Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi is set to discuss his future with the Serie A giants this week, with reports saying that he may look to leave Italy for a move either to Spain, or to the English Premiership, with Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur all said to be interested. "Interest is real because Villarreal have already made enquiries for Materazzi in April," the player's agent Claudio Vigorelli told Corriere dello Sport. "But before this, we must have talks with Inter." 32-year-old Materazzi became the first Italian to play Everton, when who joined the Toffees for £2.8m from Perugia in the 1998/99 season, but he failed to settle in England. He lasted just one season in the Premiership before returning to Italy with his former club for £3m. He moved to Inter Milan in 2001 and became an integral part of the Azzurri squad for the World Cup Finals in Japan/Korea 2002 under Trappatoni, and has also been called up for the Italy squad for the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany by Marcello Lippi.

Maybe Billy Connolly's suggestion of having the theme from the Archers as the National anthem would be the best option, it would certainly make the parade at the Olympics opening ceremony more interesting !

As its been well documented in the past, I'm a big fan of vigilante behaviour. Good on him, there are plenty of teenage twats that could benifit from a good chinning.

If someone proposed we get rid of Lee Bowyer and gain Joey Barton I'd be delighted !

Looks like we won't be appointing him: Magilton tipped for Ipswich job Jim Magilton has been tipped to be unveiled as the new manager of Ipswich on Monday. Newspaper reports suggest that the 37-year-old will replace Joe Royle, who parted company with the club on 11 May. Ex-Ipswich captain Magilton made what had looked to be an emotional farewell to the fans in the final home game of the 2005-06 campaign against Derby. He now looks set to stay, with academy chief Brian Klug becoming director of football or first-team coach.

It's because people like the BNP use St Georges Cross and people have come to associate it with them and racism. Which I think is a shame as it is admitting defeat, and basically surrendering the flag to them. The most annoying part of this story is the bit in bold - these suggestions are always made by middle class white people, who think on the minorities' behalf. Which is patronising, and arguably (and indeed ironically) racist. 144634 Agreed, in cases of political correctness such as this, how many times has a complaint ever been made by the "minority" ? Very rarely I would argue. 144636 I hate to be pedantic, and I've mentioned this before, but this is not a case of political correctness. Political correctness is actually a good thing, it means for example that it's illegal not to employ black people because of the colour of their skin. Flying your own nation's flag is politically correct, it's idiotic rulings like this that make people believe political correctness is a bad thing. 144640 There are examples both good and bad for Political correctness, whilst it is shown in a bad light in most examples there are elements and examples where it is clear common sense, however, as it was mentioned before, especially when it is implemented with a veiw to discourage people from displaying national identities for the sake of suposidly offending ethnic minorities, its a case of clear stupidity and an insult to those who's heritage is in that nation.

Bowyer clearly wants to return to Laaaarndon, so he'll probably take a pay cut in order to make the move, he's obviously on a fair wack as he was a free agent when we signed him.
