Daily Mail Manchester City are ready to make Newcastle United a £10million offer they cannot refuse for unhappy goalkeeper Shay Given, pictured in training on Friday. Despite manager Joe Kinnear insisting Newcastle would keep Given until the end of his contract in 2011, owner Mike Ashley may not be able to turn down a bid for a player who has loyally served the club for more than 11 years. Given, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham and Arsenal, rocked Newcastle yesterday with a carefully prepared statement from his lawyer Michael Kennedy, in which he said he was 'despondent' following the humiliating 5-1 defeat to Liverpool, in which he excelled. The Republic of Ireland international is ready to end his long spell at St James' Park and City manager Mark Hughes is prepared to match Newcastle's inflated asking price and the 32-year-old's £70,000- a-week News of Given's unhappiness clearly caught his boss off guard on Friday and Kinnear claimed the keeper was happy to stay on Tyneside. 'I have not got any unhappy players here and no one has told me anything different,' he said. 'You are presuming the statement was sanctioned by Shay and I am quite happy with what Shay told me.

Ricky Hatton fight with Manny Pacquiao set for Las Vegas Ricky Hatton's super-fight with Manny Pacquiao, worth £40 million, will take place in Las Vegas on May 2, according to Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum. On the cards: Ricky Hatton's super-fight with Manny Pacquiao looks likely Photo: AP However, Hatton’s team are still attempting last-minute negotiations behind the scenes to bring the fight to the UK. Hatton still harbours hopes of fighting Pacquiao at Wembley in front of 90,000 fans. Ray Hatton, the British fighter’s father and manager, said: “From our viewpoint, the fight is all but done and will go ahead. We’re just still negotiating the terms of the location. We want to have the fight over here for the British fans and we’ve been trying to put together a package to show that we can financially equal, or better, what they can do over there.” However, Telegraph Sport understands that a UK-based fight has been ruled out by Home Box Office, the American cable giants, who are insisting the fight takes place in Nevada. Pacquiao, hugely popular in the Philippines and a national icon, and Hatton, Britain’s most popular fighter, will share the spoils of a super-fight expected to generate £40 million, including revenue from pay-per-view television. According to American promoter Arum, the only negotiation to be completed is whether the fight will be staged at the MGM Grand Garden Arena (capacity 15,000) or the Thomas & Mack Center, which can house a maximum of 19,000 spectators. Hatton Snr also revealed that ’the Hitman’ will immerse himself in a 12-week training camp – which could start early in February in the UK, and then move to Florida before settling in Las Vegas a few weeks before the fight – under Floyd Mayweather Snr, the American trainer. Mayweather was credited after Hatton’s victory over American Paulie Malignaggi in November as having instilled the basics back in the Mancunian’s fighting armoury, and returned him to his boxing skills and better footwork. Hatton has also ruled out retiring if his contest with Pacquiao, who dismantled Oscar De La Hoya last month, is successful. Hatton has told his father that “if he wins his next fight, he’ll be looking at another year.” The ultimate goal is a re-match with Floyd Mayweather Jnr, who defeated Hatton in December 2007, the only blemish on his 12-year career record which stands at 45-1.

Instead of that we should make it £1 for every £100,000. So if we make a £4.4 million profit then I'll pay up £44. Undisclosed fee's are tricky but we'll go off what the press speculate the fee to be. Basic fee only so add on's for appearances etc don't count. Yep, agreed. We need therefore to agree a particular publication or even an order to the way in which we trust them. Finally I think we need an independent adjudicator whos say is final in the event of any dispute. All of the papers will have a price, just go with the majority opinion. Jimbo can have the final say. Whatever my TV says goes tbh.

I really enjoyed it, it was good to see Rowan Atkinson involved as he rarely does things like that, as great as it was I thought Rik Mayall came across as a complete tit.

All it lacked was a "wide of the mark".

Whisper it quietly but he deserves better than what we can offer for a player of his ability at this stage of his career.

His fight against Andrei Arlovski should be good.

I think he was suffering from depression and drink problems and was sent out on loan back to Brazil, Sao Paolo I think, he then came back to Inter and has been ok from what I gather.

Adriano would be a massive gamble.
