I never understood people like you. Me neither and I was one of them! My old man was a building society manager so it was drummed into me - 'save, don't borrow. Only spend what you have.' As a result, Student Loans were a massive no-no to him as he didn't like the idea of me being in debt. So while mates had quite a bit to one side, I was having to work my arse off to fund what I could. In the long it's anything but worth it - I came out of uni massively into my overdraft and then had to fund rent and living expenses almost straight away. Traditional loans were the only way at that point. So there was me, in debt with my loan paying a standard APR and my mates coming out of uni break-even and with no need to pay a single penny until they hit a certain threashold. Student loans all the way!
