  1. You honestly believe that is our entire staff don't you Jon? Fat Sam, the only manager out there who knows his stuff. Well, apart from complete novices like Klinsman. Perhaps you can join in the game and list 28 staff positions that Sam will set up that we don't have? And at the same time explain how Terry Mac cured Kieron Dyer and repaired Micheal Owen. Oh, do piss off. Me? Right..... What do you expect when Jon's argument is so persuasive? If you are trying to bore the shit out of everyone on this board, you are doing a sterling job.
  2. My brother went through a vegie phase for about a year when he was younger, so my Mam would get all the vegie sausages and burgers in for them which claimed to taste just like meat. Did they shite. My mum and dad used to buy all that shit too, and would often say it tastes just like meat. It tastes just like meat to someones that's not eaten meat in 30 years !
  3. We need a strong manager, not a thug, Allardyce is the perfect choice in my opinion.
  4. My parents are Vegan, I recall them having Carob bars when I was a kid. "It tastes just like chocolate James" Like fuck it does !!!
  5. At the time, maybe so. Not at their peak though. Agreed.
  6. Is that why Freddy has been saying that the new manager's aim is to get the club back in the top six for the next few seasons? Changed his tune hasn't he? Would you sack Robson for finishing 5th to get Allardyce to keep you top six? Sam will probably denounce his statement about coming for trophies then I guess. Robson was sacked 3 years ago ffs, I think Souness' and Roeder's reigns have successfully lowered expectations. Not much difference in the squads though is there, our best player standard is still Dyer. Arguably, we even have a better goalscorer. You don't think there's much difference in the squads? Disagree there. Dyer wasn't our best player (or on a par with our best player) then and he isn't now either. I can only think of Robert that is better than anything we have now. Shearer and Bellamy spring to mind. Owen and Martins Shearer and Bellamy >>>> Owen and Martins Kluivert and Bellamy >>>> Shearer and Bellamy
  7. Sam Allardyce is expected to be named Glenn Roeder's successor this week, and Butt indicated that the players would welcome the arrival of the former Bolton boss. But Butt, 32, believes the new chief's first task must be to bring unity to an unsettled dressing room. "We haven't been told anything yet, but we have heard the speculation about Sam, and everyone seems confident it is going to be him," said Butt. "Hopefully, he will be brought into the club and sort a few things out. "The majority of the players in the changing room work hard and are good professionals. "But there are a few who, generally, don't want to play for the club. The sooner that is sorted out, the better. "I am not one to criticise my team-mates, but there are genuinely one or two players who don't want to be here. There are some players who have bad spells, but they give 100% in every game. "But when there are other people who have the ability to do well, yet don't always want to do well, that is wrong." There were more rumours of unrest at Newcastle during the build-up to their 1-1 draw at Watford on Sunday. Winger Charles N'Zogbia was understood to have left the ground after learning he would only be among the substitutes for the final game of the season at Vicarage Road. Forward Obafemi Martins, meanwhile, declared himself unfit to play the day before the game with a knee injury. While Butt stopped short of admitting that Allardyce would be appointed, the former Manchester United player spoke warmly about the 52-year-old, indicating he would be a popular choice with the Magpies squad. Butt continued: "He is definitely a no-nonsense man. He comes across as being an honest manager, and that is all you can ask for as a player. "I know everyone has the highest respect for him as a coach, with all the new things he has brought into the game. "He was at Bolton for eight years and got them high up the table - maybe higher than they should have been. "Only time will tell if he does come, but, if he does, then all well and good. "When a new manager comes in, you have to start from scratch, and every player is in the same boat. "Hopefully, he will come in and sort one or two out."
  8. The word "Fracas" has always made me chuckle for some reason.
  9. Fortunately I'm off work (again) tomorrow so crappy digital photographic confirmation of the appointment will be provided.
  10. It might be a great league to watch, and I'll compare it to watching amateur boxing, usually the best bout of the night is the two nine yearolds that that spend 3 rounds "windmilling" at eachother, little skill, but much more fun to watch.
  11. Rumours that Nokia face similar action following the production of the Nokia Jermain and the Nokia Sol have so far proved to be unfounded.
  12. and has had a shit attitude.
  13. Got to be dead cert for the job following his resignation comments :"The intensity of football at the highest level, although completely addictive, is also draining. "I feel I would be kidding the chairman, my players and the supporters if I was to carry on without being able to put in the energy and dedication I know is required to be successful at this level."
  14. Shepherd remained in talks with Sam Allardyce and his representatives on Monday as he attempted to push through the deal they discussed at a meeting on Friday. Allardyce was at Old Trafford on Monday for the launch of the PFA Centenary Cricket XI v Football XI Twenty20 game, and told Sky Sports: "Obviously there is an interest in Newcastle, where we have had a discussion, and we will see where it goes from there. "Of course it has popped up a bit quicker than I thought and whatever happens in the next few days will be vital in terms of what announcement will be made." Shepherd is hopeful of being able to unveil the former Bolton boss later this week - perhaps on Wednesday - and he knows speed is of the essence for more than one reason. Stuart Pearce's apparently precarious position at Manchester City, who have also been repeatedly linked with Allardyce as takeover talk continues, has increased the urgency on Tyneside. Paul Jewell's resignation a day after preserving Wigan's Premiership status has thrown a further element into the equation with Eastlands tipped as his destination, but Newcastle's need is growing by the day. The bald facts of Dunday's trip to relegated Watford are that the Magpies returned with a 1-1 draw with left them in 13th place in the table with 43 points, their worst ever Premiership return. But as so often with the men from St James' Park, that told only a fraction of the story. Neither £10million striker Obafemi Martins nor talented French midfielder Charles N'Zogbia were included in the 16 at Vicarage Road. It emerged later that N'Zogbia had been withdrawn after reacting angrily to being named among the substitutes, and that leading scorer Martins, who had declared himself unfit on the morning of the game, did not go to the stadium and has not been since. The French midfielder, who insiders at St James' Park believe has had his head turned by speculation linking him with Arsenal, did travel back to Tyneside with the rest of the party and is expected to be disciplined this week. However, his behaviour and that of Martins, who scored 17 goals in his first season in England, is symptomatic of the malaise within the squad which has drawn a scathing response from some of the senior players. Keeper Shay Given, who is approaching 10 years as a Newcastle player, pulled no punches as he assessed a disastrous season. He said: "It has been disappointing and there's no papering over the cracks. We have not all performed and been at the top of our game this year. "A lot of players have got to look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves could they have done better this season? I think the answer will be 'yes' from a few of them. "At the moment, we are all frustrated, both personally and as a team. We are 13th and with no silverware again." Whoever is installed as Roeder's successor faces the task of identifying not only which players, but also which characters, he wants in his squad and ridding the club of the dissenters. His mission will be complicated by the need to generate his own transfer funds with Shepherd unlikely to be able to provide anywhere near the level of funding being suggested in some quarters after handing Graeme Souness and Roeder £65million in the last two and a half years. Whether or not that means cashing in on £17million striker Michael Owen, whose future remains the topic of intense speculation, remains to be seen, although the striker's main concern at the moment will be the concussion he sustained in a collision with team-mate Matty Pattison on Sunday.
