  2. Excellent fight, Khan reminds me of Nigel Benn or Thomas Hearns, but for all the wrong reasons, he has a great punch but a chin that is rather suspect.
  3. Anyone watching this ? Fuck me what a fight !
  4. because ashleys a tightarse that isnt going to spend any money Aye he seemed really tight when he paid off the club debt.
  5. :icon_lol: Lets sign Ronaldo from under noses of Real Madrid while we are at it !!!!
  6. If I was losing a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, he's exactly the kind of player I'd be looking at.
  7. I don't think so, but I might be wrong. It seems its rumoured that he holds shares in JJB and JD Sports, but I think he's a long way short of owning either.
  8. I don't think so, but I might be wrong.
  9. Why interesting? All part of the same group these days aren't they? Shirts were made by Umbro last season and JJB the year before. Aren't all these companies under Mike Ashley's umbrella? It would seem that Champion is either owned or in partnership with JJB, I went into the JJB shop in Norwich today and it was wall to wall with Champion clothing and trainers, much the same as with Lonsdale in Sports World stores.
  10. Could be our best defensive midfielder since Viana......
  11. More than likely that ManUre will be in for Owen if/when Ronaldo is sold.
  12. Agreed, as much I despise the odious little shite, he's good for the league, and it will be a poorer place without him.
  13. Watching a downloaded copy of Arturo Gatti Vs Mickey Ward, my god what a fight, it made Rocky look far fetched.
  14. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7465076.stm Bringing Big 'Ead to the big screen By Mark Simpson BBC North of England correspondent He was known as "Old Big 'Ead", so Brian Clough would not have been surprised to know a film is being made about him. But fans of the late, great football manager might want to watch the film, The Damned United, from behind a sofa. Rather than focusing on his remarkable victories in two European Cup finals with Nottingham Forest, the movie concentrates on the low point of his career, his 44-day nightmare as Leeds United boss. With some fruity language and lots of finger-jabbing, Clough is portrayed as a flawed genius. Back in the 1970s, he himself struggled to find any faults with his own ability. He once said: "Rome wasn't built in a day... but I wasn't on that particular job". The actor given the near-impossible task of capturing Clough in looks and voice is Michael Sheen, better known for his role as Tony Blair in the film The Queen. "Each character is unique," says Sheen during a break from filming at Leeds United's Elland Road ground. "This is my two passions coming together. I used to play a lot of football when I was younger. I possibly could have had a career in it. "Then I got to about 14, met girls, you know, started drinking, smoking and all that kind of thing and then got into acting." The film, based on the book by David Peace, is costing £5m and is due to be released in cinemas next year. More than £20,000 of that money has already gone into turning the concrete car park at Elland Road into a grass pitch to try to recreate the 1970s training facilities. Filming has already taken place at Chesterfield's Saltergate ground, which was painted dark green and made to look like the old Baseball Ground, where Derby County played when Clough was their successful manager. It all turned sour for Cloughie when he arrived at Leeds in the summer of 1974. Appointed for his brilliance, he was undone by his arrogance and his abrasive approach to a team of thin-skinned superstars who had just won the league. The previous manager, Don Revie, was a winner, but the team did not have the panache Clough wanted. He tried to change the style and take on the stars, with disastrous consequences. The film's producer Andy Harries - the drama controller behind the hit TV series Cold Feet - describes the movie's portrayal of Clough as "affectionate and amusing". He says: "We're not going to sell it as a comedy, but it is a funny film because Clough was such a character. "But it is dark in parts. I don't think the film is anything like as dark as the book. "The book is told through Clough's own mind, the film doesn't do that at all. The film tells the story in a much more straight, narrative way." Even so, he admits that Clough sometimes appears to be approaching lunacy. "There are some pretty mad scenes, which are also very funny scenes," he says. Others actors involved include Jim Broadbent as Derby chairman Sam Longson, Timothy Spall as Clough's assistant Peter Taylor and Colm Meaney as Don Revie. Perhaps the biggest challenge facing the movie-makers is making it watchable for anyone under 40 who isn't a football fan and has never heard of Brian Clough. The quirky title - The Damned United - may attract wider interest. Mind you, there were not many alternatives. There has, of course, already been a Life of Brian.
  15. Couldn't cope with another rejection....
  16. Probably trying to save face after being rejected.
  17. I like it too, although it looks more blue to me.
  18. Twat # 1 Leicester set to confirm Pearson Nigel Pearson is expected to be named as the new manager of Leicester City at a news conference on Friday. The Foxes have been without a manager since Ian Holloway left by mutual consent at the end of last season. Pearson recently split with Southampton after they only avoided relegation from the Championship on the final day of the season, sending Leicester down. The former Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday captain, 44, is a former assistant manager of Newcastle. Twat # 2 Dutch side name McClaren as boss Former England manager Steve McClaren has agreed a two-year deal to manager Dutch side FC Twente. "I'm delighted to be back in club management and looking forward to meeting staff and players," McClaren told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Dutch league and the Champions League qualifiers." The chairman of FC Twente has previously admitted that some fans of the club are against the appointment. "Ninety per cent of fans think why him? But he is used to working with top players," said Joop Munsterman.

  20. Here we go again: Ameobi not on his way to City DAVID CUFFLEY, EVENING NEWS SPORT 19 June 2008 09:58 Striker Shola Ameobi is NOT poised for a dramatic move to Norwich City - despite reports today that a deal worth up to £3.5m has been agreed with Newcastle United. The former England Under-21 striker could instead be on his way to West Bromwich Albion. One national newspaper today claimed that Ameobi, 26, was keen to link up again with City manager Glenn Roeder, his former boss at St James' Park, and that a fee that could rise to £3.5m had been agreed between the two clubs. City chief executive Neil Doncaster declined to comment on the reports, saying: “I don't generally comment on transfer speculation.” However, it is understood from sources close to both clubs that there is no deal - and no new twist to the long-running transfer saga. Ameobi's agent, Steve Denos, told the Evening News last week that the player would relish a reunion with Roeder but insisted at the time there had been no approach from Carrow Road. Instead, Ameobi appeared to be on his way to Ipswich, who were reported to have agreed an initial £2m fee, rising to £3.5m. Manager Jim Magilton confirmed Town's interest, but said: “We have made an inquiry about Shola but not a bid. The lad has just got married and has been away on his honeymoon which we have not wanted to interrupt. “When he gets back I'm hoping to be able to speak to him personally. A lot of things so far have been done through intermediaries but until I can speak to the lad myself we can't move on.” However, it is now understood Town's interest has cooled and Ameobi's options may be running out. He had a spell on loan at Stoke at the end of last season but a proposed permanent deal fell through and sources in the north today claimed newly-promoted West Bromwich was the player's most likely destination. Roeder tried to sign Ameobi on loan last season and was singing his praises again at the end of the season, but he suggested he was a player who was likely to stay in the Premier League. “I think he's a fantastic player, certainly rated much more highly by me than lots of other people who tend to be like headless chickens running round the place who don't score,” said Roeder at the time. “He scores goals. Whether Shola Ameobi is prepared to drop into the Championship I don't know. I believe he is a Premiership player - I don't believe, I know he is. He would blitz the Championship. If I was Shola Ameobi I would only want to play in the Premiership.” Ameobi has been troubled by a hip injury, however, and has scored just five goals in the last two seasons.
