No, you get a grip. We'll lose that much if we go down as we might well do now we've lost our main goal threat. £35m, no doubt embezzled by an owner who doesn't have a history of sanctioning big money deals. £35m, that can't be reinvested in replacing him for the remaining games in which to save our season. I'm stunned that anyone out there - be they Toon fan or not - thinks this is a good deal. This was an excellent deal up until the point of the window closing. Selling that player for any amount and not replacing him makes this potentially be a suicidal deal. This will be the season of what ifs. Well, yeah. If this was January the 2nd or early Summer, then I could understand. Not now, when we're not safe in this league.

Something has to be done. The thing is, however, nothing will work. Our only hope is getting lucky and someone ekse wanting to buy the club.

Andy Carroll aftermath(press conf/interviews etc)
Monroe Transfer replied to Barney's topic in Newcastle Forum
That can't be true. I say that because I don't think the hierarchy can't stoop that low. If it's true then this has to be the last straw (how many times have we said that?). They have to go. And we can do far better than 27 year old Carlton Cole. -
Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll

To be fair if he had gone there they'd be a lot better off. Torres is still a huge loss for them. No guarantees that Suarez will adapt, and Carroll will do well but hopefully not to the tune of £35m. I'd have an in form Torres over Suarez+Carroll for sure. Suarez and Torres could have been one special pairing. -

Because he never actually joined them. I guess that little fact slipped under your radar. edit; Wasn't linked to them at all other than the first week or so of the window, if I recall correctly. Even then it was probably just paper talk. -

Cloud cuckoo land if you believe that. Especially as we may well get relegated before then. -
The only big decision Ashley has got right was getting rid of Allardyce.

Still a load of shite imo. Is it? I'd love to know the absolute truth in all of this.

Yup. Can't wait to hear the excuses tomorrow. An utter disaster of a transfer window. We've brought in an out of form midfielder with mental issues, to create goals for our now Championship-level strikeforce. Now, perhaps we shouldn't be selling our only decent striker if we know we can't definitely replace him in time... Ashley is banking on the current lot keeping us up on their own and then, hopefully, splashing the case in the summer. That's a huge risk and if we do go down the money we've made off of Carroll won't be going anywhere other than to cover our losses from another relegation.

I'd have taken the likes of Martins, Yakubu, Vela, Sturridge etc over what we've got now.
