Really good film. 9/10 Very unique and well thought through. Really enjoyed it too. It was almost disappointing when the action really got started, because up to then it had all been so perfectly real, then I was reminded of Red Matter with some of the more inexplicable stretches to move the story on ("I'm making a bomb!"?), but it was short lived and the later action was superb, really lived up to time dedicated to introducing the characters. Amazing effects too. Perfectly integrated CGI across the board. I've got a choice between this and Inglourious basterds on Friday. District 9 is receiving all the rave reviews but tbh the whole idea of it seems shite to me, alien refugees, wtf? Whereas the Tarantino film is receiving mixed reviews, but I've liked nearly everything else he's done. Which do you recommend? D9. You'll love it as you have a modicum of intelligence about you. Owing to the reviews I have to see D9 really. Not that your opinion on this will not be without a bit of bias. I've seen both and I would genuinely recommend both, District 9 is the better of the two but only just, Inglorious Basterds is probably nothing like what you'd expect, I assume many of those that have given it negative reviews were expecting the usual Tarantino bloodbath, it isn't, its much more than that, plus they probably couldn't handle the subtitles for the extensive French and German dialogue throughout, two great films, both worth seeing on the big screen in my usually shite opinion.

I'll do my very best. This could be funny... The Fish expecting the usual kind of place he goes to, wearing his blazer of course, with his friends Farquar, Sebastian and Walter, he could get a surprise letting the man who diets on baked beans on pitta bread choose the venue for some scran... Hey, I can slum it in a Brewers Fayre if needs be! Brewers Fayre ? This is Ipswich, not Knightsbridge !

Sir Bobby memorial to be shown at St James's Park Sep 7 2009 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle NEWCASTLE United have announced they will be hosting a live screening of Sir Bobby Robson’s memorial service from Durham Cathedral. The move comes after it emerged last week that the service is to be beamed live to Ipswich, where Sir Bobby forged his managerial career. Sir Bobby made his name as manager of Ipswich Town in the 1970s before moving on to manage England, several European clubs and Newcastle United. He died in July at the age of 76 after losing a battle with cancer. But fans had complained that nothing was going to be done to show the service, which is by invitation only, to the public in the North East. Now Newcastle United have stepped in to help after annoucing The North (Sir John Hall) Stand will be opened for the event on September 21. The stadium will open at 12.30pm with free admission via Turnstiles 17 - 32. People needing disabled access should use Emergency Exit N16. A club spokesman said: "As seating arrangements are on an unreserved basis please ensure attendance in good time for the commencement of the service which is 2pm."

GAZZA flew back from holiday to make up for missing a blind baby's charity do - after reading of her dad's disappointment in The Sun. The alcoholic soccer legend walked into the pub where 200 fans had missed seeing him speak and handed over a card with £500 cash. Then he gave assistant pub boss Michael Dodds a second card - with a note in braille for blind daughter Faith, seven months. And Gazza, 42, went on to play an impromptu pool tournament in the boozer which raised another £250 - while he drank DIET COKE. Only the night before the star had failed to turn up at the Clock Tavern in Hebburn, South Tyneside. Fans were told he was in Marbella, Spain. Michael, 22, said: "I couldn't believe it when Gazza's blacked-out car pulled up. He asked where he could find Michael. "I said it was me - and he thrust two cards into my hands. He said he'd read of my disappointment in The Sun and wanted to make up. I'd vowed to give him an earful but he gave ME one - saying he hadn't realised the gig was for Faith. "He said, 'When she grows up and learns to read Braille, I hope you'll give her this card so she can read the message'." Gazza added he would give his next £1,000 speaking fee to Faith. Michael said: "It was an absolutely amazing gesture."

Doing sport on Radio 1? That twunt is nearly as big a criminal as his Catcher in the rye obsessed namesake.

I said that as I left the cinema. Brilliantly acted. He got the best actor award at Cannes, not surprised in the slightest, brilliantly menacing, without being obviously sinister, I thought the opening chapter with him and diary farmer was mesmerisingly powerful.

Agreed about the Basterds, not nearly as much bloodthirsty Nazi slaughtering as I expected, but I was very pleasantly surprised with what I saw, especially Hans Landa, what a character !

Newcastle flop Xisco has admitted he stopped playing to end his Tyneside nightmare and engineer a loan move back to Spain. The £5.7million striker has signed a season-long deal with Racing Santander after making just three league starts for Newcastle. But his confession will enrage the Toon Army. Table-topping Newcastle had just one fit striker – teenage rookie Nile Ranger – for their 1-0 win over Leicester after Xisco said he had a groin injury. But after signing for Santander last Monday Xisco, 23, was able to do full training on Wednesday. Xisco said: “After a difficult first year in Newcastle, this year seemed it was going to be more of the same and a good time to leave. I even stopped playing in the last few days to force my exit.” Xisco’s comments almost certainly ensure his career at St James’ Park is over. He added: “If they hadn’t accepted the loan at Santander, I would have regarded my situation at Newcastle as hopeless.” Newcastle have added out-of-favour Sunderland’s Northern Ireland striker David Healy to their list of possible loan targets.
