Laddy with a lille supporting mate asked him about our potential signings and thoughts on the players, thought it was an interesting enough read from their side of the fence ; http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/49625...ter-Our-tragets "Anyway, i see we're close to signing Yohan Cabeye. I talked to someone this morning, one of my dads friends, who lives in Newcastle but is from France, and he goes back there for the winter to see his family. He's a Lille supporter, and i asked him about Gervinho, Cabeye and Sow. These are his exact words - "Sow is over rated, he benifits so much from Gervinho and Hazard on the wings. Don't get me wrong, he's a great CF and probably good enough to get in the starting 11 of any team below the top 4 in the premier league, but he's just not in the same league as Gervinho and Hazard". "Cabeye is is potentially a brilliant player, probably better than any of your midfielders, except maybe Cheik Tiote, however he has too many off days for me. He seems to be really hot for about 3 games and then blows out cold for 3 games. He's inconsistant but a good player, one that will score 4-6 goals a season and get around 7/8 assists. He was excellent in 09/10 but not so great this season for some reason" "Gervinho an amazing player, and i can't believe he would think about going to teams like you and Arsenal, no offense. He should be playing for Real Madrid, he's as good as Di Maria on his day. I hope he stays, and if you manage to buy him for only 10m euros i will be extremely angry with my club, as he's worth double that in my opinion". I asked him to make a comparison between Gervinho and Ben Arfa, and.... lol... he said "Gervinho would take Ben Arfa, eat him and **** him back out again". So i reckon that message is pretty clear then haha. I know this is only one guys opinion, but he's an intelligent man and around my dads age, so i'll trust his opinion. If what he says about Cabeye is true, would you still want to sign him? Also, it's made me even hungrier about the attempt to sign Gervinho, however i still doubt it will happen."

What are we doing re-signing Lee Bowyer!!!!!
ToonMarshy replied to McFaul 's topic in Newcastle Forum
Actually made me hangover worse that title did. That being said, it's getting pretty hard at the minute to be optimistic about this transfer window, getting a bit of beaten housewife syndrome here. All throughout the end of the season the one thing we were repeatedly told was that we had a small fortune to spend and it was going to be used to buy a strong squad over the summer. Admittedly it's early days yet but so far the only transfer news (bar the 18 year old mate of ben arfas) has been the very core of our team that kept us up this season - leaving. Admittedly, we are running on a squad that we have been relying on for the past 3 years, and some new legs are desperately required. However the main thing our squad lacks is depth, and replacing our starting 11 with a new squad, but not trying to keep a hold of the talent we already have seems like a disaster in the making (probably hoping on the youngsters coming good next season) It's obvious that they want to shake it up - anyone who doesn't look like they will keep their form for the next 2 or 3 years being shaken off early, and replaced with new talent! It could go either way, but even if it does work out well and we get a good crop of players - I will honestly be gutted when the likes of enrique, barton, nolan, gutierrez and coloccini leave. They went from a squad that dragged us down into the depths of relegation and could barely kick a ball between them, to the most charismatic and character filled squad in the premier league this year - took on all challenges (be it sales or injury) and still managed to exceed expectations. -
Simpson just posted up that Joey Barton has joined up on twitter, might be worth a follow just to keep an eye over the whole contract debacle from his side? (doubt theyd be happy if he put owt up there like but) @Joey7Barton

Charles N'zogbia keen on a move back to NUFC
ToonMarshy replied to jamie_gordon's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not sure exactly how much truth is in this but i'll throw it up anyway; http://aggbot.com/link.php?id=13620048&r=tw&c=48 "Newcastle move to outbid Liverpool, Sunderland for N’Zogbia with £60,000-a-week offer 23.05.11 | tribalfootball.com Newcastle United are making a bumper contract offer to Wigan Athletic winger Charles N'Zogbia. The People says Toon will offer winger N’Zogbia £60,000 a week to return to St James’ Park. And that’s bad news for Sunderland, Toon boss Alan Pardew’s main rivals, along with Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool, in the race to sign the Wigan wide man. The Black Cats cannot match Newcastle’s salary offer for the exciting and enigmatic Frenchman as Magpies owner Mike Ashley prepares to ditch his policy of not paying inflated wages." In all honesty i doubt there's much in it (given the source) and it would definitely send out signals towards people currently wanting new contracts about expected wages, reckon we owuld want him 60k a week badly? -
Surely cant be real. You are something else Deadman. I teared up a little at the villa match that sent us down - not full blown bawl but i will admit to having a couple of tears and the driest mouth ever - with the biggest lump in me throat and the tightest knot in me stomach. Only a young'un i guess - and I'd never experienced a relegation before, honestly one of the nastiest feelings i've had

Some powerful driving runs from Staylor today, really looks up for it. Hope he doesn't abandon his defensive duties though. -
