Its cringeworthy but a bit charming at the same time. He is easily affected by his surroundings, I catch myself speaking with a dutch accent when Im with dutch friends and english accent when I speak to J69 on ventrilo.

I just think its an absurd thing to claim, that pace in todays fotball is overrated. You cant use Obertan as an example of pace not being important- he doesnt use his, tbf he is a useless waste of oxygen. Fullbacks these days are in fact effectively second wingers, overlapping and providing additional attacking threat. They defend that way, when you double up on the flanks you tie up the oppositions wingers a well. Having loads of pace is really really important, as wingers storm up and down the flank throughout the game.

yup, but pace is pretty fucking important for a fullback - if you dont have it the winger will quickly notice and then all hell is loose.

Complete opposite for me, Raylor cant even get the basics right - he made SWP look like angel di maria on the flank last season. Simpson at least have the general competence to do his duties as a wingback defensively. He just offers the square root of fuck all going forward. I at least somewhat trust simmo defensively. With Raylor anything could happen.

Sniffer mate, Cisse is made shit by us - he is not suited to our style of play. He is a striker in the Bent mould, off the shoulder of defenders and a poacher. If you play it on the ground and get the oppositions defence moving, then he will shine. As of now they can remain rigid and just pick out the hoofs and as such he will constantly find himself offside trying to get into positions.

Sensible post, Cant disagree with much of that - Ben arfa did not play because of EL against Soton - true. But its not like we have been playing champagne fotball up until now anyway. Re Taylor, he is a utility player at best. I would not ever start him because he lacks the basic fotballing skills that even Danny Simpson seem to (occationally) possess. He is a poor fotballer with a beckhamesque freekick delivery and thats about it.

Where would he play, I wouldnt play him over either simpson or santon. midfield? Fucking hell... Re Ben arfa he has not been affected by the EL up until now so our domestic performances have been unaffected - get it?

My prediction was 11th, which was optimistic based on the fact that I thought pardew would be more adept at spotting what was/wasnt working. As we stand now, we will struggle to get 20 points by christmas. If we manage to steer clear of the relegation fight that would be good. We got outplayed by southampton though, arguably the worst team in the division save for QPR. Worrying.

Ryan taylor isnt a first XI player. Ben arfa got injured in the last game which was the first time he played. Preparation... I seem to remember Bobbys side skinning teams on saturday afternoon after mid-week european jaunts... It doesnt wash with me. The preparation should be the same regardless of who we face. Work on our possession, build up play and passing instead of the 24-hour DVD marathons on the other team

The benefit is playing in europe which is a great thing to share with the fans and in terms of promoting your club abroad. If all you think about is pennies and pounds then no, the Europa league isnt that great. Which is probably what Mike and Dekka decided when they made the decision not to bolster the squad. THAT BEING SAID, Europa league has had zero effect on our turgid displays this year for the simple reason that we have fielded basically our reserve squad and still come out okay. Its the first team that has been disappointiing in the league and it has very little to do with the EL. Ok you get fewer days with your dossiers and files to analyze to death the other team in order to "contain and control" but I find this approach laughable in the first place. Its not how Ferguson and Wenger does it and he should focus on our own attacking threat setup and stop pissing his pants about the other teams on a weekly basis.
