Breaking News: Leeds to start next season -15 Points

Leeds have received permission to play in League One this season after being granted their Football League share but must do so with a 15-point deduction. The club have appealed against the sanction imposed by the Football League and their case will be heard at a special meeting of all league clubs. Doubts had been raised over Leeds' future after the club failed to agree a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). The Football League accepted there were "exceptional circumstances". But in making their decision, it was stressed they could not allow Leeds to operate outside the strict rules concerning administration. The CVA would have allowed Leeds to pay off an acceptable amount of their debts to creditors. "The Football League Board agreed that, notwithstanding the manner in which this administration has been conducted, the club should be permitted to continue in the Football League," said a statement. "Consequently, the board has decided to make use of the 'exceptional circumstances' provision within the League's insolvency policy, for the first time, and agreed to transfer the club's share in The Football League to LeedsUnited 2007 Ltd. Accordingly, the club's share has now been transferred. "However, it is acknowledged the club did go into administration and has been unable to comply with the terms of the League's well-established insolvency policy. "As a result, the board determined this transfer of membership should be subject to Leeds United having a 15-point deduction applicable from the beginning of the 2007/08 season. "Leeds subsequently have lodged an appeal against this sanction, which will be heard at a special meeting of all League clubs, to be arranged in due course." Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney met with both KPMG and Bates, telling them to change the CVA, which governs how much creditors will get. -

Not until he signs it's not. Just jerking Mr, just jerking. I don't think the height thing was anything more than journalistic licence btw. Pretty sure there were no quotes attributable to Allardyce. That's Jimbos speciallity isn't it? Apparently. He never got his cock out once at the piss-up though. Poor show tbh. All I'll say is, clearly Ritchie hasn't checked all the pictures on him memory card yet.

Smith joins Newcastle as injury-hit Dyer heads to Hammers By Michael Walker Published: 03 August 2007 Alan Smith will be unveiled as a Newcastle United player today, the Manchester United striker-cum-midfielder arriving on Tyneside for £6m just as Kieron Dyer departs for West Ham for a similar fee. It is understood West Ham last night requested further documentation from Newcastle regarding Dyer's injury history, but it is not thought this is a sign the deal is in jeopardy. Dyer should be announced as a West Ham player today. However, Sam Allardyce's priority is defence and the Newcastle manager is likely to be equally enthused by the prospect of signing Brazilian centre-half Capaca from Lyon. Known as Claudio Capaca in Lyon's Champions League literature, the 31 year-old has been at the club since last weekend undergoing medical evaluation and is set to join on a free transfer. Another defender, Seville's Ivica Dragutinovic, continues to be linked in Spain with a move to St James' Park. Dragutinovic can either play left-sided centre-half or left-back. As such he would be valuable to Allardyce, who is facing an opening day trip to his former club Bolton tomorrow week without Celestine Babayaro. Michael Owen is another doubt for Bolton, so yesterday's developments were welcome news for Allardyce who has become frustrated by Newcastle's progress in the transfer market, especially on a day when Joey Barton was charged by Manchester police with assault following an alleged attack on his then Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo in May. "I am hoping that the Alan Smith deal will go through today," Allardyce said. "He has other clubs to consider and I am hoping we are top of his list." It is understood that Smith has informed Middlesbrough, one of those other clubs, that he is not going to Teesside. That will come as a blow to Boro, who have already seen Mark Viduka move to Newcastle, and manager Gareth Southgate is bracing himself for a sizeable offer from Portsmouth for Yakubu Aiyegbeni. Of Capaca, Allardyce added:"He is a top player and we will be delighted if we can pull this off. He has been captain of Lyon for the past five years and for every one of those five years they won the French title, so obviously he has a lot of Champions League experience. That's why we are hoping that everything goes OK with his medical and that we can agree a deal." Allardyce also received reassuring news from his new chairman Chris Mort yesterday. In dismissing a rumour about Kevin Keegan returning to St James' in a director of football capacity, Mort offered Allardyce his support again. Mort revealed that he has met Alan Shearer but only in Shearer's role as an ambassador for the club. "Yes, I have just met Alan Shearer and I have to say that he is doing a fabulous job as an ambassador. That's what we talked about, and we have several things lined up which we would like him to do so he can carry on his great work. "I am sure that while Alan may have ambitions to be manager of his club one day, he would probably say that he is not looking to do it at this moment in time. And there is certainly no truth in any reports that we are looking to bring him in as a manager." Barton, meanwhile, will appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court next Thursday.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dede Leonardo de Déus Santos (born 18 April 1978), nicknamed Dedê, is a Brazilian professional football player, who currently plays for German club Borussia Dortmund. He has played a single match for the Brazil national team. Dedé is the brother of footballer Lucas de Deus Santos. Born in the Brazilian industrial town of Belo Horizonte as the second of six brothers, Dedê was introduced to football at an early age, playing three-a-side matches with his brothers in his parents' apartment. "Our living room was the biggest room and also our playing field, with the doors to the kitchen and the bedroom as our goals. Well, you can imagine, we always broke things in the living room." On club level Dedê first played for the local club of Atlético Mineiro, both as a junior and senior. In 1998 he was awarded with the “Silver Boot” as the second best wing-back of the Brazilian league. That year he also signed for Borussia Dortmund, where the winger soon won the fans' hearts with his committed, spectacular performances. He not only became a regular starter for BVB, he was also one of the key players in the club's championship winning season of 2001-02. After a brief stint with the Olympic team, cut short by a knee injury, Dedê finally made his debut for the Seleção in Brazil's 4-1 win over Hungary in April 2004. The 28-year-old is now BVB's second longest serving member (after Lars Ricken) and has established himself as one of the most valuable players in the club. In the past he has also always been a great help by integrating his Brazilian compatriots into the team. He is very good on the ball, has strong tackling abilities and is difficult to knock off the ball. His close dribbling skills and technical abilities also enable him to play in a more central role. Dedê is a great passer of the ball and can also score goals.
