I'd give Jonas a coaching role too. Fuck it, make him the MD, got to be better than that twat Charnley. On a serious note, even poor clubs like QPR have the sense to have someone behind the scenes who is actually a football man (Ferdinand). Ashley likes to employ people who aren't football people (cliché, I know) and struggle to see things from the fans' perspectives.

Carver has the job because Charnley is clueless and unable to see past Carver's excuses and his own inability to attract better/ability to do anything. No doubt Charnley is a scapegoat but I'm not giving him any sympathy. Absolute disagrace to hear that Carver apparently has a job at the club come pre-season whatever happens. So many levels of wrong.

Why? Absolutely clueless stuff from Charnley this. How is Carver still on the managerial shortlist in the first place? The fans don't like him, the players don't respect him, his 'reign' has been abysmal from start to finish, and it's more than clear that he's not capable of doing the job to the required standard - he can't do anything right, from tactics to interviews. He's had his sales pitch and fucked it up beyond anyone's worst expectations. Blaming it all on injuries etc as he does just sums him up. Self-centered and delusional. He should have been let go by now - it's beyond belief. He's done nothing to suggest he deserves it and everything to suggest he doesn't. It's incredible that he's even being considered. And then to assure him of a postiion come pre-season? Why? It's a results business - why should he be assured of that? If he doesn't get the job, what if the new man doesn't want to work with him? The club needs overhauling from top to bottom. I'm sure they're all nice enough people but I'd replace the entire coaching staff - at the very least Woodman, Stone and Carver. I doubt there's many fans out there who aren't in favour of a total fresh start. Reassuring abject failures that they'll still have a job even if it's a detriment to the club/the next manager (if not Carver) is hard to comprehend.

I think/assume he's working from the logic that he's not been ruled out of getting the job, and is just talking from the point of view of what he'll potentially do if he gets it. There was no way Charnley was going to tell him that he'd definitely not get the job before we secured safety. Far too risky. Either you get rid there and then or you leave it.
