers, who'd have thunk it....

  6. No more a recruitment sergeant for the army than my Star Wars figures were a lure to join the Galactic Empire.
  7. I'm brut-Al ALAN SHEARER has laid down the law at Newcastle. The Tyneside legend was hailed yesterday as the man to save the club because he has the ‘cojones’. And new boss Shearer proved it by hitting his players with a series of strict rules. He: # BANNED all nights out on the Toon after games. # TOLD his squad they must stay behind after training and eat lunch together as a team. # CHALLENGED anyone to say if they do not like the new regime — and said they can go if they are unhappy. A Toon insider revealed to SunSport: “It is Alan Shearer’s way or no way. “He has come in and everyone quickly realised he would not take any nonsense. “Previously there was no real camaraderie among the players. They would shower after training and go home as soon as they were changed. Shearer arrives at Newcastle “But Shearer is trying to foster a team spirit quickly. The players are not angry about it. This sort of discipline is what they want. “It is clear if you cross Shearer you will be in trouble. But no one is about to do that. “If Newcastle stay up, missing out on a beer on a Saturday night will be a small price to pay. He knows where they go.” The Toon hero was unveiled as the Geordies’ fourth boss this term and has eight games to keep them up. New No 2 Iain Dowie said: “It’s a mark of Alan that he took the job. There’s a Mexican saying ‘he has shown big cojones’ to take charge.” Shearer insists he will run the show for the remaining eight Premier League games only. He said: “I don’t think it would be hard to walk away. That’s the plan.” Managing director Derek Llambias reckons Joe Kinnear will be back next season, as he continues to recover from a triple heart bypass. Llambias said: “It’s important he concentrates on making a full recovery before his return in the summer as our manager.”
  8. Just like Ardiles, Hoddle, Venebles, I'm sure they all returned to their sacred club purely for the love of it.
  9. I get the feeling Shearer wants the job beyond this season, but the clueless dullards want JFK back.
  10. I hope you are right, but i doubt the clowns in charge are either that intellegent or decent.

  12. You might as well have done one saying "NUSC, were not really needed anymore"
  13. Personally I am surprised Shearer has joined the club whilst Ashley is at the club, however I'm convinced at somepoint Shearer must have said "I'll not come to the club whilst Wise is here" and thus Wise has been given his marching orders, Shearer has said "8 games and 8 games only" but I'm convinced the Newcastle virus will works it's evil magic and Shearer will stay on regardless.
  14. Lewis Hamilton and McLaren have been stripped of their podium finish and all points at the Australian Grand Prix. The sport's world governing body said they were excluded "for providing evidence deliberately misleading to the stewards at the hearing on March 29." A post-race hearing promoted Hamilton from fourth to third after Trulli was penalised for passing the Englishman while the safety car was out. The Toyota of Trulli has been reinstated to third place. Hamilton was summoned by stewards on Thursday to discuss what the FIA, motorsport's governing body, described as "a new element" of evidence. It was not clear what the new evidence was, although it could involve pit-to-car radio conversations between the team and driver. The yellow safety flags came out at Melbourne after a collision between Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and Robert Kubica in his BMW Sauber. Trulli, who was demoted to 12th, slid off the track and was passed by Hamilton but the Toyota driver said he had little choice but to overtake the Briton again. "When the safety car came out towards the end of the race, Lewis Hamilton passed me but soon after he suddenly slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road," he said. "I thought he had a problem so I overtook him as there was nothing else I could do." Hamilton had told Speed TV after the race that Trulli went wide onto the grass at the second to last corner. "I was forced to go by. I slowed down as much as I could. I was told to let him back past, I don't know if that's the regulations, and if it isn't, then I should have really had third," said the Briton. Toyota had said after the race that they would make a protest but dropped that on Wednesday because they felt it had no chance of succeeding.
  15. Presumptuous bollocks, Shearer hasn't walked in the door yet, there is more of a chance Owen might stay with Shearer in charge but there isn't a chance anything has been agreed.
