  1. Crikey, I almost missed this. I've just been down to the bookies and put every cent I own on it happening, if we beat Spurs.
  2. Is that the best they can do ??? Dalglish to return ?? What a heap of bollocks. In our current predicament, I expect far better bullshit than that.
  3. This coming from someone who wanted Ashley to sell the club cheap as "Every pound saved on buying the club is an extra pound for transfers" Add to that you telling people Jonas and Coloccini are no better than Milner and Faye, yet kicking off saying they can't say how good they are yet when people disagree with you, the hypocrisy must have gone right over your head. No wonder you prefer talking football on here. I dont see whats hypocritical about that statement? NJS is making a statement about the man himself, he, you, me and my cat know that if Ashley hadnt had to spend 60million more than he did we wouldnt be sitting here now remarking on how well that 60m had been spent. We would be in exactly the same position. Someone else buying the club however may not have such a single minded view. £500m to invest.....if they get the club for £240m then thats £260m to invest elsewhere in the club, if its £480m then thats only £20m left over. How anyone can argue for Ashley after hes put such a ridiculous valuation on the club amazes me. Interested to know what you mean by that last sentence like? It's fairly obvious why he said it. What a fantastic dig at us eh ??? Yawn.
  4. Who Do You Think You Are. Quite excellent at times. That Ainsley Harriot was on the other day. He went to Jamaica only to discover that his ancestor was a white slave owner It's akin to Stevie going back to find his ancestors were Turkish Muslims who settled in sunlun
  5. I guess it's only me, but I find this a bit of a non-story tbh. Nothing to get all excited about. Yes, it was a lass - but who knows what have happened for Carroll to barge her out the way (or whatever he did to the poor wee lamb).
  6. I'm developing a bit of a thing for Jeffy. Soooo, you're into the older man eh??
  7. I think you know where the door is, snakeshine. :icon_lol: Pardon me boy, is that the Chattenooga choo choo. Track 29, boy will you give me a snakeshine Fuckin' Snakeshine !!!! :icon_lol:
  8. My ITK told me that there had been a bit of a conflag at the club due to some unattended candles. Yes, it was a bit of a faye sale. God, that was bad
  9. I wish someone had told me this. I never had any details about that. Had I known, I would have gone. This is something that didn't rest easy with me. The main pratagonists seem to have moved swiftly on and left interested others on the sidelines. I would have thought another general meeting would have been preferable. I'm not going to condemn anyone, though, as I'm sure the honest belief was that the whole show had to be kept moving at pace rather than let moss grow to the underbelly of it.
  10. It is, one of the 1st things decided last night was who would face the press. They're no stunners like but they can speak properly. Pud, was last night's meeting advertised? How many attended?
  11. Credit to Caulkin for shitting on the Syed article in that way; rather clever of him to do it in such a back-handed way so as not to upset too many of his employers, yet leave them in no doubt about how he viewwd the shit published under such an esteemed title as 'The Times'.
  12. The statements make it even harder for NUFC to get a new manager, though. A wannabe new manager will feel he must get the guarantee of overall control, or he will be considered weak by Weng/Furg, and any negotiations will centre around this. Just how will Ashley deal with it ? How can he relinquish complete control, after all that has gone on ????
  13. That is important. However, giving the true feelings of the membership (when having a mic shoved in one's face by the media at any moment of 'happenings' at the club) could be quite difficult. Someone with a bit of savvy, coupled with the ability to be non-commital at specific moments is highly desirable. I registered. I'm expecting 'goody bags' when joining up though. Is that too much ??? I can do a shit in a bag, set it on fire and leave it on your doorstep if you want? As long as it comes with a window sticker, I don't mind

  15. The problem with it is getting back from it. Would NUFC cease to exist? Probably not. Would it be anything like it was in the mid-90's or under Robson (or even now)? Possibly not. But it will exist. It will, probably, always be the place to watch the highest level of football north of sunlun. At the end of the day, the watching of the highest level of football is all it boils down to. All this razzamataz of trophies, european football etc is all just hundreds and thousands put on top of a basic ice cream.
  16. The thing about Leeds United and 'doing a Leeds' is that, despite all the mis-management and relegations, Leeds United still exists. The fears some folk have about our club seem to result in the complete disappearance of NUFC ffs !!! This current turmoil is just another chapter in our history. The club will always survive. Some supporters will drift away, some will 'get the bug'. Ho hum, onward and, er, upward??
  17. I remember having discussions about the cost of football with a 50-odd year old passionate Man U supporter, about, ooh, must be 15 years ago. He was adamant that he would not go to see another game, despite following MUFC all over the place for years. If only we could have foresaw this current state of affairs!!!!!
