  1. not bad that since sacking harvey (arguably our last "winner"): gradual decline mid 70s (sell macdonald) terrible late 70s (relegated) gradually get better early 80s (sign keegan) good mid 80s (youngsters emerge, like beardsley, waddle) terrible late 80s (sell our youngsters, relegated) gradually get better early 90s (keegan) good mid 90s (keegan signs great players) decline late 90s (gullit, benches shearer etc etc) slow build up again early 00s (robson, signs youth) almost succes mid 00s (champs league) slow painful decline and relegation late 00s (ashley) be interesting if you tried to fit a cycle to newcastle, seems we're on a 10 year one, where we have a revivial at the beginning of a decade (keegan 80s as a player and 90s managing, robson 00s) but end up in the shit by the end of the decade (relegated 77, relegated 89, gullit messing us up 98/99, relegated 09) so by 2015 we should be in the top 4 lads...
  2. thats a big if though b7 and i dont like the idea of barton on the left personally
  3. havent crawley spent a shitload of money though?
  4. i would say it is small time and embarrassing to sign up to another club's board....
  5. so you're 6th in the league based on your incredible scoring record of..... 28 goals in 24 games in fact you're the lowest scorers in the top half in fact only 4 teams outside the relegation zone have scored fewer than sunderland this season you're 6th because of your defence this season, you've conceded the fewest outside of the top 4 and have the most clean sheets with 11, unless im mistaken? in fact those clean sheets have earned you more than bent, with them being worth anywhere between 10-20 points
  6. oh no doubt, there is an obvious gap in between carroll and the rest of our frontmen. we need to find the striker equivalent of tiote really
  7. sorry to break it to you tecato but he's already said that http://www.clubcall.com/newcastle-united/n...ew-1156651.html Talking about carroll being out "it doesn't change my thinking in the transfer window.... Maybe it would have if Shola, Besty, Nile and Peter hadn't done so well"
  8. we have maybe 12 players capable of being in a european squad at this point in time. say 4/5 of our youngsters prove to be good enough, that leaves us needing to buy at least 5/6 more quality players. of course, we can't do this all at once as it would disrupt the team and dressing room too much, so it's going to take us around 3 years to get there..... but by that time 4/5 of the original 12 will be getting old so they'll need replaced, not to mention any of the original 12 that gets poached by teams already challenging for things. we're doomed while fat ash is in charge if we keep signing 2 players a season
  9. i hadnt realised you'd signed anyone til you just mentioned it.... thanks for that
  10. erm bents 90th minute goal got you 1 point against arsenal and his 90th minute goal beat man city for 3.... 3 + 1 = 4 unless you misunderstood me saying "responsible for 4 of them" as meaning "responsible for all of them".... but that would be too ironic from someone calling someone else a 'spacker' surely?
  11. Sunderlands record Vs this seasons top 5: P6 W2 D3 L1 - 9 points isnt bad really...... but if you consider bent being almost singlehandedly responsible for 4 of them it looks a whole lot different
  12. i hate being underneath the gap in the table at the moment hopefully by brum we'll have at least narrowed it (looking at fixtures it's highly likely tbh), and there may be a smaller gap formed between the top and bottom half of around 4 points really not worth trying to say what the table is going ot look like come may, as this season is so unpredictable we could end up anywhere
  13. saw an interesting comparison by a guy called rexn between hughton's last 7 and pardews first 7 (if we discount liverpool, as he had less than 24 hours with team) hughton's last 7: W2 D2 L3 F12 A11 - these involved a derby, playing 2 champions league contenders, and a team pushing for europe Pardew's first 7: W2 D2 L3 F10 A10 - these involved a derby, playing 3 champions league contenders, and a team in league 2 also, in 3 of pardew's 7 games we've conceded after 90 minutes.
  14. cant believe noone has him doing the stokokoky whooooooa the stokoekoky...
  15. hard to choose really krul colo tiote barfa best best ahead of shola for the way he tries to take the piss wiht little flicks and stuff, although maybe nolan would be better than both of them
  16. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/...erkusen?cc=5739 espn has him down as injured too
  17. i fear you have just destroyed every future photo ever to be posted on here all we need is a "where's stokoe" and no picture will ever be the same again
  18. apparently his knees swollen
  19. tiote suspended as well axeman at this rate perch might get a start at dm
  20. think fergie playing him at centremid in the first place had a lot to do with it as well barton7
  21. naaaah i still like him he's clearly not a top flight footballer though. could barely manage half a season in the championship tbhwy
  22. for the best really he should retire.
