  1. i dont see how pointing out obvious flaws or inadequacies in various players can be considered a lack of optimism...
  2. ok, heres a different way of looking at it record own goal scorer in premier league - probably cost us at least 1 point, maybe 2 (perchs own goal cost us a point against stoke) record red card earner - probably cost us at least 1 point, maybe 2 (raylors red card probably cost us 2 points against bolton) 31 and a smoker, so wont keep up, much like campbell - probably cost us at least 3 points, maybe 6 (campbells old man legs have cost us around that many points against chelsea, stoke and so on) take 5 points off where we currently are and we'd be bottom 3, take 10 and we're rock bottom. of course those points are all hypothetical so the argument doesnt really stack up. lets just say i just dont rate him
  3. ok, but what about red cards? dunne has the most premier league red cards ever (joint with viera and ferguson on 8)
  4. dunne is a liability most own goals in the premier league ever and he's a smoker, no chance his lungs will last much more into his 30s
  5. only players in the op that would improve us would be petrov and young petrov being too old, and young being too overhyped so will probably end up at spurs other villa players that would improve us being bent, and downing. lowry, albrighton, delph, bannan, and delfouneso would be good prospects but none of them will be allowed to leave, surely we'll end up with ireland and reo-coker
  6. couldve kept harper company on the sunbeds i guess... team bonding and all that
  7. aye i remember the venables story it was definitely a wtf moment, but after kinnear anything was possible
  8. aye henda that was floating around before this seasons were unveiled, the away kit version they did with that style (yellow and green) looked good too
  9. sorry about my belated reply above, dont know what happened there. understand completely what you're saying about the 70s kits, wouldnt mind them bringing those back but we wont get umbro as they have sunderland we'll get nike its how that "company" does it, man utd - nike, man city - umbro notts county - nike, notts forest - umbro villa - nike, wba - umbro rangers - umbro, celtic - nike and so on
  10. craig. no fan of nike and yet you want an umbro kit? as nobby said, theyre practically the same thing (granted they have their own divisions etc) but its like saying you're no fan of general motors but quite like vauxhall (not that anyone would ever say that) nike also own converse as it happens only downside to nike, in my eyes, is that they sponsor perch love to be sponsored by nike
  11. jarvis is a good shout. mulumbu from west brom ridgewell from brum o'hara going further than that i really couldnt tell you, most players i fancy from europe will be in european football next year. no idea for a striker
  12. win against everton and we should have a comfy gap between us and the bottom half
  13. good job that guy wasnt behind me i spent most of the second half standing up hurling abuse at the ref. lost my voice by the end
  14. no if anyone who finishes outside the top 4 wins the cl the 4th placed league team loses their cl spot and the uefa spot goes to them instead of 5th, no country can have more than 4 cl entrants thanks to liverpool screwing it up a few years back
  15. guthrie seems to be one of those players that the fans love to hate. people remember everytime he plays poorly, every misplaced pass or cock up, whereas anything good he does just gets forgotten and never mentioned. It's actually cropped up on this thread already, easy to remember the wba moment and the terrible overall game he had, but easy to forget the more recent assist for colo's goal against spurs and how we fell apart after he went off injured (maybe more to do with perch coming on, but at the very least it should prove he should be nowhere near the same bracket as the fish). he's struggled this season with poor fitness and poorer form for the majority, needs a run of games to get either of them back, but is never going to get them here. a loan could be a good option for him personally.
  16. has birmingham winning today crushed our slim hope for europe?
  17. perch smith xisco anyone else would be because we bought someone for the first team to push whoever is there at the moment to the bench
  18. the lad was clearly upset, needed an arm round him we tried to help with that, as we should
  19. June 2011 Sol Campbell Ryan Donaldson Michael Richardson Brad Inman June 2012 Steve Harper Jose Enrique Joey Barton Danny Guthrie Tamas Kadar Shane Ferguson Ole Soderberg James Tavernier Sammy Adjei Ben Tozer
  20. ireland hooper is a shout, werent we linked with him before he went north of the border? i'd like to see gervinho or our scouts to come up with someone similar we'll probably get a french out of contract bad boy to keep ben arfa company too, that marveux guy if he doesnt go to liverpool possibly we'll also need to fill the void left by smith surely vacating the "too old to start regularly but still useful for half a dozen games as a back up dm, anymore and you're pushing it though" role
  21. oh and i want to buy a pub, but as im skint i would at least invest in the purchase of one
  22. as long as it is completely seperate from other organisations currently out there it's a good idea
  23. i'm stephen ireland, you may remember me from such games as....
