  1. maybe he was as you'd wonder if we'd have bought him if we'd already signed Owen. I think maybe there is a good chance we would have as Shearer was not originally spupposed to play the whole season was he? However I think it's harsh to judge Luque as a bad buy on what we have seem so far. Hopefully the boo-boys will keep off both his and Shola's backs at the matches. They'll not stand a chance of amounting to anything if they're constantly bereated at matches.
  2. I'd go with TF match report as well actually. We didn't actually look like we could win it much at all yesterday. Yes we were unlucky with those decisions (decisions which to be fair would have changed the game), but we should still be able to beat Everton. I thought Baba had a swipe taken at him by Cahil first to be honest and Cahil went crying to the ref after Baba gave him one back (but not before he had another swipe a Baba). I also thought the ref was a little lenient on some of the Everton tackles but all over ours. Still, regardless of all of that we should have been able to beat Everton - even with Super Shola in the team.
  3. Parker is an obvious and solid choice. But has he been here long enough to inspire the rest of the squad? Only the dressing room would know. Neither of our (supposed) first-choice centre-backs should be considered and I dont think Taylor has the experience yet. In fact I wouldn't have even considered him had he not been listed. Parker's positional play is very good and that leaves him in a better position to view the game. Given is an understandable choice and I think if he was anything other than a goalkeeper I'd agree. Of course if he was something other than a goalkeeper he might not play for NUFC but that's besides the point
  4. Shola's performance was far worse than Shearers yesterday, thats why he should get more stick. Shearer was quiet yesterday but to be fair Everton were all over us at times yesterday so we needed to take what few chances we had. Shearer missed one where he almost turned through 180 to hit it but slipped and a second when he tried to take it around Martyn (when he should have shot 1st time). Shola missed a couple, had one saved by a handball, and scuffed two other chances when he clearly should have passed. The difference with Shearer is that even when he has a quiet game, he still tries to influence the game and also he can still get into good positions. There were two occasions yesterday when he got into an unmarked goalscoring position and neither Shola or Luque had the vision to pass. Instead they shot from untenable positions and wasted those chances. That's why he should and is getting more grief than Shearer. He's feckin' clueless man. At least Luque has the excuse of a lack of match fitness and adjustment to the EPL.
  5. The balance here is that you're old enough* to have heard this joke before whereas I hadn't As for N-O? You think they could decipher half the words I type? It may be shite, but its 'well articulated' shite Oh and cock off! * and I'm 28
  6. ...... this afternoons result. Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God went missing for six days. Eventually, Archangel Michael found him on the seventh day resting. He enquired of God, "Where have you been?" God pointed downwards through the clouds. "Look Michael, look what I've made" said God. Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put LIFE on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance." "Balance?" inquired Michael, still confused. God explained, pointing down to different parts of the Earth, "For example, North America will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while South America is going to be poor; the Middle East over there will be a hot spot and Russia will be a cold spot. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people." God continued, pointing to the different countries" This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice." The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to another area of land and asked, "What's that?" "Ah," said God. "That's the North of England, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful people, seven Premiership football teams in the North West alone, and many impressive cities; it is the home of the World's finest artists, musicians, writers, thinkers, explorers and politicians. The people from the North of England are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they're going to be found travelling the world. They'll be extremely sociable, hard-working and high-achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as speakers of truth." Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance God, you said there will be BALANCE!" God replied very wisely, "Wait till you see the bunch of wankers I'm putting down South!"
  7. Hmmm, watch us get over run by a bunch of bruisers or endure an auditory assault akin to having the unravelled ends of metal coat hangers jabbed vigorously into your ears???? Difficult choice........ no seriously I'm just pleased I only had to endure the former in the pub and it only cost me the price of a few pints.
  8. Depending on how much of a sicko you are.... it can get much worse - there is lots of scope for badness
  9. Mrs Paws found this. Thought you could use your imagination to fill in the blanks Click Me
  10. Lou What sadistic cult are you getting me into?
  11. We were always going to strunggle against Chelsea without our two main strikers. Baba seems to have had a good game (turning it on for his old team perhaps?) as has Parker (could be more of the same but I dont think so). Bramble and Boumsong have both had nightmare. We have lost our shape and our composure. Souness needs t sort both of these quickly as we showed we could play with Chelsea in the first half. That's still not beyond us. Goals however, might be.......
  12. The advert has just told me that they do stream every match live! Cool!
  13. Do century fm always have the match commentary on? It's the only reason I keep contemplating paying for Newcastle World. I guess the post match vids etc would be nice as well but theradio commentary is the main thing I want. If they streamed the match live via video then I'd pay for that!
  14. If someone sends it to me, I'll stick it on my server for a bit.
  15. It's possible, I agree. It's the same situation as Shearer and Carr though - depends on fitness. Certainly, if ready, he is an option. If both he and Shearer are available, I reckon Souness will start with Big Al and see how he gets on as he has established a partnership with Owen. Luque is an option to replace Al, but he's untried with Owen and it may be a bit too much of a gamble in a game like this. For this game, Ameobi may be the safer option. Still, he might through caution to the wind and try him
  16. Like ON says, swap Bramble for Taylor. Shearer will be interesting as I a) Dont know if he'll be ready and even if he is ready, I'm not sure he could do the full 90 after a hernia op - not even with his powers of recovery. Same goes for Carr I suppose although he's had longer to recuperate. Ramage should be on the bench for cover. We could drop nobby to RB if Carr runs out of steam and bring on Bowyer as RM. I know it's not his best position but Dyer looks doubtful and Milner is unavailable. There's always Brittain I suppose, but I think he'd get ripped against Chelsea and that wont do his confidence any good. Probably not the most ideal time to try him again, but there's always Chops instead of Ameobi?? Not a bad scoring record at the minute albeit at reserve level.
  17. Has anyone got that picture of Micheal and Big Al after he scored against West Brom? The one where they're arm in arm? Our kid wants it for his backdrop. I seem to remember someone on here put it up in a post. Cheers, Paws
  18. Always been maggiespaws except for the very first time I registered on toontastic where I was Magpie. After the database went down someone else registered as Magpie before I could. My cat helped me choose my new name.
  19. First car was an N Reg Rover 214SEi. Leather seats, metallic black and the dodgey walnut interior. Lasted me approx 35k miles before the engine blew up on the M56 (it had 55k on it by then). Got that repaired at a cost of £1200 (just after we'd moved into our first house as well) then someone drove into the back of it. It got repaired but the accident repair centre gave me a list of stuff that would go wrong in the next 12mths. Sacked it off and bought a Puma. That was a few years ago like ;-)
  20. Sounds good to me. Seen the the 'proper' roses at Sheffield before they split, the business BONGO! 54192[/snapback] Saw TCSR in Manchester at the Academy a couple of years back they weren't bad at all. Although the singer is Scottish and has a crap Manc accent.