  18. Bannatyne: "Why do you think I should invest in your company?" Ashley: "I can down a pint in only 15 seconds." Bannatyne: "I'm in!" 'But I am only prepared to offer £350million.' Theo Fahitas "i'll offer £180 mill and Peter will offer the same for 100% stake" FMA "why should i pick you over Duncan" Theo and PJ "we are cockneys" FMA " DONE " Had to log on just to post these  Ta ra. As Cilla would say
  19. Whatyoutalkinaboutwillis ???
  20. Maybe we should just ask for his betting advise to be banned?? Then again, leave it and bet the other way??
  21. I must have missed most of it. A few unintentional racist comments here and there but on the whole things are okay. Not too sure about this 'c' word business. It's a common word that doesn't get used much, but we seem to have a bit of a hang up about it. I'd be interested if people on here are genuinely bothered about it's use (provided it doesn't appear in every post)?? We all know Cath finds it exceedingly irritating, but do people really have an issue with it, or just how often it's used? Maybe I have just been missing how often it has been used recently?? (apart from that recent thread from the wum which needed repeated use of the word imo. Hey, maybe I'm wrong on that as well?? Genuine question, btw)
  22. What's that 1 from 5, with form like that stevie, Ashley will be recruiting you in no time. How does that saying go, 'You never see a poor bookie' ?? I wonder why.
  23. If you're not happy with the set up then walk away, don't lie to everyone that it's alright until the window closes and then walk which is the worst possible time. If he did that then people like you would STILL complain about it. Beside it was clearly Milner and the Barton + Owen attempted sale that broke the camels back. Honestly how can you support Wise as DoF? Especially as if Keegan has his way we'd currently have a stronger squad? I wouldn't be complaining because I'd realise it was for the good of the club, I'm not sure how it was clear the club tried to sell Owen? the Milner money was just to good to turn down and Keegan was happy with that (or he claimed he was) on the understanding that he would be replaced, now the club was rejected by Schweinsteiger on the last day (according to Jimenez's associate on N-O) which is unfortunate but it would have meant getting someone else in in January, nothing wrong with that and I can't see why keegan would have a problem with it either since he faced the same situation when he sold Andy Cole. Wise isn't someone I'd have chosen but I can't knock the players he's brought in with the help of Jimenez and Vetere, would Keegan have done better with a similar budget? I'd say he'd have no chance. Aye, but we didn't fucking get Schweinstiger, did we? That's the problem. Milner was sold and not replaced. And unlike the Andy Cole situation we've got a tiny squad, lacking in quality. Selling Cole then meant missing out on the Uefa Cup and came 6th. The size of the squad now leaves us in precarious situation. So does the smaller transfer window and the restrictions that causes. Also, I think it's clear that something was going on with Owen to the extent that the club felt they had to announce he'd been offered a new improved deal. There was a rabbit off there as well. And you say 'would Keegan have done better with a similar sized budget?' Isn't the budget one of the major problems here? No one was expecting us to go beserk with new players but the budget we had wasn’t adequate. I know, it’s all part of the ‘strategy’. Just what I thought at the time.
  24. That article is from just before the infamous "clear the air talks" where he was assured he had final say. So he said he had concerns which were then laid to rest only for them to surface massively later. And you wonder why he was insistent on not talking further without it being backed up by personnel changes? How do you know he was assured then he had the final say? And if he did have the final say then why did he say in an interview (on Sky after the Man Utd game) that Wise and Jimenez came to him and said they had signed Jonas, only for him to go and look him up on the internet? Because the Ashley interview was after the meeting and he also said he was happy with the outcome. Maybe he thought Jonas was acceptable at the time but the two deadline day deals when they should have been concentrating on his squad concerns were a step too far. I do share some of the "he shouldn't have quite when he did" feelings but to make the whole thing a 50/50 deal is absolutely ludicrous. Ashley said in his interview that the club will put up the money for the players Keegan thinks are right, what he didn't say then that has been mentioned by him and other members of the board is that they have to fit in with the clubs strategy which is to buy younger players on the way up rather than older players on the way down, I think the club were happy to let Keegan have the final say up to a point more out of goodwill rather than it being agreed that it was the way the club should be ran, something clearly happened though between the signing of Bassong up until the final day which caused a split behind the scenes and made the board feel as if they had to go over the managers head just to get players in. I don't really see what Ashley has done wrong except appointing Keegan in the first place, not because I think he's a bad manager but because he's not someone who would work well with the strategy of the club, I also think it's all been blown out of proportion simply because it was Keegan who walked as if it was anyone else the fans would be making as much of a fuss as the West Ham fans are over Curbishly, but that's Ashley problem as he was happy to take the credit for bringing him back. Blown out of proportion due to it being Keegan? Possibly. However, it was more to do with the fact that the football being played was actually getting better - something supporters want first and foremost in their team!!! That's why Wist 'am fans didn't kick off; because'Curbs' hadn't improved the team ffs
