  1. We wouldn't have beaten Man Utd 3-0 with playing nice one-touch football. We battered them with long balls and high pressing, simple as. Instead of praising a manager that has our team over-achieving people resort to call for his head. Embarrassing really.
  2. Warnock saying in the Independent he's now working for the "fourth- or fifth-biggest club in the country."
  3. I haven't read it yet, but there was a review on it in "When Saturday Comes" I believe. Also checked at Amazon where the average ratings seemed rather impressive. I think the best one is "Provided you don't kiss me". Which ones have you read?
  4. do you have the book about Clough and Revie ? Yes I do. Bought it at the Backpage back in August iirc.
  5. Books I really liked (apart from the ones mentioned) Kevin Keegan's Autobiography is quite revealing, speaks his mind there. The chapters concerning his departure at NUFC and his Liverpool time are particularly intriguing. I don't really like players' autobiographies, nor do I like Gary Neville, but his book is decent stuff. One of the better ones. Recently published: A book about both Clough and Revie, looks promising, haven't read it yet though. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Clough-Revie-Changed-English-Football/dp/1845966600 As for the "The Day The Promises Had To Stop" – will start reading it today.
  6. Indeed. Got hold of a copy a year ago, class read. He also writes a regular column for The Mag, always enjoy that one.
  7. I really feel we can have a go at Spuds for the first time in a few years (away from home that is) - they're a very good side, but while they have the likes of Bale, Modric and Adebayor, we are equipped with the two Dembas (and maybe HBA) who can change the course of the game as well. Would still take a draw though.
  8. Some of Neville's comments are gold – the one with Luiz ("controlled by a 10-year-old on the Playstation") is my favourite @McFaul: Have to agree, what I like about Souness the pundit is that he speaks his mind, was spot on with the Tevez thing ("one bad apple")…
  9. Funny that, always thought he was a bit of a cunt, but I really like him as a pundit. Gave us some credit yesterday, even Redknapp did. Aye, I quite like him as a pundit too (and always thought he was a cunt prior to that). Well, who didn't?
  10. Funny that, always thought he was a bit of a cunt, but I really like him as a pundit. Gave us some credit yesterday, even Redknapp did.
  11. Best worked his socks off once again, tremendous from the lad. Responding to those who say Colo hadn't anything to do - he cleared many crosses and carried the ball out of defence beautifully on a couple of occasions. Don't think you can ask for any more. Guthrie was superb from the moment Cabaye was stretchered off ironically - another player who has improved massively under Pardew.
  12. Robbie Savage didn't get a mention here, should be in the same "cunt" category as Merson & Burley. Remember him talking about our chances of surviving after our return from the Championship - he was like "they're basically the same team that went down, blahblah, they will go straight back down". He then went on to say how poor we were when he played us with Derby and won 3-0. Funnily enough he covered the 6-0 v Villa on MOTD 2 shortly afterwards, his face was gold "I probably have to reverse my opinion" fucking long-haired cunt.
  13. The Sun gave us an excellent write up. Only article on the game where they didn't include 'United' when referring to ManUre. OK, haven't seen the Sun tbh. But apart from that, even some of the "quality" papers were pathetic (Guardian, Independent).
  14. Most of the coverage in the papers mainly concentrated on the penalty incident, which is shocking, but not surprising. There was one good piece though - the match report in the Sunday Times. Basically said we deserved the point, were more than matching Manure in the first half and produced yet another great performance. It was also mentioned how good a team Pardew was building here. If you've subscribed to the Times, have a look, the only match report worth reading this weekend. IIRC one of the Mirror's pieces was the worst match report written in the history of English football, nothing in it apart from Rednose's comments and Manure-arselicking.
  15. Tbh if I were an England fan I wouldn't have been happy with the pundits' analysis after the game, basically advocating that England should be a 'spoiler' team against the likes of Spain and Germany. It's basically doing what the shit teams in the PL do up against the big boys. There's the rub, I suppose. Do you accept that we are inferior to them, take the pragmatic approach like Greece did so efficiently and enjoy the success as and when it comes, or do you say fuck it, I'd rather not win than have my country be remembered as the worst ever winner of an international tournament. I think that's going too far. Yes, England were the team sitting back, spoiling and countering, but you can't compare that to Greece. They basically played a 7-2-1 formation or sth like that.
  16. That's a bad point though..... If you reckon their cup triumph is directly to blame, it is. Another way of seeing it is that even a relegation team managed to pull it off. just food for thought. If you put it that way, yes. Sounded like you'd rather win a cup than stay in the league. I really do hope we have a go at it as well, but as someone has mentioned before, it's a tough job for Pardew as far as injuries etc are concerned.
  17. That's a bad point though.....
  18. Well we don't have any other centrebacks so I can't see a change there. He could possibly bring Fergusson in at leftback but I can't see any other changes to our defence. Maybe Harper in goal. I'd like to see more of Marveaux and Gosling needs games. I fear we'll see the return of Guthrie too. No doubt Strola and Lovenkrands will be back too. Is Ferguson fit again?
  19. Pardew spoke of "using" the squad for this one after the Villa game, so expect the likes of Gosling, Marveaux, Sammy etc. Hope he does include a few current 1st teamers as well.
  20. Credit where it's due - Pardew has made us a team very hard to beat. Imagine going 1-0 down at Villa Park under Kinnear/Fat Sam, we would have been torn apart. Cabaye is an absolute bargain for £4m, that's for sure.
  21. At least we're creating something. Saylor just hit the post. Better from us.
  22. On a side note, those "marks" in the Chronicle are a total fucking joke. Take Ryan Taylor for example: "Didn't quite gel with Jonas on the night" ....... 6" Now, first of all the problem wasn't that he "didn't quite gel with Jonas", the problem is he's no left back and therefore not very good at it. And then to give him 6 out of 10 is a disgrace - 6 means "job done" iyam.
